Happy New Year ladies, and hope you and your families enjoyed a wonderful Christmas season. I live in southern New Hampshire and we've had a few flurries here and there but no snow for us either and I desperately want some as well. It's amazing how mild December was for us. Just love your beautiful finish on your embroidered snowman banner, great fabrics and it all looks wonderful together Jen. This past fall we had our first all New England quilt hop which definitely added to my spending on cross stitch and quilting together. So for this past year I'll go with $$$$. I'm going to try to stitch and sew from stash this year...wish me luck!! :)

It was nice to see both of your children, Jennifer, very merry. Love the blue tree quilt 💙 Glad Cindy is still fitting in, besides the whole Christmas Tree thing 😂 When my husband heard the dollar sign question he said - well you are certainly at five dollar signs. Carol, Yankee Candle makes some scented sticks that you can hang on your artificial tree to give you the pine scent. I use them and they are fragrant for the entire season. Hi ladies!!!! Thanks for gifting us a new Flosstube to enjoy for Christmas ☺️. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas & a Happy, Healthy😂 New Year!!!! Such a treat to meet Jack & to see Jenna again…I bet it was the “thrill” of their year. LOL.
Carol, you & I must be in sync with our stitching choices, because I started Cardinal Wreath by Tiny Modernist earlier this week. I also agree that the 5 line division on the chart is CONFUSING. I finally got so frustrated with it that I made a copy & taped the two halves together. That helped immensely.
Jennifer, the color that you wore during the filming looked really good on you! I will also be joining your LK SAL in January. (I plan on stitching the chart pack that I purchased from your mom @ the fall retreat 😉)
I would consider my stitching spending to be between $$ / $$$…..now if you asked Phil 🤣😂🤣😂. (I included to my estimate purchasing project bags, finishing charges, charts, linen & threads). Some months I spend very little. Other months are 🤦‍♀️ embarrassing

merry christmas! I have finished several smalls I finished stitching but there is beginning to be a pile of not fully finished objects lying around. But when I first got back into stitching I just stitched them and taped them on my closet door! I embarrassingly spend wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much on this hobby - so I will confess $$$$$. I keep all the receipts and told my hubby I did, NOT because I want him to look (oh heaven forbid!) but so he knows how much all this stuff is worth if something happens to me and he doesn't trash it or give it all to Goodwill! I was gifted supplies and equipment for punch needle at Christmas - like I need another hobby - however I feel better about it since I already have threads/floss and patterns from the PNPS magazine.

I have two pieces that were always hanging on the wall in my grandmother's kitchen. After years, they were in pretty bad shape. I actually soaked them in Oxyclean and they came out so nice and clean - no more yellowing/rust stains. I was amazed at how well that product worked. I never thought about the thread bleeding but there was no issue. I guess they were making pretty decent threads back then. I'm assuming these two pieces are close to 70 or 80 years old. I'm 73 so they had to have been close to my age since I always remember them being on the kitchen wall. The are a combination of cross stitch and some embroidery stitches. I've never used the sewing method. I'm fine with the punch & stab method. No interest in changing.

I would rate my purchases at a 1. I had many years that reached 5 so now I can live out my life on my stash.

$$$$$ I spend quite a bit on my quilting, but I use it. I don't just buy to buy, I buy with a plan in place and make a lot each year. My stash usage is better than my stash enhancement. I love seeing the kids. My they have grown up!

You’ve never had a big stash and I admire that! Your kids are growing up too, doesn’t seem like that long ago they were all running around in the Badlands!

Loved catching up with you both! Thank you so much for the shout out! I would say $$$ meaning more than I need to but yet lots of it gets used and enjoyed so not overly excessive. Hope you had a very merry Christmas!

Hi Carol and Jennifer, it was so nice spending Christmas Eve with you both. Carol, what I did this year was get 10 quilt tubs (sweater size) out. Each one contains a kit or fabric and pattern for a quilt. (There are a lot more than 10 tubs.) Then I proceeded to cut out each one marking and placing in zip lock bags. Then I started sewing the tops together. I have 3 ready to quilt. They are all king size. Your baby quilt is gorgeous. Jennifer, did you put any batting in your embroidery wall hanging. It is beautiful. $$ Happy Stitching and Quilting. ❤❤❤

RE spending. I'm in Canada. That means that if I buy in the US, $1.00 USD = about $1.30 CAD. So I don't shop in the US (even online; the shipping's a killer!) I quilt, knit and stitch, and have been doing these crafts for 30 years (quilting), 60 years (stitching) and over 60 years (knitting). I've inherited yarn, fabric, sewing thread and stitching floss. Thus my main expenses are: patterns for knittng (not many, and I go for "free" for the 'squirrels' that catch my eye); for quilting (batting) and stitching (patterns -- free if possible; fabric as needed and the odd skein of floss). I've been given a great deal of DMC over time but there are gaps, and also there are times when I use up a colour. And then there is finishing. I can do my own flat-folds or pillows, but from time to time I either buy a frame (to do it myself) or have a piece framed. Hard to put an annual price on that -- but let's say $200 CAD or less on the framing option.

The bonus of your grandkids was fun...I could see my kids doing the same thing and being coached! I probably spend $$$$ on my crafts...more than I need to or plan to, but some of the new patterns are just so cute, and I also occasionally succumb to the temptation of kits from shops. Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year (and I hope Carol gets snow soon)!
