We should have just adopted Sohni Dharti as the national anthem at some point. It has all the fittings of a good anthem and doesn't follow the boring orchestra model that the current one does.

I'm a Saraiki speaker and we used Sanskrit words therefore it is easy for me to understand Hindi than Urdu. Nowadays educated people don't want their children to learn Saraiki. EVEN if they learn Saraiki they learn an Urdu version of Saraiki where many Sanskrit words are replaced with Persian words. I think it's because my grandparents spoke Shudh/KHAKIS Saraiki, and we learned most from them.

I'm not knowledgeable about Urdu literature, but you can also add Mirza Ghalib and Prem Chand in the Great Authors list of Urdu literature (from an Indian perspective). And sure there are plenty of great Urdu writers from the Ganga-Jamuni Belt as well from Deccan. It's just, I suppose, they aren't in the school curriculum of most Pakistanis, and are unfortunately not looked much in India.

As a nation, from day 1 we are confused. Our rulers were always colonials (they still are). I've never understood the concept of independence as independence due to religion is a big lie, which has worked well for creating an extremist country. Our colonial rulers being colonials have thought of some languages being better than the others (arabic, persion, urdu, now its english). We can observe the same effect in our country, if a person speaks english, his opinion is given more weightage, based on a language, however I can convey the same in several other languages but it doesn't matter. Being the product of the colonial language, we are also the same, speaking english since one has become fluent and it comes naturally is fine, but its seen as a status, english speaking people are educated. The concept of a single uniting language is so absurd, given the fact that the subcontinent was a culture having a very large number of sub cultures, each unique having their own set of tradations, language, events etc (unlike the land of colonials whether we consider US, or european countries). Unfortunately, the languages have diminished over time, as a Sindhi I was taught sindhi in grade 4, but had to learn urdu from day 1 of school (it brought me 0 benefit). A confused state, yet seeking the reason of its existence after 78 years of independence.

Agreed…..it’s a mixture of so many languages including Persian, the national anthem of Pakistan is heavily Persianized but still Urdu! Before partition we use to speak Hindustani which is a mixture of Hindi and Urdu, after partition we Pakistanis started moving more towards Persian and Arabic and the Indian towards Hindi/Sanskrit but Bollywood still uses Hindustani but call it Hindi. If you listen to Mr Modi’s speeches he uses Hindi. Ghandi Ji used Hindustani….listen to Indian TV news and Pakistani TV news you will see the difference but for common man on the streets is still Hindustani but the way of writing is different……but this debate is going on for a very long time so I am going leave this right here! I live in USA and we Indians and Pakistanis understand each others, Indian will think he is speaking Hindi and Pakistani will think he is speaking Urdu…..very interesting 🤨

