So nice that you haven’t succumbed to only doing new press car reviews as so many others have. Keep it up 👍
Nope got to keep the variety!
We're not blind. We know all the flaws. Own one for any length of time and you become intimitaley aware of them as you gradually fix them. It's potentially a never ending project. But here's the thing. It's iconic, it has character and when I have to spend money on it I can just shrug it off. Infinitely modifiable and I just couldn't see myself investing the time and effort I would gladly expend on my defender on any other vehicle. I know it doesn't make sense but it makes me happy. Here's the thing though. Even my two year old gets it. He doesn't care about any other cars but "big brummy" has captured his imagination. Wee man just likes sitting in it. It's also really accessible if you like working on cars. A modest toolkit and you'll do well.
Glad a Land rover based (sort of) product made you laugh! From a Bowler & Land Rover fan you're a lucky duck to have sampled these, nice one!
this year, and we're only just in February, is proof if any were needed why Jay's is one of the top tier motoring channels on the whole of The Tube.
The sheer variety and depth of vehicles featured on this channel is like nothing else out there and they're all impartially and honestly reviewed, and brilliantly filmed.
Land Rovers are not my thing at all, but I can appreciate the video as a piece of the great online automotive archive.
My thoughts exactly, well said.
Dropped just in time! Im literally just about to start my lunch break after a hectic morning at hospital outpatients in lancashire. Forget actual food...this is just what i needed for a break and recharge before i start my second shift!
Salute u JayEmm. Keep up the good and hard work ur doing.
P.s cant wait for the 1 video a day throughtout feb.
Try to get some detailing content if you can pls
I applaud you for your service in these troubling times sir 👍
This just proves jayemms job IS essential. Keep up the good work inam 👍🏻
And I have a feeling more detailing is coming. In the meantime subscribe to my channel we have jays cars on there as and when we do them
@@thedetailingdoctor5746 will do 👍
This is a great episode man. Nice change of pace, not that I don't like your regular reviews, it's just different, and great. Gold star!
I appreciate these regular uploads. They really make lockdown a lot more enjoyable
Great to see Bowler has made it to the channel and rather have a Bowler instead of a new Defender.
Ever since I saw Hamster drive the Dakar Wildcat, I have wanted one soooo bad. It's one of my dream cars. I live in Alaska, so I got plenty of land to conquer!
I don't even know if I could get one over here...
Pretty cheap for what you get, too. You can pick up a Wildcat 200 or a Nemesis for under £50,000.
I'm guessing they won't be calling the electric version the "eBowler"?
Hi, Graham! I love that; wish I'd thought of it! We need more virus jokes in these parlous times... :-)
Love the variety on this channel, in my top #3 with Harry's Garage and Carfection👍👍👍
Harry has a Spectre defender too
The sound from the engine and exhaust overrun is sublime! Great video as always 👌🏼
Love your enthusiasm for a Landrover, I mean a Bowler!!
The noise from that V8 was just fantastic.
The one thing missing from this video was the off road bit. I think you change your mind about the defender taking it off road. Yes you'd never want one as a daily but there's a lot of fun for a petrol head when taking them into the mud!!
Give it a go, it might change your mind.
I LOVE Bowlers! Absolutely insane motors that seem to go as fast offroad that a lot of high performance do on it! Brutal rough and rugged vehicles that look like they'd handle a zombie apocolypse without breaking a sweat haha!
So James is basically a 10-years-old trapped in a 30-something body then.
Aren't we all...
The Land Rover Defender is an iconic 4x4 vehicle built for where it is meant to be, so speed and comfort are not important. This does not alter the fact that it is a very entertaining video!
when you like the vid before it ends! quality channel!
This is the coolest car ever
Cracking video mate 🔥 nice to see you having fun and not the usual informative for a change. (Nothing wrong with the usual) just good for the viewers to see a bit of you.
Love that V8 P1
Nice one JayEmm, looks like you had a great time which is what life is all about. Keep 'em coming!
Couldn't've clicked faster as soon as I saw "Bowler"!
Tweed overcoat and a pair of Piloti Avenues in British Racing Green. Jay Emm 's going full Brit for this Bowler bonanza lol
Can’t wait for the Bowler “Driving God” Edition
You can keep your Sennas and pista this and that.....this is what cars should do to you- laugh manically whilst making he-man references XD
I used to work for Qt services who bought the manufacturing rights to the wildcat. Really fun job building those monsters.
