    Schön zu sehen 🤩Hatten diese Musiktruhe. 1963/64.

    I should add that Dad's was a 9065. It only opened from the front. There were speakers in the space above, behind the grill. The top-loader came after Dad's model. I played my first records on the that thing - Buzz Corey, Commander-in-Chief of the Spaaaaace Patrol! And Kostelanetz Plays Berlin - Cheek to Cheek was my favorite cut.

    Sweet. I have one with the same dark finish. But earlier, no top opening. Turntable on left, reel to reel on the right. Added Bluetooth.

    Looks nice, the golden era sound wise was the early to mid 60s models that were stereo, often incorporating 2 12 inch bass drivers, mid range and tweeter's and were like this valve driven.
    By the late 60s early 70s most looked rather bland sideboard designed contraptions with cheap transistor electronics, smaller speakers etc.
    That's not an attack on the design, they were what people wanted, just like aluminium hifi separates in the 70s, with lots of knobs, switches and dial's.

    That is in lovely condition.
    The Wunschklang setting activates the full Equalizer, all 5 knobs, above. Other settings usually only allow base and treble change. The only thing I didn't like with the imports is the limited FM band. It stops at about 100MHz where as the export ones had the full band.

      I wonder if those models can be tweaked to offer a wider range. I have a pre-1949 console with the original Armstrong FM band and someone adjusted the slugs to get most of the 88-108 band, though the markings are still 44-60.

    Beautiful piece! My dad bought one while stationed in Germany in the 50s. It was rarely used once we returned to the States except for a display piece. My brother has it, although the guts are in pieces, now. My fault. We took it apart for Mom so we could put a TV in it. I'm looking for one, but they all seem to be in Chicago or New York - too far for me to retrieve from Kansas. I wouldn't recommend playing records on the turntable, though.

    That would be perfect & look beautiful driving a pair of period correct JBL Hartsfield corner speakers ,or even some Jensen Imperials or Bozaks.

    0:48 I never understood those music-type selector switches; why would you want different settings for different kinds of music, especially when they were Grundig's estimate of what you might like? On the other hand a speech-vs-music selector switch would be quite useful when trying to decipher newscasts; it would be nice to see those on car radios. And, the 5 band equalizer was very much ahead of its time. I also never quite bought the combining of music systems and bars, seems like an invitation for various unfortunate mishaps, but that cabinet is gorgeous.

    If someone wanted to gut it and turn it into a flat panel TV cabinet you could lower TV into to and hide it away it's the right size.

    It would be cool to slightly modify this so you could use a Bluetooth receiver so you could properly play vintage music and old time radio that was around when this radio was new🎉❤ They made this stuff to last and easy to repair as opposed to radios, stereos and other modern electronics of today 😢

    • @victrolalover7795
      @victrolalover7795 8 місяців тому

      Actually, you don't need to modify these to play those tunes! People sell little radio transmitters that can plug into a phone or computer for like 20~ dollars, which makes it very easy to play proper era music on these without modifying them at all!
