Thank you! Wishing you the same.
Very kind and I'm grateful🌟 many blessings your way! 😊
Thank you very much, living with such a brain is exhausting.
Thank you praying the same for you💜
Thank you Dr. Snipes. I was pretty normal with minimal life experiences until marrying a narcissist. I’ve been in two years of therapy and this stuff is like a rabbit hole. I just come to understand that just like my faith I’ll keep growing every day. Thank you for what you do. I am fighting to stay healthy in an unhealthy world.
Hope you got divorced by now. Complete Recovery is possible.
Thanks for watching and being part of the channel. Wishing you peace, health, and happiness.
@@leewest8159 Thank you. One year anniversary coming in November and Two years as no contact as possible (we share children) With God it became possible and I'm thankful to be FREE to do my work!
@@GodsChosenMekAmoR Well done for pressing on with your work, and looking at God for support.
Wish you all the best. I was/am in a similar scenario.
and a narcissist will see you working on calming down, feeling better, and improving, and they will sabotage it every time.
Yep
nailed it
Stay away from them they will only make it worse
I used to blame my narcissist for everything, which actually showed how normalized his behavior was to me that I mimicked it (your vibe is your tribe right). When you get help and grow, you'll even stop blaming the narcissist, because the truth is you had the right and ability to set boundaries and walk away and not let them ruin your life (though it FELT like you couldn't or there were serious factors like safety, children etc). The victim narcissist relationship is a dance, when they tango and you say wow I danced years of my life away with this clown, no one outside of a actual hostage torture situation can MAKe you deny your own needs to please them. They're manipulative these narcs and we made the decisions to give in to them and hate ourselves for it but eventually you will learn you had the power the whole time and when they want to sabotage you, you have the power and choice to cut them off, set a boundary, or just do whats right for you even if it *gasp* disappoints the narcissist. Best wishes for your recovery. Take back your power.

I am now inspired to go back to the University and get a Masters, and then Doctorate. I graduated with a BA in 1995, despite having much trauma throughout my life and it has never stopped. My ability to remain at least half way productive and civil is a miracle. Thank you Dr. Snipes
That’s awesome, Betty! You’re So welcome! Best of luck to you!
Well done, onwards to victory, life is not about finding yourself but about recreating yourself.....
If you haven't yet, may I suggest you read Pete Walker's "CPTSD from Surviving to Thriving " and Bessel Van Der Kolk's " The Body Kerps Score." Of the 2, Pete Walker's work and Internal Family Systems ( Parts Work) have been most helpful for residue of childhood emotional abuse and other ongoing life abuses. At 55 I'm finally healing 💖
Don't go to grad school. Believe me!
I had a delay in starting my Master's degree for similar reasons many years ago I'm so glad I did it. Work is a place I can excel and be sane in the Masters provided me with the opening to do the work. I would go so far as to say that finding success in my work helped me with the healing process. Sometimes it can be lonely when people see you at successful and don't know your real story and that something I'm working on. At any rate more power to you and good luck!
It’s currently 4:44am and I’m in bed crying. Bc I’m terrified. I’m scared. I’m constantly on edge I feel like I’m always waiting and up until now I didn’t know why I felt like that and your video made me make the connection to the causes. I recently went through a traumatic experience that triggered my childhood trauma. Thank you for this.

