That's exactly what I thought; the predator angle was unnecessary. Kionna could have been a grown woman, and his character would have still been a piece of sh!t. Making him a child predator meant that I didn't give a damn about his "redemption" later on.

When I was younger I saw no issue with DMX character grooming the teenager because in the hood it happened so frequently and we saw it so often its like people just turned a blind eye to it or they hid it well. Now that I'm grown revisiting this movie that man was a whole pedophile! And I'm sure that teenager thought she was so mature for her age that she was attracting an older man. That is a bad way to look at it. That was a predator molesting a kid. And Keisha didn't even gripe about her age she was more concerned about the girl giving him head. Smh.

He originally supposed to play Tommy (Dmx character) but hype changed his mind and casted X instead because X was the bigger name at the time. I was the only teenager in my circle of friends that never cared for this movie, because it was indeed a 1 hr. long music video. The visuals were stunning in certain scenes (namely the opener; I'll never forget the blacklight in the club and how it reflected on the men's eyes), and other scenes it was just...strange. Also, even as a young girl, I've always been big on plot and acting, and "Belly"...just didn't have that. However, it's chock full of Hip-Hop and R&B legends that I adore, and it takes me back to a time when life was virtually carefree and happy. Plus, I remember loving DMX's love scene (LOL). @@professorxaviour3649 In all honesty, I'm not sure if you're sincerely asking or if you're delivering a read, but either way, I'll bite. When it comes to a movie with a deep, coherent plot, "Carrie" comes to mind (the original film from 1976). Not only is the story itself engaging, but there's deep themes throughout the movie regarding blood/menstruation, bullying, abuse, and coming of age/womanhood.
Another good film with an engaging plot is the recent film, "Missing." The plot is pretty simple: a woman ends up missing after failing to return home from her vacation in Colombia, and her tech savvy daughter has to find her. However, the constant twists and turns in the story keep you on the edge of your seat, plus I love how the story is presented exclusively with devices (computers, cell phones, smart watches, backup cameras in cars, etc.).

OMG!! This is a timeless classic, and I can watch this over and over again. Also to say that this was not a huge box office movie, without a huge budget, it was extremely good, the storyline was absolutely amazing, there were really nice homes in this movie, mansions, and vehicles. The LEGENDS in this movie. 🤯 I ALWAYS ALWAYS thought Naz was so freaking attractive, and he hasn't aged one bit. I loved his name Sincere, and my ole man's best friend's son's name is Sincere. You can literally watch this movie today, and not even realize what year it came out. Also it was shot really well, shout out to Hype Williams, who shot most of our favorite classic music videos. Shout out to OUR culture mayne. Keisha was a bad bih, beautiful, BEAUTIFULLY MELANATED, 🤎👑🤎 smooth skin, baddie!! Method Man fine ass, and still super fine as fuk!! Ox was one of my favorite characters in this movie, and he had that bread bread. It's so amazing how so many music videos, and movies are pretty much inspired by "Scarface". I enjoy it though, because "Scarface" is a classic. I also ABSOLUTELY love Nicki Minaj featuring Lil Wayne's "High School" music video which was inspired by "Scarface". Also one of my favorite R&B singers from back in the day Avant music video "Don't say No" was inspired by "Scarface" as well.

I really liked how the movie was shot with the black lights. It was unique to Hype Williams style, you know back then everyone had their own signature thing, which I appreciate it, like Spike Lee had his signature style and his movies the way they were shot, but today we don't have that. Which takes away from the uniqueness we had in the 90s, and early 2000's. back then you definitely could not steal someone's style, it would have been a problem, and that was the best thing about back then.

I didn’t have much exposure to hip hop/rap culture growing up, and so when I would visit my cousins in the city, I would get more exposure to these things, which is how I discovered this gem and most of the films you’ve covered! Fun Fact: Tyrin Turner (Rico & Caine from Menace II Society) auditioned for the role of Tommy, after he didn’t get it, he got the role of Rico. His plan was to sabotage the role but it turned out to be iconic. Can we please get reviews on the following movies:
