Unfortunately, it has been confirmed that by the end of February 2021, this signal will be taken down and replaced with modern signals. A new relay case and crossing bases are in place and they are almost ready to put in the new signals take out the old signal. It was definitely an amazing wig wag while it was still standing, I will miss it.

That's too bad... of course, seeing how fast the trains go on that line, I guess it was inevitable they'd replace the wig-wag with crossing gates at some point.

Dwarfed and outgrown by a world that moved on and forgot.
And yet, in the only way it can, it still tries to keep the grand children of those who built it safe.
    "Hello, everyone. Please be mindful."
Seeing that gargantuan freight go rushing through the emptiness, eager only to get back to population-- the tiny little signal just going courageously on with the only work it's ever known, like a grandfatherly old robot.
It's both inspiring and heartbreaking, all at once.

the first 12 miles on the Redding Mountain line are in active with the other miles be abandoned. The old locomotives that would run by the yard by a lake were taken by train after the years of them being in used 1998-2016. and when the locomotives were taken to a shop. They were restored and put on a new tour railroad that doesn’t run by the lake in the mountains of Redding. Instead. They were taken to a brand new railroad that runs by a beach far away from Redding. Some railroad crossing were removed as well as a dock by the lake. And there is other most abandoned crossings that u can still see.

GREAT catches and thanks for sharing! LOVE this VERY interesting Wig-Wag and sad to see it go but that was expected. Looks like there was only ONE on one side of the crossing? LOVE all the VERY fast Amtraks! Just amazing that just those two engines can pull and push all that weight in the last clip of the wind turbines. Watch out for rattlesnakes out there while filming!
