I just want to throw in a plug for planning events that are wheelchair accessible. Most knitting retreats are not wheelchair friendly and I get left out of a lot of events. I would love with my whole heart to be able to fully participate and meet some of the greats in our knitting community, just like anyone else.

I love your podcast!! If you are ever thinking of a knitting retreat on Prince Edward Island, please reach out to me and we could make it happen!!! On a boat, on the beach, in a resort, in a hotel. We could make it happen!!
CRUISE TIP: I have taken several knitting cruises with Knit & Stitch in Cocoa FL before she sold the store last year. She learned with her first cruise that it was best to have knitting classes on SEA DAYS as most people (over 200) would want to go on excursions on PORT days. Having you do a cruise out of Port Canaveral for the east coast peeps would be great. The shop here had the cruise last of Oct. beginning of Nov for 7 days. 3-4 was too short.
I’d love to cruise with you. Actual yarn cruise around UK visiting Shetland Islands, The Fairisle and Ireland would be so amazing.
I love how the knitters for Jodi are making her sweaters more true to size. I think sometimes we have a idea of our body size and shape and end up making things to big or small…
By sending off her true measurements for the knitter she’s getting amazing results. I need to take my true measurements and knit around the reality.. ❤

Thanks for the honest sharing of some lessons learned. I try to remind myself when things don’t go as planned that it’s all just part of the process so I don’t beat myself up. Learning is part of the journey!

Cruise Lines have to reposition their boats after a season is over. For example a boat that is used during the summer for cruising in Scandinavia may reposition in the fall to the Caribbean for winter cruising. Those repositioning cruises are usually cheaper because they are trying to fill the boat to cover costs and have more "At Sea" days. Port stops are less frequent because there is a lot of open sea they need to cover.
One of the repositioning cruises could be a perfect knitting retreat choice. With more At Sea days you can bring on additional instructors to offer more classes and be able to increase the number of participants. Also with more at sea days there is more time for sitting and knitting. You could maybe work with a cruise company and offer some onboard markets with vendors for yarn and notions.
The downside is that you are sailing out of one port and disembarking at a different port so airline tickets can be more expensive.
You already addressed the need to announce sooner than the day before. I recommend next time instituting a lottery vs first come first serve. Even with advance notice not everyone can stop at a certain time and have Internet access to "fight" for a spot. You have a block of time (maybe a week) where people can sign up and then use a random number generator (or whatever you want to use) to select spots.
I’m from Anchorage, Alaska (but a Canadian in my heart having grown up there ❤) I would have loved the cruise. My daughter is getting married June 1st in Alaska so she is priority this year. Please continue to do cruises! The highlight for me this year was meeting you both in Seattle at Folk Fiber Festival! Love you girls so much.
We will stand by for more retreats! A thought for the future? Orcas Island!

Oh my goodness I’ve been watching you both for years and to hear you speak of my hometown Niagara Falls was so exciting! I live five minutes from the Falls. I take it for granted so to hear someone speak about it makes me realize how awesome it is. Glad you had fun!!

Tracie, your in the process test knit sweater (cables and bobbles) is so beautiful. What I love to do is put my body stitches on waste yarn when I’m a few inches below the sleeves divide AND THEN I knit the sleeves. That way I get to have the fun of finishing the entire sweater when the body is done. Also, I love trying it on with finished sleeves in order to know how I want to finish the body (length, etc.). Love you both, thanks for the fun!!
I grew up in Buffalo, NY but did not ride the boat under the falls until I took my daughter back home for a visit OMG I LOVED IT. It is such an awesome experience. I would like to go on a retreat if you go again.

I was lucky enough to get a spot on the cruise - it was a total goof as I was thinking about it and accidentally registered before I'd really made up my mind! For future cruises, how about one of the repositioning ones on the West Coast (Vancouver to SF or LA) and would love to do one with Julie of Cocoknits!

I would love to go on one of your retreats someday. I have 2 quilting cruises next year, so I couldn't go anyway. I hope you do more than one a year. I would love a retreat anywhere that I can knit and be fed! So cruise or land would be fantastic! Love you guys!
Please don't feel bad that so many of us are disappointed. You have over 50,000 subscribers. So it is natural that most of us weren't able to sign up. You did nothing wrong. You two are the Taylor Swift of the yarn universe. The tickets go fast and there will always be those who leave empty handed. First come, first served.

