Four score and 110k members ago, i started following this channel. Not for your giveaways but because of the sheer joy of watching someone who is simply excellent at his craft, and humble enough to share his secrets. I have not used those secrets, but I have shared the joy with family and friends. Thank you fpr your content. I believe your charisma and charm would have you with this many followers even without the giveaways. Keep up the good work. Oh and btw, if I did happen to ever win a bowl, I can promise you that NEVER, EVER, in a million years, would I ever turn it down. 😅😅😅😅 God be with you.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
YES, exactly that!!!! Well said!
Bonjour Jim; the rich maple grain goes very well with the inlays. Congrats to the winner, M. Reaney. I’m quite surprised than you had no spare blade for the saw. I like the way you keep these mishaps in your videos, it shows your integrity and honesty.
Kudos for another beautiful creation.
Thanks 👍 much appreciated!
Congrats Michael, the new owner of a beautiful bowl… a Jimmy’s creations… lucky you are!
Thanks so much!
When I saw the thumbnail, I thought it was gold epoxy. The bird's eye maple is so much more beautiful than the gold would have been.
Thanks so much!
Congratulations to the very lucky winer. Another lovely bowl from Jim.
Thank you very much!
I know it's Thursday night, but we can't wait for tomorrow morning! We just had a dinner chat about how we're looking forward to tomorrow's newest project. 🤗 It's always a fun surprise!!! Best to you and your wife.💙👊🏼
Hope you enjoy! Thanks
That bowl is beautiful. When it comes to making things random, that is not just you. What helps me is looking for patterns in nature. So, instead of making something random, I'd look at a piece of wood, for example, and draw out the 3 features that stand out the most. You can even cheat and trace things directly. Hope this helps.
Oh, I’ll be looking for cool voids in the future and tracing them, lol. Thanks
Designer Epoxy:
That's a truly beautiful piece! The aluminum shavings really make it pop, and are a nice contrast to the wood.
Thank you very much!
Congratulations to Michael on becoming the lucky owner of the beautiful inlaid bowl!
Thank you very much!
Amazing. You are your own worst critic...lol. Really enjoyed watching the creative process on this one. The wood burning with the inlay is perfect!!! See you next week! And congrats on 120K!!!!
Thank you very much!
Time goes so fast. I can’t believe I subscribed so long ago. I have never been disappointed. I didn’t start making comments till about I don’t know, a year and a half ago, maybe just a year ago, don’t remember.but I have always loved everything you’ve made.
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it!
Great save from the firewood pile ! I like the use of aluminum shavings. Great project.
Thank you very much!
Jim, as a fellow woodturner, I really enjoy your work! My wife and I are learning different techniques from you! We’ve been binge watching your videos and enjoying each video! Keep up the great work! Designer Epoxy is still some of the best product available! Looking forward to next Friday’s video! The aluminum shavings in this piece worked out very well.
Thank you very much!
Hi Jim, beautiful as always. Wood is amazing when it get turned and shined up. Congrats to the winners. You will be at you new home. Have a great week ahead.
Thank you very much!
Love this bowl. Beautiful maple and aluminum shavings are spectacular. The tinting was just right. Keep up the great work. Congrats to the winner of this bowl.
Thank you very much!
Very beautiful and creative renovation of this bowl. Love the aluminum shavings. Thanx for sharing with us.
My pleasure! Thanks
Thanks Jim, for sharing another one of your woodturning bowls with us UA-cam watchers. This was such a unique vision you had in making it. Congratulations Michael Reaney!🎉 For winning the 120K Subscriber bowl. I’m sure you will take pride in owning one of Jim’s art bowl pieces.
Beautiful again big bro😊
Thank you very much!
Congratulations Michael on winning this beautiful bowl! Jim is a true artist! Enjoy!!!
Thank you kindly
Very noce. Those aluminum shavings were quite beautiful. Grats on 120k and grats to the winners. Designer epoxy.
Thank you! Cheers!
Mr Sprague, i just enjoy sitting and watching the processes you use to overcome issues. That is so cool!
Thank you so much!
I am sorry to see rude comments Jim! While I can understand being disappointed, it is a giveaway and only one person can win out of literally thousands who comment every week. We should be thankful for the opportunity to have a giveaway. I know I am. ( off topic, and to my original reason for commenting😂..) Also psychologically our brains see and look for patterns. I believe it is almost impossible for anyone to make truly random things Jim. I believe all is normal❤ hugs. And beautiful job on the bowl. Love it as always.
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it!
Dealing with rude comments are just part of the fun of being a content creator for UA-cam. I do find it a little disheartening to see comments like that though. I totally need to work on my randomness, lol. Thank you very much!