I was watching this video when it triggered a particularly painful memory of being robbed some years ago. I never felt so alone, especially since my older brother came by to see what happened and didn't even give me a hug. I felt like my inner child was abandoned again, but today I managed to speak to him (my inner child) again about the incident. We held hands and I reassured him that it was not his fault, that he is now safe and we walked forward in tears of relief and self acceptance.
Thanks for watching.
@fair I'm so sorry this happened to you. And now, I'm so glad for you. Yea it's a step at a time. Great job 👏👏Good for you! I pray, going forward you feel loved and safe, every day of your life because you are not ever alone, in Jesus name, amen. You are so brave. Take great care of yourself. Blessings
@@Dani-cg9hnI agreed with your response and your prayer.💛
Thank you. The info is helping me.
My Black mother knew I needed help as a child and never got me help. She would tell me them "white ppl" hate me and say I'm bad. Now, in my early retirement having to deal with my Autism and ADHD, ECPTSD (Extreme Complex PTSD).
I was gifted not "bad" black girl, but a wise and smart girll turned woman. My mother is a Malignant Narcissist Parent Rejector. My father was the same and a womanizer who cares more about his other kids han his first born until they said I was Autistic and ADD, at that time - I'm a gen x black kid from Chicago. I'm blessed I'm still alive. Going back in time, lil Black kids had it rough in Chicago. I was greatly abused, esp by Chicago political policies.
Doc Snips I thank you so much! I get more help from ge vids than the docs I see, smh. ❤
52:30 we have to process trauma/grief where those emotions and feelings got created, most likely when we were young, so we have to take that into consideration that those things are still in there to a degree in processing as an adult. Big boys DO cry.
Ahhhhhh. Those were healing tears. A catharsis, if you will. I hope you feel better.
Perfectly said, thats why God gave man the ability to cry…..BIG BOYS ABSOLUTELY CRY! The ones who never show emotion are the ones that I have always been very leery of.
Ma’am you are truly doing God’s work here:) You’re one of a kind ❤️ I’d love to teach others as you are, especially amongst single mothers from backgrounds of abuse and neglect who are struggling with stress and are unaware of positive habits to recover.
Thanks for watching.
@Exceptional Enough To Excel that is also my dream. 💝🙏🏽

I loved how you mentioned exercise for creating new neurons and the importance of a healthy diet.
Therapy with physical exercise and a healthy diet is a potent combination.

I’ve always been active in sports but now that I feel more depressed i really don’t have the energy to go to the gym or anything
You are such a magnificent communicator, thank you so much for your so necessary work. Blessings to you Dr.
You are so welcome
I have to reiterate what many have expressed; Doc Snipes, you are the best lecturer/teacher/communicator that I’ve ever had the blessing of hearing! Your passion, enthusiasm, knowledge, and empathy, combined with the content of your lessons, is priceless! Thank you, sincerely, to you and all who make this possible. 🤗
I love how you simplify things so that it highlights how easy improving our health can be when we are not intimidated by what can seem like overwhelming information.
best thing for sleep make sure you are tested for sleep apnea. brain cant heal if you cant sleep well bc of apnea. If you snore go get tested.
Yes, and there are a whole bunch of other sleep disorders as well, like delayed sleep phase onset, hypopnea, alpha-delta sleep anomaly, idiopathic CNS hypersomnia, or narcolepsy, for just a few examples. Anyone who wakes up feeling worse than when they went to bed should probably have a sleep test.
Every time I listen to this content about trauma I feel more and more of a sense of control. I was treated like an object by my father. Everything he did was to trap me, not set me free in life. I understand why I had a problem with claustrophobia because this relationship with my father traumatized me. I felt my only option was to be as good at it as I could, but I was being used and drained when he was supposed to be the one to save me with empowerment. "Life is not Fair" was his famous "advice". I am "tracing" a lot of my anxiety to this.
I am so sorry that happened to you and I am so grateful for you watching videos and supporting the channel. How will you start rewiring the traumatized brain?

I've been trying to figure out how to start healing from past trauma and of course, I visited UA-cam. Many of the other videos I found essentially advised me to see a therapist. Though I believe there is value in therapy, I want to get started now and do some exploration on my own. Your video was informative and empowering. Thank you so much for this information. I will definitely be subscribing to your channel.

This was incredibly helpful after being diagnosed with PTSD for a nonconsensual invasive medical procedure, more than two years after the incident. I feel like I was robbed of my life, especially since I'll never get those first two years with my child back, but it's good to feel hopeful about getting better and getting back to enjoying life. There are next to no resources in my rural area, so online tools like this have been essential. Thanks for posting!