fact Hindus in the vicinity of Pakistan is their living past, which they are denying vehemently.
What Pakistanis say about their pre-islamic ancestry:
All those whose title is Sheikh are Arabs: The fact is that all Sheiks are either converted from Kashmiri Pundits or from Khatris like Saigols.
All those with title of Mirza are descendants of Mughals: This is only partly true, as most of the Rajput converts and even non converts were given the title of Mirza like Mirza Raja Jai Singh.
All those with the titles of Saiyyad are true descendants of Mohammad: This is mostly fake. People took this title to extract respect from common folk. Although there are some true Saiyyads , The first Saiyyad in Sindh married local Sindhi Hindu girls(As per Kitab ul Hind by Al Beruni) thus even the true Saiyyads have local Hindu blood from mother side.
All those with the title of Awans are Arabs: While the first census of India was being carried out in 1870, the british officers find it very difficult to distinguish Awans from Hindu Rajputs as their customs were astonishingly similar to Hindu Rajputs. The current effort on the part of Awans to align with Arabs is for the same purpose as elicited at point 3. Dilip Kumar(Yusuf Khan) the film actor is Awan.
All Arains are also Arabs: Till Jia ul Haq usurped the throne of Pakistan, Arains were comfortable with their Hindu ancestry. They were and are vegetable growers and gardeners. With Jia’s elevation, Arains suddenly became Arab for obvious reasons.
All with the title of Janjua are Arabs: In Suleman mountain, coins of Maldev Janjua has been discovered. This is a matter of Shame for Janjuas rather than pride as they have framed themselves up as Arabs.
All with the title of Wattu are Arabs: They are infact Rajputs but prefer to call themselves as descendant of Arabs but shy away at the proposal of DNA test.
Khokhars: Khokhars call themselves descendents of Arabs but actually they are related to Jats, Hindu Khokhars created havoc in the Army of Mahmud Ghajnavi when Jaipal attacked Ghajni to take it back in around 980-990 AD. Hindu Khokhars killed Shahabuddin Ghori on the right bank of Indus near Attock in 1203 AD. There are still some Hindu Khokhars in India.
All with the title of Khan/ Pathan are actually Pakhtun and all Pakhtuns are Afghans and all Afghans are the lost tribes of Bani Afghana of Israel: The theory was promulgated in the medieval era but is refuted by DNA test. Some Pathan as told in the beginning are recent converts from Rajputs. Afghans have some Tadjik elements also. Pashto is an Indo-Iranic language and is not related to semitic language. According to Farishta, Afghans including Pakhtuns were Hindus and Pagans before their conversion to Islam. Muhammad Ghorí’s great grandfather Shansban was Buddhist. Similarly Tigin Shahis were turks and were Buddhists before converting to Islam.
Khan is the title of adopted by any noble Hindu convert to Islam , some times even barbers also used this title after conversion. However every Khan wants to identify with Pakhtuns.
All Ansaris are those Madinites who helped Muhammad in Madina: Ansaris in the Indian subcontinent are converts from weaver community of Hindus. They took this title as a semblance of respectability. They are still in the job of stitching, weaving and tailoring.
All Quraishis are those Quraishi clan to which Muhammad himself belong to: Qureshis in India are converts from Hindu Butchers or Kasabs. They took this title for the same reason of respectability , It was a clan decision to convert and clan decision to take this title.
However there are Jats , Rajputs, Gurjars , Khatris, Kashmiri Pundits and Ahirs in Pakistan who acknowledge their Hindu Past. They proudly keep their titles as Bajwa, Randhawa, Johia, Tomar, Deol, Rathore, Chauhan, Minhas, Salaria, Salathia, Shan, Rana, Raja, Satti, Bhutto, Lohani, Bhatti, Jadoun, Sumra, Samma, Sasan, Ghil, Maan, Gujjar, Katariya, Khatana, Kapur, Kohli, Sethi, Saigol, Bahal, Kakar, Khatri, Bhat, Rao, Rangher.
Some Pakhtuns’ title like Sarwani, Shahbani, Shahukhel, Kakar,Khosa, Bamzai, Karzai, Sadozai, Barakzai, Mahmand, Suri, Khattak, Afridi, Shermankhel, Mahsud, Lodi have in themselves definite Hindu and even Greek connotations. Greek historians Plini, Strabo and Sanskrit Grammarian Panini has thrown some light on the people living in what is now Khaibar Pakhtunkhwah. Also with little linguistic retrospection above tribes might be previously known as Suryavanshi, Shahvanshi, Shahkul, Kakar, Khosa, Vam, Kar, Sat, Varak or Virk, Mahamand(Or great Mand: Mand was a Shaka tribe), Sri, Shatak, Aparitai (Greek tribe), Srimankul, Mahashudra(Shudra was not a non Aryan tribe, rather Alexendar fought with Kshudraks a warrior tribe, Sud is still the title of Khatris of Punjab who are upper caste), Lydoi(A Greek tribe). Thus we can infer that these tribes originated from Hindu or Greek ancestors even the Yusufzais call themselves as Isap in their own gatherings, this Isap is the same as Aspesians who under their queen Kripi gave brilliant resistance to Macedonians under Alexendar the great in Massaga(some where near Peshawar) sometime in 327BC. Kripi in Greek sources is mentioned as Kleophis.
Kalash kafir people of the Chitral and Hunza still worship Mahadev and Yimraj and follow a primitive Vedic religion. Only 2000 left now as rest are converted by abduction of girls and forcibly conversion of men. They were masters of a province of Kafiristan in north east Afghanistan till 1896.
In brief, some 20% of Pakistanis are estimated to be from Turkish/Afghan/Mughal/Arab origins and rest 80% of purely indigenous. Among these 80% , mostly they were Hindus or a mix of Hindus, Buddhists, Animists and Zoroastrians and Jainism at the same time. Even in the remaining 20% there is substantial proportion of Hindu blood from mother side
      en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lohana
All Sikh gurus were Khatri themselves
Jinnah was vaishnavite lohana with surname thakkar which comes from takkar province of Afghanistan
Alama Iqbal was kashmiri pandit or saraswat Brahmin with surname saproo
Liaquat alis wife was converted Brahmin into Christianity and later into islam
Malik gafur was hindu converted to Islam
Birbal was saraswat Brahmin Mahesh das bhatt