@@SpragueWoodturning you are very welcome!
@@SpragueWoodturning hugs❤️ it is very disheartening to see them. Keep your head up💜
@@SpragueWoodturning your welcome
When I saw what you were doing with the aluminum shavings I thought it was going to be a disaster. However I really loved the way those pockets turned out. The maple was beautiful as well. Great job Jim.
Thank you very much!
The Birds Eye is beautiful, but the metal shavings look awesome! You did good! Thanks Jim!
Thank you! Cheers!
I like the combination of the aluminum with this wood…it looked like the area around the birds’ eyes had a grayish cast that went with the silvery gray…love it!
Thank you very much!
Another beautiful piece. I was wondering if the aluminum shavings would be as shiny as they are but they turned out amazing, and that wood!!!!!
Thank you very much!
I love the look of the aluminum inclusions in this piece! I think your method of creating additional inlay areas will only get better with time and practice. The tree-made inlay area has more rounded edges, with thinner fingers coming off of it, and of course shoots through the bowl at an angle, so the inside and outside are slightly different shapes. I'm excited to watch you work on your process!
In terms of making things look random, you're totally not wrong, human brains HATE random things. We like to see patterns in everything, it's one of our major evolutionary advantages.
Congrats on your channel growth, it's so earned! Absolutely understand the need to switch the giveaways to every ten thousand, makes total sense.
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it!
Congrats on 120K!! Great "Restoration" of that bowl blank. It is anything but blank now. Enjoy your weekend Brother.🍻
Thanks! You too!
I am so glad that it is a bowl and not firewood!
The shavings look awesome.
Thank you very much!
Hey Jim. Just like old times! Saving a bowl with inlays. The metal looks great. And that maple is gorgeous! I hope the home this bowl gets is a good one!
Me too! Thank you very much!
Omg, I am in love. Reminds of when we used to go copper mining and you would have the shiny metal peeking out of the matrix.
Thank you very much!
From trash to treasure. Understatement. Love the thinner sides of this bowl, I have just the project for some Designer Epoxy.
Sounds great! Thanks
The aluminum shavings gave it a really cool effect.
Absolutely, thanks!
Really love the contrast between the natural burl and aluminum shavings. Outstanding!
Thank you very much!
Very nice, congrats on 120000. I love the birds eye maple, the random cut outs are great, the aluminum adds a beautiful touch to a fine piece of art. Thanks on information on the power cap respirator. Designer Epoxy.
My pleasure. Thanks!
A nice cup of coffee and a couple of your videos and beautiful artwork and that is an evening well spent! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks
That is stunning! Maple is my favorite! The random sections are fantastic! I honestly do not think you can make a bad one. You deserve to have a million subscribers.
Thank you so much!
Nice bowl, Jim! (To be honest, though, I'm not a big fan of the shavings, but I love everything else you have done.) I love watching you work, and hearing your explanations. Congratulations to Michael and Jason!
Designer Epoxy 😊
Fair enough, thanks!
We watched you on the big TV today and our friends were as mesmerized as we always are. Hoping to help build your following. Beautiful piece!

Awesome! Thank you so much! Much appreciated!

I'd also like to add that as a wife who's moved 9 times in 28 years and a (short term) realtor...I feel for you and (especially) your wife. It can be the MOST stressful time in life. Me and my husband (who's Canadian) think of you guys often. Honestly, you've been in our prayers. If I could give any advice it would be to attain a blank or lined book that is just for ALL things about the move. One source that holds movers, lists of items to keep, sell, donate... Programs in Canada that offer help to turn on elec., gas, internet, change of address forms, etc. *I find those come with helpful coupons, too.
I've saved each book from our moves. They're FULL of memories and scotch taped important papers. But they kept us sane!!! *And less likely to argue from stresses.💕👊🏼
Well...Best of luck, friends!!! If I think of anything else, I'll be sure to pass it along. **And I'll try to be shorter with words!! 🤭😳😉
A very interesting concept. I love the bird's eyes and the little inlay on the bottom. I love that you are always trying to push your work to make something different.
Thank you! 😊
Aluminium?!😮 Wow! I would have never thought of that. Great result. I love it.
Thank you!
Holy Moses, Jim! That piece is freaking amazing! So much to love. The wood itself is beautiful. But those Aluminium shavings and the way they catch the light is so eye-catching! While the burned outine makes the whole thing just Pop!
Bravo!
Thank you very much!
Love that you scorched the inlay areas; very cool effect!
Thank you so much!
