I'm brand new to sewing and I was wondering why my machine wasn't going in reverse. Turns out it was stuck in reverse. I didn't know which direction it was supposed to pull the material 🤣 thanks for your video. Now how to figure out how to open my machine.... I'll have to watch your other video you mentioned.
OMG!! amazing! exactly the same problem on the same model machine. Bit doubtful as my metal arm hinge wasn't moving unless I pushed with a screw driver - but sure enough after 10 mins of oiling and moving forth manually - IT LOOSENED UP completely - now works like a dream machine!! THANK YOU so much for posting!
I actually finished a project by turning my machine back to front to sew when it was stuck in reverse before I saw this video I thought this was gonna my new normal LOL
Thank you so much for this tutorial as it helped me to repair our sewing machine. I would however suggest after cleaning the moving parts with switch cleaner and letting them dry I used watch oil to lubricate the moving parts as I do not believe that the silicone spray would be long-lasting :-)

It worked! Thanks a lot. I own a very old industrial Singer (20U) and could not figure out was was wrong. We just applied some oil and wiggled the level until it was well lubricated. That did it!

If I had a machine like this and I took it apart to this point I would go ahead and spritz a bit of lubricant on any metal to metal movement. Do not open the motor to lubricate it.
I cant find your video on how to open up the sewing machine case. When I look under your Videos, it's all the ones you like, not the ones you've created.

I just bought a New Home Janome pink small mini sewing machine at a thrift store for my 8 year old Daughter that is also sewing in revers. When I push the reverse button it goes forward. Do you think this could be mechanical? There are no springs inside it.
My machine sews backwards but I don't believe the issue is with the backstitch button. When I press the backstitch button, it sews forwards (correctly). Any ideas what I can do to fix it?
It depends on the age of the machine but I have a Singer 247 which runs on cams. If you're cam is backwards then it reverses the direction when you press the button. With the hand wheel on the right and the top opened you should see something moving forward and backwards. You can spin it on the rod to work in the right direction.
1:47 pm 12/23/22. I have a baby lock expire sewing machine. I was threading I a bobbin and picked up nippers To cut thread not noticing a strait pin had magnetized and was stuck to it until I saw it falling into the hole around the bobbin winder on top of machine. Will I tare it up my machine if I run it ? I took the only screw on the front piece of machine trying to look to see if I could get pin out but can’t figure out how to remove that portion of plastic. Afraid I will break plastic if I try to pry it off. I have two more gifts to make so if you could let me know if there is a way to get cover off it would help me so much. Or tell me if there is anything in that end that I would ruin my sewing machine if I try to finish my sewing. Thank you for any advice you can give me🎄
so I just got an old Baby Lock Companion 2400 and after doing some light cleaning and reoiling it only sews in reverse the lever feels and moves normal though no matter if its pressed or not the machine sews in reverse? Any tips or should I go for servicing?

Oh no! Heavens! That's not good! I don't know off the top of my head. Can it be seen in the video anywhere? You know what I'd do? Call me crazy but I'd put your sewing machine into the car & go to a sewing machine repair shop or a fabric store or a carburetor repair shop-carb repair has springs & those guys are good at analyzing that stuff. No, really! : )
HI. I have NO idea at ALL. I don't have one of those-I only have this one sewing machine. It might be a similar mechanism. Open it up slowly, take photos, take your time, and slowly analyze it. You might be able to do it. I did it that way & it turned out ok. : )

However, if you watch this video and employ my methodology-take it slow, film carefully, take notes-perhaps even draw pictures, you might be able to do what I just did myself here. Unfortunately, WD40 destroys grease, which is why iy should not be used for this type of repair.

I don't know. I'm not a pro. I bet if not it's pretty similar in many ways. Give it a shot-just go slow and record video-slowly. Sloooowly.

My singer 4452 is stuck in reverse neither. How can i fix it?

Fixed it! I opened it up more and there was a spring that was disconnected (tbh i'm not fully sure if I connected it correctly) but its normal now.

Hm. Interesting. Does the lever move at all like the one showed in the video? If not, it might be EXTREMELY stuck.
My sewing machine's hand wheel is not moving what to do (thread is not stuck)

My machine squeaks when I turn the handwheel backwards. Do you know why?
I'm guessing it needs to be oiled. Go to a sewing shop & get some special sewing machine oil from them.
