So very happy that there are gentlemen like Harry (however few there are) who has property and the where withal to enjoy an appetite for internal combustion :) Most importantly for those of us who aren't in Harry's position, he shares it with us on UA-cam as an enthusiast and not as an elitist. Thank you Harry :)

I just love these modded Defenders, and with the jacked up suspension you could get at least 5 traffic wardens underneath. Epic!

The only problem is if you try and run a traffic warden over he could just duck.

Absolutely magnificent vehicle, wonderfully presented by somebody who knows his subject matter and also in an environment to demonstrate it capabilities. There are so few of these but I think you'll agree the right man (Harry) got to to own one of these. Slightly envious, and would love to be a passenger.

& those light switches at 10:10 are used for lights that would go on when hunting kangaroo at night in Australia, hence the kangaroo symbols. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I swear it's true. Loving the episode!

I can't really recognize the mysterious "event" by looking at the car, but I've spotted that Harry is wearing a Nato-strap on his watch which was also worn by Sean Connery in Goldfinger... ;-) Back in the days on a Rolex Sub (I think in his books Ian Flaming let Bond wear an Rolex Explorer - or something that was desribed as looking like an Explorer). But that was before James Bond has become a brand ambassador. Speaking of which, Harry might be wearing a Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial "Spectre" Limited Edition.

    Dear mr. Metcalfe,
I am a fan so don't get me wrong, but why do you invest tons of money in cars and cheap out on your sound? A simple lavalier microphone with a dead cat of even an old sock to block the windnoise would make your wonderful videos way more enjoyable.

I was a bit surprised at the bits that were already showing rust!
Never owned a Defender myself but I've driven a friend's 110 with a very turbocharged Isuzu 4BD1. *Preposterous* torque. We towed one of my cars with it (~1400kg including the trailer) and the only differences we noticed were braking (of course) and 100C higher on the EGT gauge. It still accelerated pretty hard

Welcome 008, to the world of aftermarket suspension modding! Bowlerized Landys are excellent, no doubt. I know someone here in Canada who runs a very similar setup. More common here, obviously, is the Jeep Wrangler, latest edition is the 'JK', and the four-door is my favourite snow vehicle - with 10k worth of suspension bits tacked on of course and 36'-40' tires. V8 swaps are still the franken-choice but Cummins has a new 4 cycl diesel crate engine packaged in mind of the Jeepsters so it should start making a dent - at least here above the 49th parallel if not the Mason-Dixon line where evolution has hit a snag or two these last decades. 40' tires ridiculous? Depends completely on the size of the rocks one plan's on driving over, doesn't it? Thnx for the great videos; I have spent the last 4 yrs-plus convalescing back in Canada and as a result my maps are marked up w/ hundreds of intended routes and stops - many from small details in your videos taken in France (even Algeria) - all for my impending and triumphal, if tardy, return to Europe. Like the last time it's planned to be a permanent move but will stick because niggles like mortality won't be considered deal killers this time around. While I plan to explore the continent's pleasures and treasures for the rest of my days, I thank you for assisting to make getting there almost bearable in the meantime. For some odd reason here's nothing quite like watching someone hand their 12 cyl. ferrari a well-cultured beating to make your morning. Strange but true. 'till next...

Metcalfe now owns and farms a 400 acre Cotswold farm near Shilton, Oxfordshire.[6] It is termed a mixed farm, mainly arable with wheat being the main crop. Metcalfe rents out the 80 acres of grassland - 70 of which is organic - to a livestock farmer, who farms Sussex cattle, sheep and alpacas. The farm also has 10 acres of wild bird mix and over 3 miles of stone walls to maintain.[7]

Harry, could you do a film on the new Jaguar XKSS,the ones I've seen have been a bit lacking,it's such an amazing project I guess it will sell itself, which is just as well as the introduction film was a bit twee, and it would have been nice to see the folks who built it,and someone conveying it that really knows his or her stuff, I knew more about old jags at seventeen,or the history atleast. and now they've used up the nine continuation no.s Can you ask Jaguar to go in to full production so we can all have one, certain concessions to modernity allowed but no sensors! Cheers that'd be great. Failing all that, these films you do are excellent and perhaps a review on a T16 road car. Would be splendid, on a return journey up north years ago to buy a Yamaha RS 125,I called at a chip shop the young owner had a t16 but aspired to a Porsche turbo I wonder if he ever got it? Crackin looking hot hatch though that Peugeot.

Why is it everyone who shows an interest in cars some idiot has to ask on every video why they don't apply for top gear?? Is top gear the only place on earth people can go to work who enjoy cars or something?

Plus I'm guessing he comes from old money with all that land and the vehicles and what have you. He probably does this more for the fun of it then to make money. I know I do my stuff more for fun too

Cool video. Those suspension tops that cause the rattle for being metal against metal, will that not wear out with time?

enjoy your watching your videos harry. lovely selection of vehicles you have - quite fancy doing a video on my 90 XJ6 as always quite liked motoring journalism and boring people to death with my love of motors. Keep it up.
