you've had some really great stuff on here, can tell you put a lot of work into these videos and i for one really appreciate it!! keep up the good work!
While some people may not consider epson top tier, the value you get out of them is fantastic. I've been running a 5040 for 7 years, and ran a 5030 for 5 year prior to that and they both do a great job. I use the 5030 for an outdoor setup in the summer time now.
Great video, I really enjoy watching home theater tours. Cool to see you have done this with your own initiative and DIY skills. It looks like a fantastic space to enjoy movies. Good luck with the rest of your journey.
Room looks great! Could you explain exactly how you have it set up to bring up your lights when you hit pause and dim them when you hit play? I know you said you have everything in Home Assistant but if you could do a tutorial on the integrations you used to do it that would be awesome! I just got a Home Assistant Green specifically to try to get this set up in my theater and I am not sure where to begin. I too have a Harmony I am trying to work with. Thanks!
Thanks! I’ve been considering trying to make a video on home assistant and how I’m integrating everything. But trying to execute and explain everything in a cohesive way is gonna be difficult. I’m not a home assistant guru….I STILL have to watch tutorials on youtube. But its one of those things, once you do a few you kinda just know what to do moving forward but explaining it in a video is an entirely different beast
Thanks! The rears are the same height as the fronts with the stands. I wanted them all even. Any higher would be too close to my height channels. I only have 8 ft ceilings 🥲
@@hatoraidcowboy to do the list short, mine is 7.1.4 svs with a JTR 4000 ulf and Crowson actuators. My compromise is room size, just 14x10x8, so the only place to put the sub is on the rear of the room and some times I can localize it even with xover at 80hz. However, I love how it sounds.
Great looking space, but I see an area for improvement. Your ceiling isn't very high, and your front heights are directly above your mains and far away from your main listening position. You'll get much better height channel separation if you move your heights closer to your seating.
Thank you. I considered that when I only had 4 height speakers but I have 6 now and planning on utilizing all 6 which will provide much better coverage
Loved the video. Awesome upgrades and thanks for mentioning the Cobb lights and home assistant. Ima have to look into it cause I have all hue and id like to integrate the lights with my kscape
Thanks Rob! Yea def look into Home Assistant. I love it. Get you a home assistant green and you are pretty much plug and play. Just have to configure your lights and media players to work together. Its awesome
Love your theater journey, props to you for your DIY approach, certainly helps one appreciate the theater more. how do the arendal compare to the several JTR theaters you have toured.
Very nice system !! Great job , if you get a Processor that has auro 3D it will use your center height speakers Perfectly , You’ll learn that when you get the Trinnoff Processor , Anyway Congratulations for a really nice system
When you get your video processor, please get them both video calibrated together & I promise you it will take it to another level. When I did that with my Sony 5K adding the Lumagen. It was next level.
The video turned out great. Congratulations on the build, as I see you are basically satisfied with it. You gave a lot of ideas, I also liked the presentation of your development phase. If you would tidy up your current system a bit, rethink and build it, I think it would be much better. If you lived closer, I'd be happy to help.
@@hatoraidcowboy I have a similar project in the works. I will write a report that will help you move forward. I will build the building next year, and then the real fun will begin. Of course, I will build my own hall by myself. Including the speakers and the sound attenuators.
Great video with a lot of detail on your system. I think your previous screen was Silver Ticket, which is what I have now. My DIY masking panels were a HUGE game changer for sure. My next upgrade will be screen, likely a Seymore with the add on masking. I’m curious if the panel material is transparent? Does it fully mask? My DIY panels are foam with black velvet. Can you see disc menus with them up? While I am still super happy with my screen, I always wonder if it limits the image quality? Good to get your opinion, especially with you coming from the same screen I have.
Thanks Joe! For some reason I could not remember Silver Ticket when I was filming lol. I’ll be making a dedicated video on the Seymour Screen soon that will answer all of your questions 😃 The panel material is partially transparent though.
I’m going to have to upgrade my screen now. Is it just me or does your picture quality look significantly better now. I currently still have my silver ticket screen. Overall nice upgrades 👍🏿
I’m not sure. You’d have to ask Seymour. I’m thinking no though because the screen has magnets in specific places on the frame for the masking panels to attach too. I’m guessing that’s proprietary to Seymour.
if i were buying instead of diying it would be arendal speakers and jtr subs most likely. Eveyone thank the villa man for bringing arendal to the masses He had his like 6 months before everyone caught on.
Thank you for yet another fabulous video on your journey. I dint think I have ever seen the room with the lights on. I especially enjoyed seeing the room. Love the new screen and the masking panels. A couple questions please: Curious if you find the height of the carbon chairs in any way impedes the imaging and sound stage coming from the surround and back channels as the speakers are at lower height than the back of the chairs. I am looking at these chairs but am concerned about the height. Also, I noted you filmed the introductory segment of the video in a Dutch or canted angle. What factors motivate you to use this filming technique over a traditional straight on angle? How do you like the Vicoustic diffuser panels? Also, do you find the quality of the bass traps from Acoustimac to be good? I have looked at them for some custom sized panels. Any plans for a MadVR to compliment the new projector, new screen and Kscape? For what it’s worth, I agree with you on your point about how most people won’t be able to see the difference between the true 4K projector and e-shift. That said, I find it interesting that Epson for some reason continues to resist a native 4K approach. Perhaps it’s simply to keep the cost down. Thanks for the details. I’m looking forward to your review on the Trinnov processor and amp.
Sorry for the late reply Rob. For some reason I could not reply to your comment until now in the app. I like trying to angles and different shots. The dutch angle is cool if done correctly. Just trying to expand my skillset. I have not found the height of the Monza’s to interfere with the sound but I only have 2 chairs so my right side is not being obstructed since there is no chair there. Love the Vicoustics. I really need to get more to make them more beneficial. Acoustimac panels and bass traps made a HUGE difference the moment I integrated them years ago. I’ve been a huge fan ever since. I am supposed to get a MadVR Core in 2025 to review. I am looking forward to that.
I usually only calibrate for the MLP position but this time around I will do another profile for when I have guests. Calibrating for multiple seats is pretty straight forward if you’re using calibration software. Are you trying to calibrate manually?
