- After catching it in Trinidad, I raced Two-And-A-Hour-Late-Amtrak to Delhi. Obviously, no changes have happened since I was here this morning, other than the speed restriction gone.
UPDATE - The wigwag was retired on 03-09-21.
Location: County Rd. 88 (Delhi, CO)
Train: Amtrak Southwest Chief (Train No. 4)
Lone signal: Magnetic Flagman Upper Quadrant Wigwag on a US&S relay case.
Railroad: BNSF Raton Subdivision

There is something so magical to be at a railroad crossing at night with a passing train and the signals all lit up like a Christmas tree. It was even more special at night when it was a Wig-Wag. I drove by this one at times in recent years when I was driving on nearby Hwy. 350. Too bad that I was in such a rush that I did not stop for a couple of minutes to just gaze at this part of Railroad Americana that is now gone. 😔
Great capture! Sorry the wig-wag is gone but glad it made it to the Colorado Railroad Museum
Thanks!
This looks so cool at nighttime! Reminds me of someone waving a stop signal so cars don't pass. A shame that this vintage beauty was replaced with modern-day signals...
Reminds me of that one scene from cars
Longmont Railway Yeah.

I always want to see those
Same

Guess what this reminds me of?: Lightning McQueen, lost on the Interstate trying to find Mack, he races off the highway he thinks its him, but when the truck crosses the tracks, that very signal went off, McQueen sees it looks to his left - an oncoming train approaches and McQueen barely makes it to other side...unscathed.
When I think back to when there was an actual human being that stood at the crossing with a lantern, this was actually better than the guy with the lantern.
Now, with PTC, the government should mandate all vehicles be programmed to receive the PTC channels and make it impossible for the car to approach or drive through a crossing when the train is approaching.
Middle of the night middle of nowhere on a dirt road that sees no traffic when the train's about to come and you're trying to get the shot the place becomes Grand Central
Has happened to me so many times over my life time
Wow! Very cool. First time I've ever seen one of these at night.
Thanks!
@@PlyingKibbles89 You’re welcome!
Great video, but I am saddened that the Delhi, CO wigwag has been removed.
Thanks! Me too.
It’s at the Colorado Railroad Museum now.
AND...Thank You for capturing and sharing this image of that railroad wig wag !!!
Legend has it that on its grave a red orb appears in the night as a train approaches
Absolutely awesome! I subscribed!
Thanks!
It looks cool at the night tho with the wig wag railroad crossing signal✌️👍
Great night catcn and wig wag crossing and excellent video
Thanks!
R.I.P Wigwag 1940-2021
It’s actually in a museum now!
@@FaFromCastle Cool!!!!
That signal is not gone. It is relocated to The Colorado Railroad museum. The way people are these days it would have just been a matter of time before someone vandalized it or stole it.
I know. I’ve filmed it at the museum.
March 9, 2021: The wig wag crossing has since been removed
I know. I forgot to update the description of this video.
What type of train is that? Is that a double decker commuter train?
Amtrak’s Southwest Chief
Signal ligth Dancing in the night
Whys this kind of scary lol
Looked up Delhi and it said "Delhi is an unincorporated community in Las Animas County, Colorado."
Exactly what is it, now a single house

Was the train amtrak? Btw Cool video!
Read the description, and you’ll find out.
What where you suprised about?
I was surprised that I beat Amtrak to the crossing.
What Are Wig-Wags?
@@PlyingKibbles89 Bruh moment?😕
Prince Akpan Yeah. How do you not know what a Wig-Wag is if you are into railfanning?
@@PlyingKibbles89 I Have No Idea.😞
@@PlyingKibbles89 Well, to be fair, Akpan could be a newbie to railfanning, and probably is. There's probably some terms I don't know, either.
PlyingKibbles89 he could be new. Maybe be more polite. I could critique the talking at the beginning of the video but I choose not to. You didn’t have to say anything to that person either. Just be kind!
