Enjoyed your video! Lots of lovely items. I use floss bags for my floss. I store them by color, numerically on rings and hang them on a floor stand swivel towel rack that I found on Amazon. Tried bobbins but that was just too much extra work setting it up. The floss bags work perfectly for me. Enjoy your stitching!

Congratulations on all your finishes, Ladies!! You're an inspiration.
I store my DMC floss on bobbins. Floss drops don't work for me, so my dyed floss I put in Floss Away bags when working on a project. Hugs❤

Enjoy your videos & projects! Floss Organization…I do it all…Fancy Floss on rings alphabetically. DMC: bobbins from the 1990’s, skeins in 5x7 photo boxes & diy floss drops numerically… I use floss drops for current WIPS. All my stash is meticulously documented in an Excel Spreadsheet.

Keep and work from one master set stored on bobbins kept in 8 plastic boxes on a rolling cart. At one time did kit up projects in bags and found too much $ was sitting in bags. Now I find I move thru projects much faster. So inspired by all your finishes!this

I store my threads on floss drops on metal rings. I store them on cup holders with hooks that fit over my shelf and the rings hang down under the shelf in number order. I have three cup holders with 6 hooks on each. I found them on Amazon.

Love your videos! I love seeing all you have stitched, crocheted, quilted or sewed. You ladies are very inspiring! I store my DMC floss on bobbins and keep in a double sided container. My Weeks Dye Works, Classic Colorworks, and Colour and Cotton floss I store on 3 inch rings alphabetically and store in individual decorative boxes.

I bobbinate my DMC threads and they are stored in three plastic containers. Some threads are over 30 years old. Because I don’t have much fancy floss yet, they are in plastic bags. I will be happy with any suggestions for those. Love your flosstube! Thanks for sharing with all of us.

Another great flosstube. I store my floss (DMC is main floss) on bobbins in floss away bags. The floss is then by number on rings and the rings of floss are stored in square tote boxes from Dollar Tree. What little fancy floss I have is stored in floss away bags but not on bobbins.

Well thread storage...hmmm I guess you've named all the ways I do it. I have some in bags. I have a lot on rings. I have some in drawers and I have some specialty flosses hanging on the back of my door. I also have bought a couple boxes of floss already bobinated. So if that's organization well that's what I do.😅

I have always kept my DMC in 2"x3" plastic bags in long narrow boxes in a chest of drawers. Specialty floss is on rings in color name order. My Victorian Motto is residing in the bags it came in. I wanted an option to do my own color combos and I like that it comes in longer quantities and that appealed to me.

Love the finish on Christmas rules and the cookie design from HOD. I have the DMC chest which stores one set of DMC for me (as they come) and I replenish them as I use any from there - when the urge comes to kit a project at 10pm and going to Michaels isn't an option. Lol. All my other threads are in floss drops - either in my project bags or in a couple of tin boxes.

Carol, I have the same light surface and use it mainly for finishing. For instance if I’m mounting a stitch on a sticky board I’ll put the board on the light and then center my piece on it with the help of the light. And if I lived closer I would LOVE to organize your room!

Congrats on Christmas rules finish! I store my floss several different ways. New unopened skeins of DMC go into storage bins into individual drawers labeled by color number. Fancy floss goes into small project boxes and are left on their floss drops when I use them. When I start a brand new skein I put it on a plastic bobbin and store in a drawer cabinet. It has taken me years to figure out what works for me and I do have a small amount of floss that are on floss drops and as I use it up I am converting everything to my new way of storage.

My DMC floss is on bobbins in the plastic boxes...8 boxes currently. I also have a complete set of DMC skeins a cabinet, and other miscellaneous extras roughly grouped by number in a rolled up length of fabric held closed by a velcro strap. My collection includes the DMCs in the 4000's. My silks from Vikki Clayton are in a cabinet, and other fancy flosses are in plastic boxes. My daughter and my son's girlfriend have been known to shop from my floss stash...and my fabric stash as well. Great job with all of the FFOs!