Nice to see they still got the wobbly doors when driving least some quirks still remain
Spectre has a ladder chassis, beam axles and 37" tyres, so it rides like a plank. The P1 has a space frame (super stiff) independant suspension (RR based) and sensible sized tyres, so no wonder it drives a lot better!
Yes a proper off roader. Not just some crossover.
The early Bowler 88's are awesome and look fantastic.
Unreliable isn't the same as needs a lot of attention. That said, I agree with your other points! Terribly bus like to drive and we're talking a bus from the 50s! They're just awesome and infinitely versatile cars, miss mine.
P.s. the smile on your face when you started that v8 😂
This was a fucking great video..I was particularly keen on both the Skeletor and Surrey references. I also partially learned to drive in a J reg LR 90 on the fens of Norfolk, that was terrifying and mostly useless!
Rusted out body, air gushing from the holes in to the cabin and no instrument cluster from the factory. True British icon of a car!
Wouldn't mind the P2 on my drive👍
In depth review = booting it! 👍 Loved this.
Great video, never seen you so happy whilst driving!
Seems like you know very little about Landies, I have had 4 Landies dragging 3 ton mini excavators around the Derbyshire hills, towing JCB 3C´s to start them, travelling to Scandinavia twice and numerous other excusions without any problem at all. JUsy how many have you owned?
Absolutely none. And I'm going to keep it that way. They're awful.
@@JayEmmOnCars
They're really not awful but for what you want a car to do they are. My landie towed and pulled things, moved serious amounts of weight from an engineering company and allowed me to get home safely in a blizzard and to also climb onto snowy areas with ease.
Far from awful. Horses for courses.
What a great item thanks
Great video, but why oh why didn't you shout "I AM A DRIVING GOD!!" whilst in the P1?
I wouldn't of been able to stop myself...
The only thing missing is the associated Bowler hat. That P1 would then look like something full scale from Rocket League, and that I can get behind, it's just a shame my wallet tells me otherwise.
Great work Jay looks like you a blast!!!! Like kid in sweet shop
In this episode you get to watch JayEmm play for 20 minutes in rather nice powerful machines lol I think you were enjoying all this way too much !! I wonder what you recently bought hmmmmm, I'm thinking it go faster than my 2001 MINI haha.
I absolutely love when you take a dive into the weird and wild, great video! x
Its because they are LR Defenders, that people can do this sort of customising and don't forget, they are an off-road vehicle that can also be used on the roads ..... not the other way round , so they preform accordingly.
I have had 5 defenders and not one of them have been,or are unreliable to be honest.
You should buy one before you bag one !!
A car I have always hankered after. Pretty much leave anything away from the lights. Nice non-descript primer grey and sh*t eating grin. Mixed emotions about Jag ownership bearing in mind how much they wanted for the run-out Defender that had been slightly dressed and breathed on.
Personally I love all Land Rover defenders
Also, can we get some 'respectable, respectable, FULL HOOLIGAN!' merch please?
Ah the land rover defender. The only vehicle I've ever driven that has more room for buttons and levers than the occupants. Only thing I've ever driven that I had to open the window for my shoulder.
That's some odd shaped shoulder you have.
Real life Tonka Toy ❤️🥰👍🏼
Great item god sir can't wait for the next video
I AM A DRIVING GOD!!!
I see that epic shirt hiding under the coat
Harry Metcalf had a film version of the Spectre Landy but he sold (for good money) to a guy fm who's put on a rock up the top of the mountain where the Health Spa is. You probably already know this though #JayEm!!!! 😁😁😁
Love a Bowler, not sure being owned now by JLR is an entirely good thing, but at least the name will go on.
Yeah won’t exactly do much for build quality.
@@Jabber-ig3iw
Oh god, still peddling that one?
All of what he saId at the start was true... that’s why we love them
Yep typical land Rover rusting all ready what a beast though
The exposed chassis part looks like Meccano parts
Oooooo bowler wildcat for me
Was you in Bury st edmunds last week think I saw you
Unreliable is unfair. If people (mostly farmers) treated there Navaras and Rangers etc as badly as they do there Defenders, they would be unreliable too.
Farming landies get beaten on so badly and yet just take it!
