Pls pls pls buy your own skates. U won’t regret it. I’m 50+, and have been skating for only 3 months. I skated in a beginner class with my wife and 2 children. Within a month, we ALL had our own skates. My wife got the Moxi Skates, and me and the kiddos got the basic black high tops by Riedell. As a matter of fact, my pair was my Christmas gift.
This super long post is basically telling u that your confidence level will be elevated on your own skates, and (in my opinion) u will look super cool in your own skates 😁

Your greatest tip: Head turns shoulders, shoulder turn hips, hip turns foot 😂😂the rest just happens. I also DJ and work with the skaters sometimes, bad part is that I play all the songs that make me want to skate while I am on the turntables.
    Great Job

EDGES are the foundation of skating properly! Ok … when you skate backward, make sure you are really understanding that you need to "rock" your weight side to side in order to go backward. Look straight ahead, hips low, arms to the side and count. Get a bit of rhythm going.

YEA!!! The one I really REALLY needed. LOL Getting backwards...no problem! Turning around...yep, not so great. I just stop and "walk around" to turn. Seeing as I can get myself to go backwards, I didn't think it would be so hard. :( LOL Though I am getting better at my jump turns (forward to back AND back to forward.) :)
Finally got to the end of the video...and actually snorted! LOL HUGE sign at my rink "Toe stops or Jam Plugs MUST be worn at all times. All skates will be checked!" Great...but..what about those who actually run a NTS plate???? Umm......guess they're not welcome where I skate. :(

@@Ricky-tu9qn My daughter only uses plugs because she has to. She can skate without 'em, but as her plates do allow for a stop, of course, she has to have "something" in there. I don't think my rink has ever had anyone who ran a NTS plate, though...I mean, I honestly don't even know if the people who own/operate the local rinks know they make "stop-less" plates! LOL If I were SLIGHTLY better, I'd SO get a pair just to mount to one of my shoes to see their faces when I walked in. :)

P.S. However, even though the sign says they'll check all skates...they NEVER inspect ours. LOL (If you're going to ban something, you should probably check to make sure people are following those rules!)
They also say no pictures or video of the skating surface....the GUARDS are pretty good about stopping people, but management, not as much. :(

This really helped me skate backwards. I actually skated backwards Sunday, March 12. Thanks for the best instructions ever!!❤
