    Hi Steveo,
    This video brought back many memories for me. I retired from the FAA as
    an Air Traffic Controller with CHA as my last duty station. It was great to see
    the control tower I used to work in viewed from the Wilson ramp. It was also
    great to hear the ATC communications. I really miss that.
    Be safe flying the Kodiac.

    Love your videos Steveo. My late parents lived in Hollybrook just west of Ft. Lauderdale exec. I grew up in that area and go back once in a while. Not a pilot but always loved airplanes and flying (as a right seat with friends). The time and money was never right to take lessons, but oh well. Be safe and keep them coming!

    That MFD has an incredible refresh rate!!! I was watching it while you were landing, and it gave a real time display of what the a/c was doing. It looked like a video game display!!! In a pinch, you could land the a/c using just that display. I remember my old Garmin handhelds refresh rate was approx. once every 5 seconds, perfect for enroute, but useless for landing. That display was refreshing multiple times a second, very useful :-) Thanks for taking us along :-)

    I've been following the Kodiak since before it's early test flights....it was originally designed for back woods short field missionary aviation work. I actually was blessed to be able to take about a 10-15 minute flight around Knoxville from KDKX in the Kodiak. My now late wife BJ was in the Hospital dealing with liver failure at the time, and we fly right by the Hospital and was able to pray for her from the air. I didn't have the money for the flight, but a military chopper pilot offered to pay my way....and of course, I greatfully accepted. What a thrill!!

    Hey Steve. Great video, and congrats on the new job. I'm really glad to hear the FAA issue is resolved and closed. We definitely have to be carful what we put on UA-cam with our flying, even more so with the part 135 operations. It will definitely be something I keep in mind someday soon when I'm doing that kind of work.

    • @CriticalAngle
      @CriticalAngle 6 років тому +1

      Aa A it was related to Part 135 rules in regards to a sterile cockpit environment under 10,000 ft when he was flying the Caravan. Kind of ridiculous though since most of the stuff Steve says is something that everyone would say to a co-pilot or just out loud as they're doing it and related to the flight.

    • @hempelcx
      @hempelcx 6 років тому +1

      It doesn't necessarily matter if you have passengers. If the flight is operated under Part 135, then Part 135 rules have to be observed. Company rules may prohibit Part 91 flights and Part 135-only could also be required by the insurance policy. Finally, flying cargo also triggers the Part 135 requirement, so you don't necessarily have to have passengers on board for the FAA to consider it an air carrier operation. While it's true that an aircraft on a Part 119 certificate can be flown under Part 91 rules when circumstances permit, it's a bit of a sticky wicket that I imagine some operators prefer not to mess with.

    Like everyone else, I am delighted to see you back! I am a little hesitant to say this, because your videos are so good but it seemed the structure of the windshield frame obstructed the camera's field of view; it was the noticeable when you were on final. I hope the plane's interior gives you to experiment. I love the Kodiak, and I look forward to you "showing us around" in upcoming installments.
