Troy schools named the best in the state and top ten in the nation.
Rochester/Rochester Hills to Detroit is very commutable, even with I75 construction. It has a really unique vibe, the parks and trails are amazing and house prices are varied. I’ve lived in several areas, Farmington, Clinton Twp., Birmingham and Rochester Hills, they are all unique and you are right, definitely visit and hang out, before buying.

If working downtown is the Rochester area a realistic and not-bad commute?
Depending where you are in Rochester/Rochester Hills, from experience… 30-40 min in the morning and 45 min - 1 hr in the afternoon depending on traffic, weather, and construction. Weekends are usually lighter traffic.
@@dane4111 yeah, wouldn't be terrible. Just depends on the time etc. Also depends on what you consider "bad".
Oakland County is the economic driver of the State of Michigan.
Lived in south Lyon my whole life and went to school in Novi, and I recently re-located to Switzerland, but before I moved to Switzerland, it seemed every day they were building a new neighborhood in south Lyon . Hahaha
How's life in Switzerland?? You're right! They ARE always building in South Lyon - it'll be weird when it's ALL homes and no farmland.
@@PaulWolfert Switzerland is nice, but it’s super ironic how you talked about Michigan being a state where you are driving a lot, but now in Switzerland, there are busses and trains that take you everywhere in the country hahaha.
I live in Clawson right now. Very underrated suburb

Moved here from Europe and couldn’t understand why we had to buy our old condo while we could buy a very decent house somewhere in canton for the same money. After a year here and a lot of drive around , I’m so happy our realtor persuaded us to move into Northville. Next house will be only here ( that is if we can afford it)

I live in shelby twp. I love it we have a huge home. I grew up in Detroit saw how it went down hill. I don't need to go downtown. We are afraid of getting shot at on the freeway like are friends did but they never put that on the news like a lot of crime that happens or nobody from the suburbs would go to detroit.
I might be missing an existing video, but it would be great if you could do one all about the downriver area.
Thank you for the suggestion! I'll definitely consider making a video about the downriver area. When I started the channel the focus was on areas that I knew a lot about where I could help people move to and from. Now that it's grown, I've found agents that I trust to help in other zones and downriver is in the works :)

How come you never bring up Warren when talking about all the burbs? Its one the largest town around Detroit.

Hows the area around Wayne State? Midtown? I saw some low rise apartments that didn't look too bad.

The "East Side" does not exist in Oakland County. At all. In Wayne County the East Side is east of Woodward, including "The Pointes", and north of 8 Mile the East Side is Macomb County. Don't really know what that part of Oakland County is but it's different from living on the East Side.
🤷♂️ people in Northville, Novi, Farmington Hills etc absolutely refer to Troy, Rochester, Rochester Hills as the "East Side"
I don't doubt it. But they aren't the authority on what is the East Side. I was born in Mt. Clemens, lived in Roseville, Warren, Troy, Eastpointe, Grosse Pointe Woods, Dearborn, Southfield, and Beverly Hills. Troy is more of a suburb of Birmingham/Bloomfield Hills than of anything else, and those are definitely not the East Side. Maybe there needs to be a "North Side"?
It's just as nice. We have big homes 7 or 800,000.00 homes to in the millions in a lot of area. Maybe we have a lot of contractors who live in macomb County but they makes as much or more then Dr's. Or lawyers. Washington township has gated mansions. So what if you can't hop on a freeway to go to murder city.

Stay away from river rouge
Whats wrong with River Rouge? I have 2 rentals in River Rouge and zero problems.
Avoid anything from downriver area to Saginaw and 60 miles wide.
Exactly. All of downriver is the worst! I lived there in my younger years and it was as trashy as they come. If you don’t have kids, then maybe good starting place. Get out of there as soon as you can afford it though.
Novi, canton, northville see lot's of crime coming from detroit .