I bobbinate my DMC floss and store it in the common plastic boxes. I have some colors that date back to the 80's and are in a separate box because they are wound on cut up pieces of index cards because back then I didn't but much extra stuff. I don't use a lot of fancy floss (again still thrifty) but am starting to collect more but it is still mostly in the project bags it belongs to. I do have a small ring from finished projects with all my fancy floss together, still not enough to separate it out on different rings by type. Thanks as always for another fun video. Always a fan. . .

It was great to watch y'all! I'm always super happy when you have a new episode! Carol, congratulations on your FFO of Christmas Rules! It's beautiful!! Jennifer, all your FFOs are lovely, but I especially love that "condensed" flat fold for Christmas Cookies. The fabric is perfect, but I also love that you made a smaller tab for the opening. As for floss storage, a few years ago I got tired of the folds in the thread from bobbins and switched to floss drops for anything that comes in a skein (DMC and Cosmo in particular). So much better! I make my own drops with light-ish weight scrapbooking card stock; they are colorful and fun to make. I put the flossdrops on big rings in numerical order and hang the rings on pegs inside a closet. The fancy floss stays on the drops it comes on and goes on rings in alphabetical order; each manufacturer has its own set of rings and those go on pegs in the closet as well. It's easy for me to find the colors I need for any project, and it makes putting it all away at the end much less painful than other ways I've tried. Plus, what's not to love about opening the closet and seeing all those colors hanging there?! 🙂

Lots of smiles and laughs again gals! Both of your finishes are lovely! I store my floss in small plastic floss baggies that stand in a plastic craft box with a handle. Like the first one that I bought years ago that was meant for hot wheels cars. I must admit that I have quite a bit in a bowl that needs putting in their little baggie still. That’s a real pain when looking for the floss I need! Until next time, happy stitching!

I used to be a bobbinator but I’m slowly switching them over to floss drops on big binder rings. I like having a smaller hole punch to add my leftover pieces. I think you’ll really like your new yarn. I’ve made two pairs of socks with that brand and they wash and wear beautifully. Can’t wait to see them finished!

I use Floss Away bags and love them. They are filed by number in the boxes that are for photos from Michaels. I also do the same thing for my overdyed. Each bag has a white piece of paper and the name of the color is written across the top. They are filed the same way and they aren’t divided by manufacturer. They are just filed by the color name. It works well since I don’t have a huge collection. By using these bags, you can save some of your larger pieces of thread for another time instead of just throwing them away. Chris

As for storing my threads I mainly use DMC but I do have some of the specialty threads, not as many. I have mine in the little floss bags and I put them on rings and they’re in numerical order so it’s easy for me to pull my threads when I need to use them for projects. I keep them all in a fun big basket it’s a woven wood basket , kind of heavy duty. Works great for me. Keep up the great floss tubes. 🙂

I have just recently put my floss in floss away bags then on a ring numerically, i.e. 200s on a ring, 300s on a ring, etc. Most of what I have is DMC floss. Then I pull the bags for the number for the project I’m working on. Unfortunately they are in a large box, until I get a rod to hang them all on. That’s the plan. I enjoy questions and the charts you show. Thanks 😊

Great show - love the Christmas Rules finish! In answer to your question: all my threads are stored in a medium bin. The hand dyed are in alphabetical order on rings in plastic bags - each dyer in a separate bag. The DMC threads are in plastic sandwich bags, divided by hundreds (but not in numerical order within the bags). . I gave away my 20 year old bobinated DMC threads last year. My few silk threads are in floss away bags in a small pouch - all in numerical order. I’ll be interested to hear the results of your survey.

Hi ladies. Thank you for the video. Beautiful finishes and stitchy kindness! ⚘️
    Re: floss storage
Disclaimer: I have a long hair cat, so plastic is my friend.🙄🤣
I store full DMC skeins in number order on long sheets of card, inside large ziploc bags, so I can see at a glance whether I have it. I squeeze the air out of the bags so the skeins don't move around. Partial skeins are bobbinated or in floss bags on a ring (I'm a newish stitcher, still trying to decide what I like). When I have too many to fit on a ring, I'll move the floss bags to a photo box. Floss pulled for a project is in floss bags on a ring.
Full skeins of fancy floss are on rings in large ziploc bags, in alphabetical order, a bag for each designer. Partial floss skeins are kept in floss bags on a ring, in alphabetical and designer order.
The main thing I dislike about bobbins is what to do with the leftover pieces of floss. If there's a floss bag, it's simple.
The main thing I dislike about floss bags is the size: having to fold a DMC skein in half so it can fit inside the bag.

