maaaaan these 911s were soooo sick back in the 80s. imagine a world where a little car that looks more like a vw beetle than a sportscar, can outrun ferraris and lambos with ease.
I know it's not the subject of the video but I think you undersold the 959 a bit, it wasn't just a Group B homologation Porsche, it really was the pinnacle of 80's car tech, leagues beyond what anyone else was doing at the time, and the outright fastest street legal factory production car in the world for a good while until cars like the XJ220 and F1 appeared in the 90's. Even today, almost 40 years later, the regular 959 is still one of the fastest cars in existence at 197/198 mph top speed, and the small handful of factory big turbo 959 S models with their 211 mph top speed are still hanging onto a spot on the list of the fastest street legal cars ever built.

I was very Blessed to have gotten the opportunity to experience the Wonderful 1980’s and work on these Classic Air cooled 1980’s 911’s (straight out of High School) at 17 years old. My favorite was a particular Classic Black Cabriolet at the time. 👍The Movie “No Man’s Land” had JUST come out.
My 6th grade teacher had a white 964 Carrera that looked almost like a 930 Turbo. Black Fuchs wheels, the black markings on the side, the whale tail... He barely ever drove it and his son told me it wasn't in good shape. He sold it before I could ask him to take me for a ride. I was very sad about that, and I'm certain he regrets it too.
I was in Prison and Juvenile homes with Sydney's real Turbo Kid in the 80s who was Scotty Simpson. The others you mention in Sydney calling themselves Porsche Kids were not really a thing, his name was Turbo Kid and everyone in the 80s knew Scott Simpson as that person. Last time I saw Scott was in Sydney's Long Bay MRC metropolitan remand centre where he was in a yard waiting to go to court on unrelated charges with plaster on his arm. From what I know Scott has since passed away and if alive today would have been in his mid 50s. Anyone who was anyone in the 80s as I was and spent many years in boys home & the prison system knew Scotty as folk law Turbo Kid. I became a success in real estate, these boys all went down hill perusing dreams of being criminals. I realised though it took many years, there is no honour among thieves and having morals, got out of the whole scene.