Designer Epoxy
I ADORE this piece. Normally I prefer epoxy instead of inlaid. I always love your work. This piece has the most interesting wood grain. I could easily look at it all day and see something new and marvelous every time.
Thank you very much!
An absolutely lovely bowl. The maple works so well with the aluminum shavings. Congratulations to the winners.
Thank you very much!
The bowl is beautiful. Love the maple and the inlays with Designer Epoxy are just the touch.
Thank you very much!
Once again, you did a great job. I think the aluminum shavings are really cool and the ball turned out really nice. I hope that you have a great weekend and a great week. Thank you for sharing your experience again with all of us and how to do a different types of lays.
Designer epoxy
Thank you again, and take care
Thank you very much!
I just love this bowl, especially the inlay areas. At some angles they look like ice shards! A very pretty bowl indeed. Thanks for another great video, Jim. Designer Epoxy
Thank you very much!
Fantastic result with the aluminum shavings and the wood just keeps on giving something new at every turn. Lovely piece.
Thank you very much!
I like the burned outline around the inlay. Makes its stand out nicely like an old time map ;) Great that you can so beautifully save pieces that might otherwise end up in the fire pit!
Thank you very much!
Congrats on the achievement!
Design Epoxy
Thank you! Cheers!
Another stunning piece. That BEM sure has character. Congrats on 120k subscribers.
Congrats to the winners.
Thank you so much 😀
Good morning, Jim. I take a walk in my woods to find the randomness you may be looking for.
I walk the dogs and just look for funky-shaped fallen bark, odd broken and down branch junctions, etc. Then, I just trace around an area needing repair.
I let Mother Nature solve my lack of imagery issues. 🤫
Good plan. Thank you very much!
Good idea! I heard someone say that about color - look in nature. She opened an artichoke and matched 2 greens, a cream, and the purple, a combination I never would have put together. It was beautiful!! She said “If Mother Nature made it, it goes together.” Good idea frankashworth5961.
Congratulations on 120K subscribers. Beautiful wood turning every week and always a pleasure to watch and listen. Great craftsmanship.
Thank you very much!
The bowl is absolutely beautiful. I love the metal shavings. Even the the parts that you made look natural and the birdseye Maple is a stunning wood. All in it's just wonderful. ❤🎉
Thank you very much!
Another stunning piece made from some truly unique material. It is amazing to see the end result of you testing the limits with out of the box materials. Congratulations on 120,000 subscribers.
Thank you very much!
Fantastic looking bowl Jim! I love all the grain variations and how the burning you did really highlights the aluminium shavings A great way to save a bowl that could have ended up in the burning pile. Hope all goes well with the house sale so you can get on with the new build. Cheers
Thank you very much!
Very unusual! You're always raising the bar! Designer Epoxy
Thanks again!
Finally got caught up on my 40 you tube videos, and thanks to your friend for the aluminum tailings mixed with DESIGNER EPOXY. Another beautiful bowl
Thanks so much!
I loooove the juxtaposition of silver and black!
Thank you very much!
Thank you to your sponsors!
Thanks!
I love this bowl. Thanks Jim! I really like how you burned the inlay area before doing it.
Thank you very much!
I'm glad a man won this bowl because it has such a masculine energy! I love it! I would like to have seen a more rounded carve on those areas. Even with the burns, it's still very sharp. A beauty regardless! Congrats winners!
Thank you very much!
It is pretty normal for people to have issues designing "random". Humans just want to see patterns.
Chatoyancy! So lovely! I like the metal shavings, I think the work well. Well worth saving this funky blank.
Designer Epoxy
Thanks so much!
Don’t let rude comments bother you Jim, we both know there is one born every minute. 😡 Thanks to Designer Epoxy for their giveaway. 😊
They usually don’t, lol. I’ve heard it all in the army, haha. Thanks.
This man is a master of Designer Epoxy! I love the silver and gold in this bowl 💕
Thank you very much!
When your saw blade broke and I was like 😮😮😮
Humans naturally look for patterns, so I’m not surprised you’re having issues making something feel random - add to that that you’re close to the project, it’ll feel different to you.
I think you did an excellent job of making it cohesive - and I love that the filings look they’re dancing! Little bit freaky, lottle bit awesome.
Sorry for my late response. I've been watching on the go, so don't have time to comment. I totally dig this piece. I like that your willing to work with materials most wouldn't consider
Thank you very much!