Great flosstube ❤❤ No pun intended but the Valentine quilt was really cute- and I’m not big on heart designs. I would have sewn that one. The other finishes were great as well. You’re both so creative. Super question- we have a collection of DMC from ‘80 & 90’s on bobbins. (My sister & I). For new DMC acquisitions we’ll move to floss drops to store numerically on large rings or in a file box. Working that out. Specialty threads are on rings in numerical order by maker: week, classic color works, Roxy FlossCo. Silks are on rings in floss bags in maker/numerical order & 100.3’s are in thread boxes, again in numerical order. All Specialty threads are also in plastic shoe boxes. Whew-sorry for the long response!

I was given a set of cards on rings that basically make a line of floss drops that was put out by DMC. A gal gave up stitching, so there were quite a few on them. They've added numbers since then, so I take cardboard like cereal boxes, cut them that size, punch the holes across them, and make the drops. For the individual projects, I look through full skeins, then the drop system, and make floss drops for each project. I store most things in project bags I have made myself.
I hate bobbins. I actually took my mom's floss off of bobbins and put them on the drop system, then punched holes in the bobbins and made floss drops out of them. The kinks drive me crazy!

Lots of nice finishes, ladies! My overdyed threads are on large rings alphabetically by brand. I have an antique corner cupboard right by my stitching chair. I hang the rings on command hooks on the inside of the doors. I can just reach over and grab a ring. When I got back into stitching, I put my DMC on bobbins and organized them by color in plastic boxes. However, I don't really like all the kinks that leaves, so now I put them in floss away bags on big rings organized by number. Those are stored in a little table with drawers right beside my stitching chair. I have very few silks. It's nice to have everything within reach of my chair.

I transitioned from bobbins to floss drops about 2 years ago and I have mine hung on the wall across from my bathroom for 2 reasons: a) something pretty to see coming out of the washroom! B) very little natural light there so they won’t fade. Carol I loved your Christmas rules finish!! Did you put a backing between the 2 stitched piece and the fabric and then sew them together? My back-up newer DMC threads, I store in ziploc bags by 100s, such as 0 to 100, 100 to 200, etc. and store all of those little bags in a nice small clear plastic bin. I use my main set of DMCs first, then bobbinate the newer ones as I need them. I love this system. On the first day of every year I turn all my hangers the wrong way in my closet so at the end of the year all if any that I didn't take down and wear and hang right I get rid of. Valentine should last all year when you have the right man to celebrate each day of it. Have you checked out the globetrotting stitcher floss tube. I store my fancy/over dyed floss in small storage containers that have 3 compartments in each one and I separate the floss by colors and lay them in there. They are just big enough to lay floss flat. I have 3 containers. My dmc needs some work lol. I just have them in freezer/storage bags one for each floss numbers 0-100, 100’s, 200’s etc. I quilt and sew, crochet, and cross stitch and do embroidery and my space is pretty small so I try to not to accumulate too much….I try😂🤷‍♀️

Wow!!! All the FFOs are fantastic!! Congratulations, Carol, for getting your Rules finished 🌟 I love the Halloween piece with all the specialty stitches, Jen!!🎃
I bobbinate all my floss when I use it. I have a master set of DMC in floss boxes. My partially used DMC is stored in baskets in individual zipper bags in number order. Partially used overdyed floss is sorted in pencil boxes by maker - arranged by color. I could go on with additional efforts I make too😂 I am definitely NOT a random squirrel storage with floss🤣. Thank you for sharing!💚

I keep my DMC on bobbins in plastic organizers. My fancy flosses are on their thread keeps in flossaway bags, stored alphabetically on rings. But, as a retired CPA, I am an a bit of an Excel geek! I originally purchased a DMC master spreadsheet on Etsy. I have since added many additional tabs for my fancy threads. If one of my fancy threads is kitted somewhere, I have the name of that project next to the name. And, yes, I keep all of my charts in another spreadsheet, including fabric used. AND, I use an Excel workbook created by Teresa Little Stitcher to track what I stitch every day! I know, a little crazy! But when kitting a new project, it is very easy to find out what threads in already have.
Love watching the fun you have together.