No one has been able to articulate like you have (for me). Everything you speak is right on point. Thanks.
You’re so welcome. I am glad I was able to help. How will you undo the effects of trauma?
The line of 'anxiety is an indicator that there MIGHT be a threat. Not that there IS one' ... Thats huge. Thats already changing a lot on how I feel about my own struggles with anxiety.
Glad it helps. Thanks for watching. Wishing you peace, health, and happiness.
I became agoraphobic for a long time. Eventually came out of it through CBT, but couldn’t point to any specific experience that would have caused it. Now I realize why 🖤 thanks!
Thanks for watching. Wishing you peace, health, and happiness.
This video should be mandatory CEUs for all health providers and particularly now for Mental Health Professionals and Students.
Some 'textbook smart' Providers do NOT 'get' this and often re-traumatize by invalidating.
This video should be a required certification, annually, like CPR is.
May save some lives.
I appreciate you watching. What was your favorite strategy from the video?
This information was so very helpful! I saw myself in almost every slide. Lifelong trauma from first my father then a traumatic marriage. It’s been y years and I’m still healing, I’m finally able to take my body under control. Currently recently diagnosed with high cortisol, thyroid issues and always on progesterone cream. Like I said your video was just what I needed, you explain so clearly. Thank you
Thanks for watching.
Wow. You just explained how I felt for the last decades. Thanks for your channel!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching. Wishing you peace, health, and happiness.
You've come along to capture my attention at just the perfect time and I'm so grateful. Thank you!
I enjoy watching a notable portion of the videos you release if they happen to pertain to different areas of adversity and struggle in my life as well as the odd, idiosyncratic topic that just sounds intriguing and makes me want to understand the various ailments and trauma that people experience on a daily basis. From all the videos I've seen of yours thus far (fairly new youtube subscriber), they all are presented in a professional, concrete/easy to understand way and showcase scientific, empirical and/or academic based material, but I feel like videos like this one in particular shine above the rest (not discounting how good the other ones are) because there are so many disparate topics all combined into one deep-dive that shows how they are all actually interconnected. Not to mention all the easy to implement suggestions you offer that can change one's life in strides if followed consistently and over a long period of time. The main purpose of me commenting is for no other reason than to show my appreciation for your hard work as well as utilize the archive system youtube has in place for comments so that it's easier to find important videos across several youtube channels that I would like to go back to if I ever need to refresh on certain topics :)
Awesome! I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts. Thanks for watching. Wishing you peace, health, and happiness.
Great comment Doug MacArthur. I like her videos and advice too. They provide great knowledge and understanding.

Thank you. I was diagnosed with dysautonomia and postural orthostatic tacychardia syndrome as a result of Covid pneumonia. I am still struggling 8 months later and it has been a very dark time for me. This makes me feel like a like at the end of tunnel and relief is possible. All my doctor's just say it will never go away and I'm going to have to just learn to deal with it. They give such bleak diagnosis because they can't just give me a pill and make it better. I will definitely start doing these things you suggested. 🙏
@JA remember this: drs are limited by their own learning experiences and training. And, science is new almost every day.
So don't ever ever give up. This comes from someone who in 1/4 of time, has recuped what most people do in 15-20 years thank God for helping me find videos like these that teach us and guide us through our struggles. Then when visiting drs you know the questions to ask. If a dr I went, was not to my satisfaction, I looked for another one.
Especially when it comes to the brain and the mind, there is not much training in medical school for the unseen and unpredictable. So drs cannot treat it.
Document 📄 taking notes about your eating, sleeping, emotional patterns with daily life activities, and medication time and frequency if taking any.

Holy crap, i might have that.
Ive been suffering for years with weird problems with hearth, breathing, and other regulatory functions.
I had walking pneumonia very a very long time. How does pneumonia cause nerve damage like this though?
I have the same thing but also chronic fatigue after childbirth. The names of these conditions do not reflect how deathly they feel. Its hard to be normal. Know there are many out there feeling same...

Try checking with Bessel van der Kolk's people - we've moved on A LOT from here.
Firstly, the progression of basic trauma into (C)PTSD
Secondly, a general model of healing, draining the reflex reaction in the amygdala. The empirical methods all do the same thing:
1. Focus the subject on the trigger causing the issues
2. Drop them into cognitive suppression (ie meditation). The cognitive suppression frees a limbic process which autonomously drains the response associated with the trigger. It no longer then causes an issue, a trigger simply gets no response.
2a. As a personal experiment, a Kinetic Shift session did as expected, I then used Reiki (a fancy name for a healing gift) to flood it with agape. I now get a warm hug back!
I needed this information desperately today. Thank you! 😊💜🙏
Welcome.
Me too
Thank you for doing this. The focus on recovery is appreciated.
You are so welcome!
Great video as always. And it’s nice we can see you better in this video!

