  • Don't have much time in Shanghai, China? Neither does Trevor! Trevor is back with his second episode of City Sprint where he talks about what to do in a city if you don't have much time.
In this episode, he has about a five hour layover in Shanghai. As an American, he would usually need to get a visa but thankfully China offers a transit visa if you are there for less than 72 hours. Trevor takes advantage of that and heads to see the Shanghai Tower. He only has five hours though. Is that enough to leave Pudong airport, get down to Huangpu River, go up the Shanghai Tower to get a view of The Bund and river, then make it back to the airport in time for his connecting flight? Watch to find out!

Hey! How did you stay connected during your layover? I know that google maps does not work there so I feel like I'll get lost for sure.

Listen, I even hit subscribed. But just asking? Why do you not mention the name of the train? Possibly the price? Etc?

Shanghai Maglev from the airport to the city centre is 50 CNY (one way).
Thanks for commenting, watching, and subscribing. Hope that helps. If you need more information, let us know.

Here's a question. Did you have to get your checked bag before heading out into the city, or did it seamlessly transfer to your final leg and you could just take your carry ons/personal items with you?

TravellinTrev here! I did not have to pick them up. As long as you are staying with the same airline they'll transfer your checked bags to your next flight without you having to worry about it. I just had a backpack with me as a personal item, but if you have larger carry on luggage that you don't want to "sprint" with you can rent a storage locker for RMB15-40 for 4-10 hours.
      Thanks for the question!

I don't think I would have made it if I only had 5, it was that close. But I also had to deal with a really long line at the visa counter. If your visa line is short, I say go for it.

@@redkiwi2351 how long did you wait for your Visa? Someone told me just tell your airline at the airport that you're going to Shanghai. They will informed the authorities in advance of your arriving. And that should be much quicker. Is that right?

Do you have to collect your bags first before you go get your visa...Or will they be transferred to the next flight how does that work?

"You do not need to collect your bags. You can get the 24 hour transit visa on the far right of the immigration hall. Just show them your passport and ticket out of China and you're good to go."-Trevor Jones
