    I rarely ever comment, but I wanted to tell you how much I love your commentary. I have watched other woodturners, but after watching you, I always come back to rewatch your videos because you explain what went wrong, how it didn't turn out to your vision, and how you problem solve. As an artist, I find it encouraging. Let's be real, it's not often that projects happen without incident. Painting, charcoal portraits, whatever the project, there's always something that happens. I find you inspiring. Thank you for sharing both the ups and downs of your process. Please don't ever stop.

    Okay, this is gonna be a longer comment... sorry (kinda). First, you share your "failures", and self-stated pain, anguish and disappointment. I LOVE that. You keep it real and let the rest of us beginners know that if it happens, its okay and fixable (for the most part). Next, You EXPLAIN the process and give the whys behind it all. THANK YOU. Not everything is perfect, nor should it be. The length of the videos is perfect, because it shows the whole process and that, to me, is wildly interesting. I also dig that your explain about temperatures, since I'm in Colorado, it gets cold here, as it does in Canada. Lastly, final results?? STUNNING. Stunning, stunning, stunning. Did I mention it is STUNNING?? Its gorgeous. Side note, my nickname that an old friend gave me a while back is Kintsugi, because I've been through A LOT in life and I keep fixing myself into a better person, but keeping that perfectly imperfect. So, there you go. Thanks, Jim. Take care and Much Love from Colorado Springs!

  • @christinecolvin1111
    @christinecolvin1111 7 місяців тому +3

    I've said it before, but I'll reiterate that I think that the hollow forms are where you seem to just let yourself have fun and get really creative. Such a beautiful piece! The color difference between the bottom and the collar wood is so dynamic and adds so much beauty and character.
    When you first started to rough out the shape, the flat plane right below the collar was reminiscent of a Greek amphora and I got all excited. I would love to see that shape done at some point!
    Frankly, I don't mind the longer videos as they let us see the full process. I like seeing the mistakes and fixes, how you go about the whole thing. But I also really appreciate seeing the creative process others go through when they make a thing.
    All in all, another amazing creation ❤️

    I love your videos!! I was every second of them. Mistakes happen all the time and seeing them being made and fixed is utterly amazing. You do such a wonderful job on all that you do!

    Awesome hollow form! I love the way the translucent shavings reflect in the epoxy, gives it a "magical" sparkly affect.

    Another beautiful piece. I love that you took the time for explanations as to why you cut the piece in half. Turned out great!

    I got a chuckle from you not liking how it was uneven between the wood and the shavings and thought to myself OCD much?😂😂😂 but know that I love watching a master at his craft! All of your videos have shown beautiful objects! Thank you for sharing your works with us!

    New t-shirt design coming in an alternative future from Sprague Woodturning: "My therapist said I have adhesion issues since resin came into my life." Thank you, Jim, for taking us through the entire process in creating this beautiful hollow form. It made me appreciate the end product even more!

    Very nice work Jim. I like watching your mistakes and repairs. If you're not making mistakes, you are not turning enough. Designer Epoxy.

    I love watching how you bring a new life to wood most of us just can’t imagine. You are a true artist. The best moment after watching all the changes each project goes through is when you wipe it down with the denatured alcohol. Wow!

    Always show the "not what I intended" and how you deal with it. Nothing more frustrating for someone new or learning than only showing the perfect stuff. Tends to inspire the I can't attitude when everybody else seems to make it perfect every time.
