  • Every artist has felt the sting of frustration when their work doesn't live up to their expectations. Whether you're an emerging artist still finding your style or a seasoned professional, creative frustration is a universal experience. It's that sinking feeling when your vision doesn't align with the outcome on the canvas, or when you see the gap between your current skills and where you want to be.
One of the most perplexing challenges artists face is the Dunning-Kruger effect-a cognitive bias where individuals with limited knowledge or skill in a particular area overestimate their abilities. This phenomenon can be especially crippling in the creative field. When you're just starting out, you might feel confident, even overconfident, in your abilities. But as you learn more and your skills develop, you become acutely aware of your shortcomings. This awareness can lead to a steep drop in confidence, making you question your talent and creative potential.
This cycle of self-doubt can be incredibly discouraging, leading many artists to put down their brushes, pens, or cameras. The frustration of feeling like your work isn't "good enough" or that you're not progressing fast enough can become overwhelming. It’s a vicious cycle-your dissatisfaction with your art makes it harder to create, and the less you create, the more your skills stagnate.
If you're feeling this way, you're not alone. Many artists experience this at some point in their journey. It's a natural part of the creative process, a growing pain that comes with pushing your boundaries and striving to improve.
But how do you find the resilience to keep going when you feel like you're stuck in a rut? Today, I discuss five tips to help you push through these tough times and regain your creative confidence. Understanding these emotional hurdles is the first step toward overcoming them.

There's good parts to both and I can be grateful for how I have learnt and progressed and now I know more what I want for my art 😌