And I am exactly the same with making things look natural and random. I am a math major through and through, I think very geometrically. I saw some beautiful handmade Christmas cards one year and I decided I wanted to do that. Mine looked dreadful!! 😅 If I put a snowflake in this corner, I have to put one in every corner. I cannot make anything that requires some random placement of [____] fill in the blank. I just can’t do it, my brain won’t go there. So I feel you on that one. But I loved the inlay areas! And, my mom always said: “There’s a hat for every head and a head for every hat.” Some people will like this and not that, and vice versa. I loved this piece!!!
It’s surprising hard to do, lol. Thanks
@@SpragueWoodturning I see some people make it look so easy! My brain just won’t do it. I can even drop stuff from height and they will land in a geometric pattern. It’s our struggle Jim! 🥹
😂😂
You managed to make everything work out, but it is possible that you wanted to do each inlay section one at a time, not all at once. I had to learn to make "natural" edges by making asymmetrical Celtic knots. The blue tinted resin filled in the negative space on the inlay, making the burnt outlines pop. Matched nicely with the bird's eye. Beautiful piece 🥰
Thank you very much!
I BFA and I can remember in art school having a professor say "You have to practice and concentrate to learn to be random. People naturally fall into rhythms and patterns."
So true! Thanks!
Congrats Jim! Design Epoxy all the way. No such thing as scrap wood.
Thank you very much!
I’d like to better my chances, but I can’t do it. Fix the spelling mymusic1509:
designER epoxy
Very cool look with the aluminum inlays. The one in the inside/bottom kinda looks like a baby elephant without legs. Depending on how you turn it also looks like a lamb. 😂
Lol, thanks!
Turned out nice. My dad had an aluminum foundry for 50 years.
Cool! Thanks
Love the birds eye really compliments the aluminum shavings.
Thank you very much!
I love bowls like this, they have character. There's so much you can do with that. The Japanese use to fix their cracked porcelain bowls with gold repairs (I believe it was a shellac type glue coated with a gold powder) They were so beautiful they started breaking pottery and doing this repair.
To be honest the bowl is beautiful but I would have preferred a more natural filler like a solid black or an *amber color and not a shiny alum. filler. You could have embedded something in the amber like a fossil . There are semi-precious stones you can buy really cheap as well.
You’re referring to the Kintsugi method of repairing pottery, I’ve actually done that a number of times here on the channel. Thanks
Beautiful with the metal and colour effects 👍💫
Thanks again!
I don't have wood-turning skills, but have always been fascinated by it and love watching your channel. Thanks so much.
You are very welcome!
Great achievement. Congratulations 🎉
Many many thanks!
WOW! That is beautiful!
Thank you very much!
🎉congratulations on this milestone!
Can’t wait to watch your upcoming video!
Thank you very much!
Designer epoxy.
Outstanding, Jim.
At 10:49 the inlay looks like a small dog. At 10:59, the inlay resembles something with ears, nose, and mouth. Don't ask. That's just what pops into my head as I see them.
Keep up the great work and we'll see you next week. 😊😊
😂 thanks so much! Until next week!
This one made me think of a terminator with part of the flesh missing to show the metal under the skin, only it is a cyborg tree instead of a man. Very nice, wood and shavings both look cool. Congrats to the winners.
Cool, thanks!
Didn't know how I'd like the shavings at the beginning, but it turned out amazing!!!
Thank you very much!
Absolutely love ❤ and designer epoxy is a wonderful resin
Thank you very much!
Congrats Jim!!!! I got my husband addicted to your videos too 🤭
Designer epoxy
That is awesome! Thank you very much!
Very cool Inlay love how it turned out great job.
Thank you! Cheers!
Congratulations on 120 K!! Nice mix of materials. I had to go back and look at the blank. What a difference. Designer epoxy 👍!

This is an amazing project! Congrats to the winner.

I love the burn marks around the inlay looks like fractal burning, the blue with the aluminum just makes it all pop and look sexy
Designer epoxy
Thank you very much!
The wood is gorgeous. I can't believe that aluminum came out so well.
Thanks so much!
As always wonderful work and congratulations on flying towards 200K

Congratulations Michael!!!! I await the day when that is my surprise. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Amazed again, a reject bowl and some designer epoxy and you get something amazing.
Thank you! Cheers!
Just love watching you work! The shavings are super shiny. I had no idea it would be such a cool finish
Thank you very much!
Absolutely stunning!!! Never would have thought about cutting out an area to mimic what's already missing/damaged.
Once again a real stunner Jim. Congratulations on 120,00000. You've earned everyone of them with your skill, creativity and explanations.
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it!
Congrats on 120! Here's to 120,000 more! Beautiful and fascinating project this week, thanks for the vid!

Designer Epoxy is great. The bowl is beautiful. The smaller the aluminum shavings the better.
Thank you very much!