You are both great inspirations for finishes and fully finished. Thanks. DMC is mostly bobbinated on larger bobbins and stored numerically in photo boxes. Any specialty flosses I have are stored on their tags on rings alphabetically.

Hello ladies, thread storage, DMC cabinet, an antique spool cabinet is housing floss rings of specialty threads. Enjoy your quilts and those ideas you share. Quilting now for over 50 years, I started when I was 14 or 15. Blessed to have a share lots of quilts as gifts, my legacy. I inherited a bunch of dmc. I put them in gallon size ziplock by 100's then one bag over 1000. I am still trying to find the right way to store them. I have some bob 0:00 inated in plastic box. Some on acrylic flossdrops with metal ring which I really like for stitching. So I guess I have all of the above.

My floss skeins are stored in the Joann’s floss organizer bags (ziplock style) when not in a kit. DMC by number, fancy flosses by color. When pulled for a kit I transfer the skein to a floss drop on a ring. The DMC number or the fancy floss maker and color is written on the floss drop. I use to store them on the bobbins because when I started to cross stitch the patterns said to store the floss on the bobbins. I wasn’t a fan of the process or how the threads kinked. When I started cross stitching again a couple of years ago I saw the wonderful floss drops, loved the idea. Currently I don’t have a good space to hang the floss drops in my sewing room when they are not in use. So they are stored in their bag, in a plastic container, by type of thread. Love the Valentine wall hanging. ❤

Great flosstube!! I was laughing so hard as I went to Everything CrossStitch to order Simple Gifts by Told In A Garden right after we “talked” about enabling. 😂 I store DMC on bobbins and have them numerically filed in plastic containers. I store fancy floss alphabetically in acrylic boxes I bought at Fat Quarter Shop. I worry about fading if I hang them up. Congratulations on all of the finishes! I loved them all! Happy stitching!!

I so enjoy stitching with you ladies this morning. Your finishes are wonderful and Jennifer you have inspired me to pull out my under the bed boxes, yes boxes. I found things I didn’t even remember I had stitched! Hopefully I can share some finishes soon. Yes Carol I would love to know where you got your bellpull hardware as I have both of those pieces as well. Thank you both for all that you share. Happy stitching.

Another great flosstube! You both are wonderful. I put my DMC on the bobbins. I have 5 containers for them. I put my fancy floss on rings in color order and then hang them on hooks inside my closet in my quilting/craft room. My husband made me an awesome wooden chest for my valdani thread.

Don’t worry about your sewing room. I had packed away items so I could prime, paint (2 coats each) then pulled up rug and sponge underneath. Put down vinyl tiles. Slowly putting things back. Having back disk issues. So my sewing studio/bedroom is still a mess. Shopping bags around. Items need to be categorized and put on shelves. Yikes, slowly getting to it. Hung two quilts today on a magnetic wall strip.

Have you and your mom always gotten along like this? So fun to watch my daughter hardly has time for me. I’m all over the place with my floss some is on bobbins fancy floss is just on the cards it comes on. New DMC bought for a certain project I just use right off the skein-I want to stitch not waste time bobbin ting or putting on floss drops. Love the Valentine quilt wish that panel was still available. Happy crafting Ladoes🪡🧵

I am a long time bobbinator (from before the word bobbinator was coined.) I began putting all my floss on My Floss Key-pers (shaped like a key) and store them in round boxes sorted by color. They are so pretty and I love the rainbow color effect. Then my friend gave me her entire stash which is on the little square cardboard bobbins also sorted by color and stored in plastic floss bobbin boxes. So I have two good stashes to choose from. So much fun! And BTW if anyone has any of those old Floss Key-pers that they no longer use, I would gladly buy them from you. I can't seem to find them anywhere.
