It’s funny how different we are all taught how to paint, but in the end we get the same results! I walk the entire length of the vehicle with base, and clear! Nice job man
@@PaintSociety my problem is that I'm painting in my home garage so I need the clear is dry as fast as possible. You're right though, I'm sure even a medium clear will lay out much better as it cures.
Great results on your example car, great video with you narrating as you did the work and no silly music or rambling on. Thank you for the quality video.
You have taught me so much brian. I want to express my sincere gratitude for you and your videos. I considered myself an amateur and then I discovered your videos. You teach me so much, and I have watched every single video you've put out. I just sprayed my first Best of Show winning car here in Washington state. And It's all thanks to you! Thanks again. Can't wait for the next one (it took 41 complete color changes before the 42nd car won best of show btw, so it wasn't over night. But it is thanks to you!)
Brilliant. I have a classic. It needs painting each time I watch one of your video s I learn a little when I feel I have enough information I will paint my car. Thank you for empowering me to attempt this
I wanted to spray my motorcycle fairings on my ZX-10R. A fresh Kawasaki green. I understand the concept of spraying base and clear but I get super confused on what equipment to get, reducer, primer, filler, etc etc at all gets complicated. Maybe I should try rattle canning it with clear 2k for my first go around?
Ha ! wish you had posted this 2 days ago, painted some base coat over some etch and it reacted! i had no idea why at the time. ill watch this vid 100 times, its a lot of information, thankyou again! hope you have a good new year mate!!! take care from England
I like to pick up random inexpensive used body panels like hoods and fenders to practice on when I haven't picked up my paint gun in a while. Some leftover base coat and clear gives me an opportunity to practice on some insignificant sheet metal. Cool thing is I can cut and polish those same panels, then sand and respray them again and repeat.
Brian, I watched your videos for 3 months and it finally had the courage to paint the car. It was a 3 month project but I went from Apex Silver to Alfa Romeo Red on my Evo 9. If you’re interested, I would like you to see the car and May be use it in your UA-cam content. I live in northwest Florida and I can stop by and visit the area. You helped me a lot
I’m sad to say that I have learned more from your videos Brian then when shadowing in a production shop. With material you present and way you cover it it’s getting me amped to dig back into my old color change project car that I’ve stored away for years because of concern with messing up what was already accomplished with the jams being painted by who I thought would guide me through entire process but didn’t.
Hello Brian . I am a beginner and your video really helped me a lot .I've been watching your videos but my English listening is not very good . Could I ask you a question ? In this 3:30 minutes, what types of products did you use? Thank you !
Thanks for the great instructions. I have not sprayed since I was at Automotive Tech, in college 1999. Just one question. Can I fix and spray a door moulding on the vehicle? This moulding is not offered as a new part for my 22 year old Infiniti.
What do you look for of if it needs another coat of clear or not? Would we try to put an extra layer on just to be able to buff and polish more without burning through?
I would like to see something along the line of paint prep decision. Do you sand all the paint down to bare metal or sand existing paint to bond to the new paint? Particularly with older cars. It does not make sense to me, to grind to bare metal when you have a sound paint barrier already there. Is this a money grab or something else? What sort of check list can you go through to determine if you need to sand to bare metal or prep what ya got. Obviously one method is more expensive than the other with labor hours and materials.
Awesome video Brian happy New Year 🎆 to you and the family guidance and respect for 2023 and thanks 🙏 for sharing those useful tips with us keep bringing those boss videos for 2023 paint society all the way 👍😂i really enjoyed that video much love ❤️ have a bless Sunday Brian 🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍🎆🎆✨✨👌👌👌💯💯💯💯👊👊
could you do a video on a older paint job, mid 80s? I would like to clean up the paint but not looking for show quality , I just want to seal the paint and fix many small rust spots . I also have a scratch down the entire passenger side from a razor knife (some one got mad because I took "their" parking spot). The front edge of the hood for example has the paint mainly intact but has many small chips that have surface rust in them . I guess I would need to remove all the older paint , factory filler, down to bare metal across the entire front edge of the hood to fix the spots ?
Hey, I’m doing a full paint job. I’m spraying in a big tent, I was able to base but not clear because it getting late and bugs. Can I just clear over it in the morning? Almost I saw a tiger stripe on the roof, when I clear will it be noticeable?
I bought a cheap tent from Harbor freight, I put paintable plastic on the walls and two fans in front I spent less than $200 and it worked very well. I had the same problem because I live in Mississippi.
Thanks for the tips, do you have videos on Edge Mapping? Those rings you get after bondo then primer. How to fix? Or What you did wrong for that to happen?
Hey thanks for the videos and teachings, I watched a few videos as im wanting to paint an aluminum boat. I'm using an acrylic black paint. Can the 2k primer be used on aluminum? As you can't have any primer with copper as it will eat the aluminum. I came here wanting to learn about sanding primer and your videos answered my concerns. Also if I can't use 2k primer I was going to use a epoxy barrier coat type primer. And then sand it and then spray it. Your thought or advice if any. Thanks
Thanks for another great tutorial. You go over many things in various videos, but each one has a few different nuggets of information to learn. Are you doing a cut/buff after these jobs, or releasing them right out of the booth?
Hey Brian so I’m planning on painting my engine bay shortly here on my 1989 Nissan 240sx I’m currently in the process of doing some rust repair than I’ll go ahead and scuff the whole bay with a maroon scuffing pad, all the areas with bare metal will get a self etching primer than a 2k primer and than I’ll do base and clear to the whole bay does this process sound solid? As well in terms of brand what would you recommend in terms of getting the base mixed up in and clear?
I think its important to mention that there are different tack rags available, be sure to use a basecoat specific tack rag when tacking basecoat and also to use very light pressure when doing so. Another thing for beginners is to NEVER use generic cut up clothing rags for wiping down the panel with wax and grease remover and to only use preparation rags for this as the detergents in these old clothes will react with the wax and grease remover and cause wipe down marks in the newly sprayed basecoat.
Happy new year!! Another great video. I'm very new to painting. I'm using a turbine paint system to do my 55 chevy this summer. Could you go go thru trigger technique? When are you letting off the trigger? It looks like your flicking your wrist and the end of the pass and not letting off.Just looking to clarify so I can get this right. Thank you
In one of your videos where you click on show more what products you use and where to buy off of amazon, you listed oil eater you use to degrease before painting, is that good or ok to use? i always buy that to clean up spilt oil or whatever off my garage floor but never heard of using it to degrease before painting.
Hi Brian, love your videos and really appreciate your videos and time you commit to help us abd really appreciate your help mate thanx. A weekend worrier here and I need to add some white pearls to a white paint on a full car I am Planning to paint in Future to make the paint look like the Toyota Pearl look . My gun doesn't atomize clear well enough for me to stop in the middle of the panel so I'm forced to do the full length in one go.

Depends which coats. Most of the time recommend rescuff, 1 coat of that previous layer of paint, then continue to your next step.
