I am a video behind. That’s summer life! You are a very good mom to stay home with the pets while Jennifer and family are off seeing beautiful places and shopping at wonderful stores. I cant wait until I watch the next video to see what she brought home for you 🤣 I LOVE your cherry tree blossom robin! I’ve had that kitted since it came out and yours is making me want to start it. That’s all, no comments for that Jennifer. Maybe next time 😉

Thank you ladies for another great floss tube! Loved your finishes and that quilt is so fun!! Happy vacation Jen!!
I really like the cross stitch store in Cape May, NJ, right in their little downtown mall area. I’m looking forward to Missouri later this summer to Quilt Town USA to meet Jenny Doan at Missouri Star Quilt Company too!!! Have a blast at the Sisters Quilt Show!!! I’m planning on attending that next year, post pics if you have time. Happy summer!!! Denise

Great wips gals and the Wind Drifter quilt is so pretty, Carol! I love Jen’s quilt behind you also. The illusion of depth really fascinates me. If you’re talking about threads, then WDW is Weeks Dye Works. The Silver Needle in Tulsa, OK is amazing. I’m about 1 1/2 hours away. Happy stitching and enjoy your trip, Jen. Carol, I’m not a cat person either. Hope you can get a puppy real soon💕

My dad and I went to Hill Country in Texas and I found 2 awesome cross stitch stores….The Tinsmiths Wife in Comfort (also has yarn and needlepoint) and The Golden Needle in San Marcos. (They are moving to New Bruenfels soon….so check before you go. Both shop owners were awesome. Tinsmiths wife is huge. My dad waited patiently as I walked around for 3 hours. 😇
Jen, I hope you enjoyed (are enjoying) your vacation and that my brother was nice to you in Bend. 🤣🤣

I recently got back from a 30 day road trip from California to the Midwest. I was able to hit a ten yarn/quilt/cross stitch shops I’ve dreamt of visiting. My two favorites on this trip were Buttermilk Basin wool appliqué (Minneapolis Minnesota) and Country Sampler quilt and cross stitch (Spring Green Wisconsin ). But my very favorite I’ve been to was on a 2017 trip to Shepherds Bush in Ogden Utah.

A tremendous thank you for answering my questions. 2 years ago my youngest daughter took me to Las Vegas to see Donnie Osmond. While there, we Ubered to Stitchers Paradise. I had no idea I had gone to such a famous and sought after cross stitch store. However, I found a gem in Clarksville, Ga. The Tudor Rose. It is owned and operated by a lovely English woman. Not only does she have cross stitch, but she has added Liberty of London, Tilda, and William Morris to name a few, which are hard to find in my neck of the woods, as well as Riley Blake, Moda, etc. in her front room are the most amazing and different items for sale from Europe. She has an exquisite shop. I’m so fortunate to have found it and get to visit about twice a year.

Jennifer, your quilt of the day is beautiful, and the reindeer one is going to be so cute. Carol, your wind quilt turned is very pretty and delicate looking. I hope you have good luck in getting a new doggie soon. Thank you to your viewer who suggested making returned pieces into project bags. Your question of the day is always fun, though I am quite concerned about the 3 stitchers who have no fabric stash 😳😱 Perhaps you guys aren't enabling them enough. Though I remember those days, when I just got back into stitching and would buy a pattern, floss and fabric for it, and that was all. How insane was that lol. Have a great holiday. Take care, and happy stitching.

Thank you for another wonderful flosstube! My two older sisters and I take a sister trip each year( not the Covid years 🙁). Years ago they came to visit me in South Dakota and we traveled to Lincoln, NE to see a petroglyph (don’t ask 😂) and added the International Quilt Museum there to our trip. During another trip to New Hampshire, my oldest sister surprised me with a stop in Meredith, NH at Keepsake Quilting. It was a wonderful shop but I am afraid it is no longer there. My sisters are not quilters so they went to a nearby bookstore. I so appreciate our trips together and that they indulge me with these stops. Now we will need to be on the lookout for cross stitch shops too!

I’m thinking that you must have visited my LNS in Alexandria VA - In Stitches Needlework, it’s been in business close to 40 years and it’s a great shop. For a great yarn shop in the DC area, you can’t beat fibre space in Old Town Alexandria (I worked there 6 years post-retirement, now I’m fully retired and just shop and meet my knitting group there). Last summer I finally visited Hobby House Needleworks near Rochester NY, which is terrific. I must have missed the episode where you asked about size and storage of fabric stash - I have a medium stash and I store it on pants/skirt hangers, organized by count and maker - I don’t like to deal with creases in my fabric. Thank you both for all the inspiration- especially the FFO challenge!

