Hi Andy, So pleased you're back in the workshop and looking much happier. The peg method is such an old joint in woodwork, lots of gates are are made using it. The hole in the upright is slightly offset to the one in the rail so that the peg pulls the mortise and tenon joint together when knocked in. I found your video most enjoyable. Take care Paul

Hi , I am really taking it easy. I have had questions about this topic, so I thought I would show how I do it as I had two sticks needing peg fixing..Will need to see a surgeon shortly to repair some damage. Just trying to be positive at the moment. Thanks for watching and commenting. Andy.

Gosh, I haven’t used a spade bit for years. Modern spiral bits are far easier and more efficient