They need constant tinkering and attention but that's not the same as being unreliable. Unreliable in my book means stranded somewhere.
Are Bowlers called Duurbies in the States?
I too don't understand why the Defender has such a following, but have to admit dropping a tuned V8 in one sounds very exciting. Great video, but I'll pass on your dress sense, is that an 80s Burton's jacket? lol
What engine ?
Americans: "We have Trophy trucks! We can because we like big stuff with big V8s! Murica Yeah"
Brits: "Would you mind awfully holding my ale, old chap?"
I find it hard driving defenders no room at all
The seating position is a bit upright but they're hardly devoid of room.
Didn't Harry Metcalfe have a 'Spectre' Defender?
He did
Bowler Wildcat >>> Range Rover Defender!
Imagine going to ya local shop in that...Ha!
So it's a sales pitch
its actually very disappointing to hear bowler have opted to use a Jaguar V8 in their more race derived vehicle as per the original series had a hybrid V8 using a mix of landy engine bottom-end & a TVR top amongst other items, which gave teh car the performance & snarl we're all remembering fondly from the top gear footages throughout the years etc & yes it sounds & erforms much better then the Jag item we've just witnessed...
I'm just curious how much of a replica that Spectre land rover was as power should've been increased, which you don't really see in this footage it looks stock. anyway I'm curious how much a replica version would sell for compared to a genuine item as x1 is currently still for sale asking over £235K (reduced from £265k as its been stood for months) & their was also another sold at auction.
What would you prefer both companies opted for? An LS1?
@@skylined5534 what are you going on about? if your referring to engines I'd opt for the original hybrid engine, as per my comment states, over teh Jag V8... why the hell would anyone opt for a 'LS' engine
I really hope I win the lottery before the 13th February.
How much is the bet for? Not sure what’s worse that coat or the hair.
I have not heard you laugh with such an evil sound being emitted from your mouth this much ever!
Enjoyed that didn't you 😃
NICE TO SEE A DEFENDER LOOKING SMARTER THAN THE REVEIWER. MIND YOU WOULDNT HAVE BEEN DIFFICULT
sorry, right or wrong I feel I have to say something as its taking my attention away from the fantastic content - YOUR TROUSERS- why are they so long? why are you standing on them? you can get chinos for about £9 all over the internet in a multitude of sizes...
Personally I have never really seen the point of trying to make off road vehicles into sports cars,it would be like putting a diesel into a Countach to give it better low down pull then a four wheel drive conversion, followed by big mud tyres and long travel suspension, if you want a performance car just buy one, there are plenty out there to chose from, unfortunately the motoring press didn't like the body roll that 4X4s had and criticized them for it, either through ignorance as to why it had long travel suspension or the inability to evaluate the vehicle on anything other than a sports car mentality, if off road vehicles have to be evaluated as cars then cars should also be evaluated as off road vehicles, tow weight, ramp over angles, abilities in mud, snow, water, etc etc, like for like that would be fair,
Skellator 😂😂 🤣🤣
Thinking about it, the Defender fans are the off road equivalent of supra fans. Hate the new ones and overestimate their capabilities
To be fair the new Defender has already proved its self as a thoroughly competent off roader.
I can"t see the point of getting a scarecrow who doesn"t like the cars to review the collection for sale!.Better to get someone who likes the vehicles to highlight there strengths ,instead of taking an offroad racing machine through a couple of puddles and telling you how much he dislikes them.
You only think they are terrible to drive because you mistakenly think they are road cars.
Feel like I’m watching a replay on forza horizon
Land Rover TRX
As road cars defenders are rubbish, i love them but because of they they and there stable mates do off it. You really need to experience some less tarmac oriented Land Rovering at some point:)
I had one as a daily for years and covered a good few miles in it.
They don't make 'rubbish road cars' but that depends on your expectations and previous experiences of car ownership I suppose.
Mine was a tail happy bastard in the wet though, had it sideways a few times... sideways like an oil tanker.
If anyone wants to buy a BOWLER..modified defender 90 from 2015, I have one for sale......beautiful....
Totally cool cars, but this presentation is little slow...
Nah I love mine
"Most of the English speaking world" hasn't a clue who you are
You do
Over priced and over rated vehicles there,. and i say that as a Defender driving Farmer...lol
Utterly pointless cars...perfect.
Tarmac tarmac, supposed to be an off-roader .......