Linaida is an Aida fabric woven with linen (flax) fibers. Sometimes the flax is blended with cotton fibers.
A travel gem is The Quarter Stitch in New Orleans - mainly yarn and needlepoint, but they have some Louisiana-themed cross stitch patterns. Loved the place and bought many needlepoint canvases there when I traveled to NO regularly - needlepoint can be a great travel project - no pattern to juggle on a plane, etc.
A recent visit was to Cross Stitch Cupboard near Ft Lauderdale, FL. A cute shop crammed with lots of treasures, and a great place to find a few new things before you board a cruise.
    Love your projects!

My husband typically drives by quilt and cross stitch stores and then says, "Oh, if only I could find a place to turn around." 😊 But, as luck would have it, my knitting buddies took me to the largest yarn store in the US, in Springfield, MA called WEBS. The front of the store is three times the size of a typical yarn shop and then...........there is the back room, which is even larger, full of industrial shelving with yarn that is marked way down. Since I store what I bought there under our bed, I doubt if he could sleep if he knew what was under there! I love all your videos because you share so many ideas for both quilting and cross stitching. Thank you!

While visiting our daughter in Viera Fl I found a quilt store in Rocklegde called"the Quilt Place" It was amazing with about 3 long arms going quilting clients quilts. They had a fabulous selection of fabrics as well. Unfortunately the owner closed that location and concentrated on her shop in Melbourne which is now out of way for me to travel. I haven't found a LNS in that area or where I live in Western PA. Carol you certainly tell it like it is! You are funny!

I don't often go into quilt/cross-stitch/yarn stores on vacation as my family always has other plans, but I went to Hawaii (the Big Island) about 10 years ago and when we visited the volcanos there was a lovely quilt shop not too far from there. The answers for the fabric storage are fascinating. I have a smaller stash of cross stitch fabric, but it's all ironed & hung on skirt hangers (the kind with clips). Usually it's hung by size - smaller cuts together, larger cuts together. I loved your scout exchange! We never had such cool things in our scout council - but we have family friends who live in Pierrefonds and it's a great place to visit.

Did you coordinate your outfits to match your quilt ladies? By far my favorite shop on a vacation was Quilter’s Station in Lees Summit MO. It is quilting fabric, cross stitch, wool and soooooo much more. The layout, the amount of product, the type of designers, the staff…tough on the wallet but so wonderful. We drove so space was not an issue (thank goodness)! I won’t fly there the next time, but will wait for a road-trip because I am sure I will stockpile a bit more. 😂

It wasn’t really a vacation but when my son and his family moved to Tulsa, OK, I visited The Silver Needle! I walked in & walked back out and told my husband, who was waiting in the car, that he needed to go find a golf store because “I just died and went to heaven & was going to be awhile”! It is the most fabulous store I have ever been to and very well organized! Since then my son moved back to MO so I don’t get there very often! 😢. Have a great vacation Jen! Oklahoma was one of the states I needed to visit so found the cross stitch shop and I would have spent a lot more time there if we didn’t have to drive three hours to get back to our hotel. Lots of samples of all the different types of cross stitch and not just samplers. I was able to kit a few projects plus bought quite a few patterns

Used to live close to it, so went there quite often.
But, compared to the Cs shops you have in the US this one was boring. Only Danish pattern and plain aida, and probably some linen... DMC and Danish Flower thread. That was about it.

When I traveled to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, I would take a day and drive to Virginia Beach to Dyeing to Stitch, the home of R&R fabrics. Beautiful store and nice owners/employees. Now I go to South Carolina near Myrtle Beach and visit Barefoot Needlearts in Surfside Beach. The owners are knowledgeable and very nice. My very favorite store is the one where I work, the Cross Stitch Cupboard in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

I am wondering how you "print" a label for your quilt, Carol? I helped my 9 yr grandson make a quilt of valor to present to a veteran, and we still need to put a label on it. It was going to cross stitch one, or letter one with a permanent marker. I saw directions to fuse fabric on butcher paper and run it through the printer, but I was fearful it would mess up my printer. So I'm intrigued what you do.

Loved your latest flosstube ladies! My favorite quilt store when traveling across Iowa is Inspired to Sew in Cedar Rapids, IA. My favorite quilt store with wool, x stitch and threads is Woolen Needle in Williamsburg IA.
I have a linen question: I have some black linen that I’m x-stitching on and it is SO dark I’m having trouble seeing the holes. I noticed Jennifer had stitched on black and Carol had stitched on a charcoal piece. Is there a type of black linen that is easier to stitch on than others? Any hints/tips you have for stitching on black?

Luv your videos. I know you mentioned this before but I can’t remember. What Janome sewing machines do you own. What machine would you recommend for piecing quilts ❤

Yes, I have been surprised to see several former quilt designers doing (or commenting on) flosstubes these days!