Old Persian and Sanskrit sound very similar(Google, UA-cam both). Persian influence came from the Mughal Courts. Since Persian was the English of the Ruling class in those period.Special Credit Aamir Khusro. Hindi is more sanskritised version of hindvi and Urdu is more persianed. Hindvi itself for 1000’s years was influenced by Sanskrit plus local dialects of the region. I know it’s very complicated. Conclusion- No one is Pure here. It always was evolving

From a linguistic standpoint, The National Anthem does not have a single piece of syntax or grammer that makes it exclusively Persian. Rather, it follows grammer rules/syntax common to both Persian and Urdu. You won't find "Ast", 'Neest", "hastam", "shud" or "mun" in the anthem but you will find words in it that are exclusively found in Urdu.
It's not a huge problem and neither is it a requirement for a respectable piece of poetry to be understandable by the masses.

In the Delhi region of India the native language was Khariboli, whose earliest form is known as Old Hindi (or Hindavi). It belongs to the Western Hindi group of the Central Indo-Aryan languages. The contact of Hindu and Muslim cultures during the period of Islamic conquests in the Indian subcontinent (12th to 16th centuries) led to the development of Hindustani as a product of a composite Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb.
In cities such as Delhi, the ancient language Old Hindi began to acquire many Persian loanwords and continued to be called "Hindi" and later, also "Hindustani".
From the 13th century until the end of the 18th century; the language now known as Urdu was called Hindi, Hindavi, Hindustani,Dehlavi, Dihlawi,Lahori, and Lashkari.

English was imposed on India because the land never had a uniting language. Before that at the start, the invading Aryans brought Sanskrit and used a tool to deprive native people from their land and outcast them, as Shudras. The Aryans invaders never recorded event in chronological order and whatever their motives were, but it kept the masses ( the native people) and todays historians and Indian public in dark about how Sanskrit invaders imposed their language. Urdu ultimately comes from a spoken form of Sanskrit called Prakrit. There were different Prakrits spoken at the time. that were spoken in different regions throughout Northern-India. As these different forms were spoken they diverged into separate languages. Urdu, specifically comes from the Shauresani Prakrit. The Apphabrahmshas were spoken in the latter stage of the middle Indo-Aryan language period up to around the 9th Century. From there on Arabic and Persian also started entering these Middle Indo-Aryan languages and it began developing into Modern Indo-Aryan languages.

In your last podcast you pronounced the Urdu word "pazeerai" incorrectly several times within few minutes. And what is "quwat e uquwat"? You don't even know that it's actually "quwat e ukhuwat e awam." The national anthem is in Urdu, and every word in the national anthem is used in everyday conversation. Instead of getting upset, focus on improving your Urdu. The Urdu language was created by those who spoke and adored Persian, so it's only natural that they tried to make Urdu as similar to Persian as possible. Izafat is widely used in Urdu poetry, far more than in everyday conversation, and the national anthem IS poetry. The anthem is in Urdu, and almost every word of it is used in everyday conversation. I am an Indian. My views
1- first urdu is not from Sanskrit ( actually samskrutam) i dont know but not even in Sanskrit of spoken language. 1-2% of Indian know it. Urdu is primarily the mixture of Hindi and Persian Language. So its no you to present factual evidence to prove urdu is Sanskrit drived language. Instead you can say many word are taken from hindi which have lot of Sanskrit word. Aad urdu does not with out Persian word in it. from galab to iqbal every poet of subcontinent uses urdu which has so much of Persian words. Well if you remove the Persian word from urdu it becomes hindi. As for antham i do agree it is persian word.
Quwat e aquwat means strength of brotherhood. Persian word build urdu beautiful. Even indian hindu loves Persian urdu. And claim its orgin back to india.
As far as other language is concern we should respect all languages and cultures.
Bro aalishan is urdu word it does origanates from persian.
    2. Sindhi and Persian are all equal language. But Persian is more Islamic oriented cultural language. Language is the door to the civilizational ideas. If you make Sindhi and forget urdu, you will loose your past and cultural. In every nation civilizational language is considered superior to others. In India Sanskrit is considered with other language because it's a language of an ancient civilization. Which has an ancient culture embedded in it. That's why people could have the view that preserve your culture through learning Urdu. But degrading any other language is not acceptable at all. That's my point.
Nobody says bulleh Shah is not from our culture.
And who says the Mughal Empire is not from our history. Mughal previously was afghans but came to to India an in integrated with the society. Even Mughal is our history. Why do you think Mughal is not our history. Bulleh Shah is also are history.
Sorry man as an Indian I feel really hard to understand your argument. I never thought in my life that any language is inferior superior. But I do considered the language which belongs to the native culture should be considered higher. Persian initially was not the language of India. But Urdu is don't say that Urdu is someone else's language it originated and form in subcontinent. Many poetries is in Urdu. And don't disgrace any language. Bangla Sindhi Punjabi balochi language. Every languages are equal. But it is the civilization impact that mix language different. Sanskrit what's the language of the subcontinent 4000 years back in the vedic period.
I don't understand where these things are coming from but I think you are addressing Pakistani I don't know what's going on in Pakistan right now. I saw your video on transformation of Pakistan. And I like and admire your ideas on it.
Parcham o sitar e hialal urdu hi hai koi isse btao. Urdu ki kitaben padi hai. Spoken language changes in every 50 years.. is the standard written language which is considered original language.