Here's a story for you.
At the age of 21 I woke from a coma for 8 days. I had to learn how to walk, talk and eat with a fork all over again. With writing, I especially struggled with the number 9. Funny thing that I still do 30 years later.
It took about a half hour to read a paragraph and understand it. Five years later I got it down to about 10 to 15 minutes to read an entire page. Progress. But academics was out of the question. So I went to tractor trailer school, which had light reading that I could handle. At the age of 26 I went to machine shop school. Again, manageable reading. I finally got into the trade. When people would give me verbal instructions to operate machinery, they would get frustrated or even furious when I asked them to repeat themselves three times. I get it. They don't get it that I struggled with processing information. Years went by and I finally got VERY good at a VERY specific skill in the trade. So 30 years later people come to me and ask me questions. My answer is always, "well, let's go look at it and figure it out".
Seasons and chapters in life. I feel lucky that I made it through a trauma so intense it caused psoriasis from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet for over a decade.
Bread crumbs I've picked up along my journey in this life:
If you think you can, you will. If you think you can't, you're right!
Belief creates the fact.
In the darkest skies, the stars are best seen.
Thanks for watching and for sharing
Amen. Just carry on you are the best!❤

You’re so welcome. What is the first thing you are planning to do to rewire your brain?
Thank you Doc Snipes for explaining this
✨Doc, I've been listening to you long before the C💉😅 and I want to say that I love the work that you do by putting the masses on to this information when so many of us suffer from mental disease(s). You awaken us with remedies, knowledge, and the discovery of information about ourselves so that we are aware and can self heal.
I thank the heavens for your existence- as I am grateful for YOU💚.
You’re so welcome! Thank you so much for watching the video and for being with me for so long. I am grateful for that. Please let me know if there are any videos in particular that would be of use to you. Thank you!
Recommended: Listen at .75x as those of us with “brain damage” need a slower pace and lower tone of voice.
Thank you for this excellent video Doc!
Thanks for watching and for sharing
The touch therapy you recommended for the vagus nerve relaxation instantaneously gave me chills of relief when I tried it. Thank you so much for helping me get through the day!

I love this video, I've re-watched it several times, I think "fear/afraid" could be the "f" you're looking at ~12:27. Thanks so much for you're work, it helps me more than my actual therapy a lot of the time.
Wow. You are one of my favorites. Your teaching is excellent. I love how you recap throughout the lesson. Thank you for helping us folks.

@@DocSnipes I also like that you actually explain what we can do about the trauma, instead of giving a fatalistic narrative that is repeated over and over again.
Thank you so much. This was amazing information.
You’re so welcome! Glad I was able to help. Thank you so much for watching
Thanks for all the excellent content!
Thanks for watching.
Thank you. Crps from a work injury 21 years ago. First 15 years was excruciating traumatic pain, wanted to die. 25 stellate ganglion blocks later + alot of ketamine & prp injections helped me break away from 18 years of dilaudid. Left me with complex ptsd though. Your thorough explanation of things means alot to me. No doctor has been able to explain exactly why I feel so rattled at times when I'm not even in alot of pain. Thank you again.
This is so interesting and helpful!
Glad you think so!

@51.30 One day I was feeling anxious, due to being at home, alone and bored for too long (which triggered old memories of loneliness and abandonment). I used my will power to do something practical, using the logical part of the brain. On that occasion it was writing out as many Christmas cards as possible. My reasoning was, 'I have very little spare time and need to get this done'. This method calmed my anxiety.
I am glad that worked for you. Thank you for sharing it with us. I appreciate you watching

The vagus nerve is tied into the acid-base balance part of body. When the nerve becomes irritated in the diaphragm, we hiccup. Our blood pH is normally 7.35-7.45 arterially & in an acute setting, our bodies will increase or decrease respiration to maintain that level. In chronic situations, the kidneys become involved. Chronic stress really is harmful to individuals. Inflammation leads to platelet aggregation & heart attack/stroke.
