You hit it right on the nail. Autonomy is worth about 50% of my salary. That is, I am willing to take a 50% pay cut just so that I don't have to follow orders day in and day out. Deductions are by FARRRRR much much more as self-employed. All the equipment I use, all the travel I do, etc are all tax write offs.

although quality is important, i do think people underestimate the importance of quantity on youtube. every time a video is made, it's like a free play at a slot machine. except you never lose because worst case scenario, the video flops but you've still gained experience and added a new video to the channel's library :D

Interesting to see the earnings of a mid-sized channel. I think there's an opportunity over the next 1-2 years to get to a million subs. If so, 3x the ad revenue + sponsors could easily put you in the 200-300k a year range. However, it would probably take a lot of grinding...
Really loved this! Great insight on Youtubing and our journey. I've seen some pops on my channel and still waiting for the big big one. Getting more consistent now. 2018 was my best revenue year at $525
I would say the Majority of people appreciate transparency more than keeping personal financial information private. Of course it’s up to that creator to disclose but I think it makes the viewer feel closer to the creator.

The affiliates pay roughly 50-100% of what I make on UA-cam. I am obligated to not give specifics by contract but as you can see, I can give you an aggregate sum of all the affiliates together.
Roughly on par for now. But I credit my investment gains to the abundant free time I have from working for myself. When you factor this in, It beats out engineering by about 20% and growing.
Exactly, if you invest right your money will always outpace whatever wages you make from labor/work due to the compounding returns year after year. In the end your 💰 is what's making you more 💰

Unfortunately, as a self employed UA-cam independent contractor, UA-cam doesn't pay FICA taxes like your engineering employer did so you have to pay 15.3% of your earnings rather than the 7.65% you paid as an employed engineer. Social Security and Medicare FICA taxes take a huge bite out of UA-cam income!
@@BeatTheBush Because you're such a high earner you're paying the maximum FICA tax for your social security. But that means that you can look forward to receiving the maximum SS benefit amount when you retire. Retirees at age 70 claiming SS in 2022 can receive as much as $4124/month or $49,488/year. That income is protected from inflation with an annual COLA! Most private retirement plans are NOT indexed for inflation. Sad.

I took a look and it appears Walmart in particular has a lot of exclusions. IN order to get the $40, you need to earn a non-zero cash back. You still qualify if you signed up during that bonus period. Hence, if you still want the deal, you could potentially return the item at your local Walmart and get something that does qualify for the cash back. Hope that helps.