Hello, you are right in drawing attention to this linguistic point. However, Urdu is not directly related to Sanskrit so much as to Hindi (or what was called 'khadi boli') because a language is not determined by its vocabulary but by its grammar. All Urdu grammar is directly that of modern urban Hindi spoken between Delhi and Lucknow.
Another fact is the the Indian national anthem is also written in unintelligible Sanskritised Bangla by Rabindranath Tagore.

For example National anthem of India contains names of regions which are not used nowdays for those regions, these things are bound to happen but solution is to teach younger generations about the contexts and meanings, and not necessarily argue for changing the anthems. After all, In South Asia we value traditions and traditions can't be called obsolete in any context.

Mongols, Afghan, Iranian, as well as Turks all used the Arabic dialect. Muslims ruled India for eight hundred years. Now just listen to yourself and just note the use of English in your speech in only one sentence. This the influence of just two hundred some years of British rule. It would be easier to recite it in school and make it compulsory for students to learn the meaning as well then try to associate ourselves with sunskrit.

I think it’s not unique of us to have a national anthem that is in another language or in a formal form.
Several countries have national anthems that are either in a different language from what is commonly spoken today or use formalized, archaic language that may not be easily understood by the general population. Here are a few examples:
    New Zealand
The anthem is bilingual, with verses in both English and Māori. While Māori is one of New Zealand's official languages, English is more widely spoken, and not all New Zealanders are fluent in Māori.
    Wales
The anthem is in Welsh, which is a minority language in Wales, although it is widely taught and understood. English is the dominant language in Wales, so many Welsh people might not fully understand the anthem without prior knowledge of Welsh.
    India
The anthem is in Bengali-Sanskrit, a form of highly Sanskritized Bengali, which uses formal and literary expressions that may be unfamiliar to speakers of modern Indian languages, including Bengali.
    Japan
The anthem uses classical Japanese, which includes archaic words and expressions that are not used in everyday modern Japanese. The formal and poetic nature of the language can make it difficult for some Japanese speakers to fully understand
    South Africa
The anthem has verses in five different languages (Xhosa, Zulu, Sesotho, Afrikaans, and English). While these languages are spoken in South Africa, not everyone is fluent in all of them, which can make parts of the anthem difficult for some citizens to understand.
    7. Finland
    • Anthem: Maamme (Our Land)
    • Language: The anthem has both Finnish and Swedish versions. Swedish is a minority language in Finland, so many Finnish speakers might not understand the Swedish version.
    8. United Kingdom
    • Anthem: God Save the King/Queen
    • Language: While the anthem is in English, it uses very formal and archaic language, such as “thy,” “thee,” and “vex,” which are not commonly used in contemporary English.
    9. Iceland
    • Anthem: Lofsöngur (The Song of Praise)
    • Language: The anthem is in Icelandic but uses a highly formal and archaic style of language that might be challenging for modern Icelanders to fully understand.
Persian was considered a posh language among Urdu speakers of the time who wrote the national anthem and being just across the border the Persians did have a lot of influence and connection to the Indian sub continent so it’s nothing strange that we have Persian words in our anthem. Pakistan is a mix of many nationalities and ethnicities and we can’t just brush everyone as being Indian origin because we are not. The opposite is also not true, of course majority of people here I’ve Indian roots and they should embrace that and not get stuck in an identity crisis.
