  • #49 Woodland Mills Sawmill Blade Tracking Demonstration
In this video I try my best to explain blade tracking on the woodland mills hm126 portable sawmill.
I attempt a demonstration where I intentionally throw my tracking out of alignment so that I can show what it looks like and also show myself getting the tracking back into alignment.
I share as many tips as possible with my knowledge and skill set, including the roll that your blade guides play and how they can hinder your tracking if you are not careful, and also some other helpful tips that I have picked up along the way that I am happy to share.
Hopefully if you are new to saw milling or new to the woodland mills community this video will be of some value to show you how the tracking works on this particular saw mill.
    As Always
    Thanks For Watching
    Chris

thanks for posting Chris, very information videos about woodland saw mills.
I've been using my Max 130 for the past couple of months (16 footer on trailer). lots of growing pains / learning!! FYI - I needed to adjust my band will alignment - and the follower side was fine. I actually adjusted it - with no success. I needed to adjust the drive side. My mill didn't have that "don't touch sticker", and tech support said it was ok to adjust just the drive side. Very time consuning going back and forth - and I found out I needed to change my drive belts. I was too timid to change the blade (and frugal) after hitting the log stop a couple of times ....which slows down cutting and puts pressure / wear on everything else. I also needed to tighten the drive belt tensioner (6 mm or 1/4 inch deflection). It's a pain to learn it - but hopefully future adjustments are more efficient.

Just put together a hm130 max the saw blade sticks out the back of the cast iron wheels about 1/8 of an inch on both sides. Should I leave it alone? Or try and adjust the follower side to get the blade flush with the back of the wheels?

May I ask what way do the pulleys face when assembling? What side faces outward from the mill head? Also a washer, spacer, pulley, washer, locking nut? Any help appreciated? Have a blessed day!

I can't remember what/if there is a front/back to the pulleys. But you should have some spacers that are thicker than washers. Starting against the mill it goes 12mm spacer, pulley, 5mm spacer, pulley washer, then lock nut.(Assuming its the pulleys for the lift mechanism, and if you have the hm126 and not sure if all models are the same) Sorry I couldn't be more help I will be back at the mill this weekend I will look at those pulleys to remind myself of the front/back part if your still having trouble.

Hey I got a new mill and it’s my first blade change, and their is no way I can get my blade to track with just adjusting the idler I can get the blade to track on the idler but within a half turn the blade goes in 1/8 “ on the drive wheel. I’ve watched idk how many videos and tried everyone’s way and still but I did not touch the drive adjustment because I shouldn’t have too

Hey Brian, does it just keep moving back or does it stop at the 1/8 inch back if you keep turning the bandwheel? I know that its ok if the back of the blade sits a little behind the back of the bandwheel. Sometimes it takes a turn or two for the blade to find the line it wants to ride on. But obviously if it keeps moving in one direction somethings off. I know it can be a finicky thing, probably the best thing to do would be to call woodland mills they seem to have some good people that will help with any issues.

@@ChrisBrackenridge hey it kept goin back I ran a strait edge on the drive wheel it was out a couple mm, I ended up adjusting the drive wheel a quarter turn to move the blade out and now it’s perfect, thanks
