WOW!!! What a fabulous channel and resource!!! Thank you so much, Pastor Tim!
I am utilizing this channel in conjunction with two others that are Christian, and
equally valuable--and also, (finally!!!) counselling for Complex Trauma.
For years, I just couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. I read, studied, went
for counselling both secular and Christian, was prayed over and given advise by
people who truly meant well----but had ZERO concept of what profound trauma is
all about. So---in their frustration---they tried to fix me. It might have made THEM
feel better, but it complicated things for me--and left me with MUCH more guilt and
shame that I had, prior to seeing them.
Now---I have finally found a counselor who comprehends what Complex Trauma is-
and the effect it has upon a person. There are no "simple", pat answers, as you well
    know.
At 67 years of age, I am FINALLY finding a safe place where I can get to work--cooperatively
with the Lord---to heal in a SAFE community.
Tossing a person out with a guilt trip and a quick fix condemns them to isolation and
despair. Unfortunately, that is the norm ---or, that has been my experience until recently.
THANK YOU for your ministry and channel.
May I also recommend Diane Langberg and Patrick Doyle---both beautiful Christian
counselors with ministries which acknowledge Complex Trauma, addiction etc.
I learn from them, as well as yourself and the counselor that the Lord led me to.
I am SO thankful to the Lord, to you and to them.

It was one of the fathers of psychology who noticed that people in general, were not understanding the language and the symbolism of the church and Christianity as they had in generations prior. (Sorry, I can't remember which one.) This is what motivated him to study the soul,; to help people understand themselves and to be healed. The church has been playing one note for a very long time. Reading your bible, having devotions, praying, and going to church are all good things to do. But that is just the point. What we really needed to hear was to BE. I was told that God wanted to have a personal relationship with me. It hit me years later that, even though I thought I knew what that meant, in reality, I hadn't a clue because I had nothing in my past that showed me what a healthy relationship looked like. It hit me today that recovery is about being educated which is what is being done here. But if you compare having the tools to have relationships with having the tools to do calculus, it is not any different. if you try to do a calculus problem and no one is there to show you how and you had this intense need surrounding calculus,. eventually, you would feel that calculus is bad or an insurmountable problem. I had a Chinese TA who was unable to connect with me on an English level. Our relationship ended.

If all Churches had this mindset and compassion our world would be better.

The complexity is certainly in the on-going unmet needs of the child and the shame that they feel when those needs go unmet. The complexity also comes when children are not allowed to draw appropriate boundaries around themselves and become someone other than who they were created to be, taking on the generational shame, losing their own identity, and being enmeshed in their parent’s shame identity. It is like being a strand twisted in the plys of yarn and having to untwist the yarn and separate the plys so you, and everyone else, can make your own design on the fabric of life, unaffected by the shame of those before you.

Wow, some people just don't see what I see here. That's ok, but I can't help thinking maybe they didn't bother to listen. I *appreciate* Tim's comparison of bible verse and modern psychology, but it doesn't make me feel I have to sign up ...it's more an anthropological view I adopt. Like it's neat how he interprets the two as completely separate cultural points of reference that are saying the same thing ultimately. Also, not all his talks are to church groups like this. In many the bible discussion is at the end and you can skip part two.
I can still have my own ideas about spirit, what is sacred, and God(dess)! (this is not some cliche feminist thing, I just happen to thing it transcends gender completely) Because *something* is sacred. Even though sometimes it seems that nothing is.

Genesis? Really? I didn’t know this was a religious channel. If that’s your basis of reality it leaves everyone out that doesn’t believe it. That’s a lot of people.
There are some excellent channels on you tube for c-ptsd that don’t have religious belief systems woven into them.
    Unsubscribed.

Birdsong He’s a Pastor so he uses biblical stories to explain how ppl have been going through these same problems for many years.
His channel is about finding freedom from addictions and all sorts of things. This channel has helped me tremendously. Check out some more videos. It’s totally on point Teaching.

Cindy Moore it’s not going to work for people who are not Christians. Some people were specifically traumatized by the church the religion and the structures it creates for people.
I was excited to watch this but then he starts with the scripture and that is a trigger for me so I’m out!

It works if you want it to work and are willing. I'm an atheist due to life experiences and I'm getting better. Stay open, you never know who is going to say that 1 thing that puts it all together.