When Jodi mention her being intentional about her day, I thought about my 'pocket full of happiness' I try to acknowledge when I find it in my day. This comes from reading the actor Richard E Grant's book (made me 😢) and now get a bit of a fizz of excitement when I
find and say "there's my 'pocket full of happiness'" for the day. Makes a difference. ❤❤❤

When you fly from Europe (Germany in my case) never take metal needles, not even with a project on. I had half a sock in my purse and they made me take out the dpns and "allowed" me to go back to give them to my mom and then of course magically I was chosen for the pet down. They clearly enjoyed the power play on that one.
Retreat FOMO is real everywhere! I work part time at my LYS and our first retreat sold out so fast that we took those lessons for this time around. I’m so excited for you guys, and I am looking forward to the next time! I am grateful you are prioritizing safety and fun for everyone! Can’t wait to see the pics and hear about the fun ❤😊

Congrats on your successful first knitting retreat. Fall colors in Maine would be so fun but I don't know if they have large cruise ships along the Maine coast. Wouldn't it be great if you could do a knitting retreat on a Canadian Train!! How about a weekend retreat at the Niagra Falls Inn? Class Ideas - yarn substitution with swatches that show differences with different yarn types, Selecting color palettes for fades, stripes, colorwork, no problem repeating the classes from this retreat obviously.

Since I do a lot of sourdough bread baking, I use the “hey, Siri, set a timer for 30 minutes” function on my watch a lot! It’s also great for answering a phone call before you can find your phone.
Jodi…your sweater & tattoos match beautifully!! My fav Apple Watch features are Navigation and the rotating photos as the watch face.
Max's patterns are the best I've ever knitted in terms of fit for men as well, which is so rare in knitting patterns, I feel.
I’m sure everyone’s already told you. But we’re cruising family and I get motion sickness terribly. You can get a prescription for a patch. it’s like transdermal patch, that goes behind your ear. I have not been seasick while using it at all. I forget I have motion sickness at all. And using this patch, I’ve gone into 2 weeklong trips and been fine. Each patch lots about three days. My only suggestion is to put a Band-Aid over the top of it because if you touch your eyes after touching the patch, it’ll dilate your eyes. I found out the hard way. Good luck with your retreat. I wish I could’ve gone. It is definitely on my bucket list to do some other time.
I’m getting an implant for a front top tooth right now. I’m 7 months into the process and I still leave the house more often than not without my tooth! I usually remember before we hit the end of the driveway and I send one of my kids in to ‘grab mom’s tooth’. Can’t wait to get the tooth on the implant!!!
I have the same problem as WheelTrish. I cannot walk far at all. In fact I just had knee replacement surgery to try to get this issue somewhat under control. Meanwhile I’m even less mobile than usual. Honestly if God grants me the ability, I would love to participate in a wheelchair push team to help with other folks needing a push. I mean I can’t push all day but I can help! Let me pay forward what I hope to never need permanently.
There are so many retreats and Fiber shows in the East, Europe, Pacific Northwest, how about those of us in the southwest of the US.
I am disappointed I didn't act fast enough to get on your cruise, but I completely understand. Don't feel bad about not being able to accommodate everyone. I would love a retreat in Portland, Pender Island, a cruise along the west coast, or basically anywhere you want to go! You guys will LOVE Alaska--it is gorgeous! And, it looks like a great itinerary.
Jodi, I love my Apple watch! Apple has free classes that are very helpful to understand how to use it. I have my grandsons' pictures on it, I can answer my phone or texts on it, and if I fall it will notify someone!

Niagara on the lake is amazing! It would be a great place for a knitting retreat! Live about 40 minutes from there. Clifton hill is the tourist area. Not great.

Usually take wooden needles and have flown to both Europe and South America with my needles and project. Have never had a problem.

You should have no problem with sea sickness on an Alaskan cruise because of the land that is on both sides of the ship most of the time the ship doesn’t have as much movement as in open water.
I would love to join you for a retreat and I would be happy with any location or instructors but because I’m a teacher I can only travel in June and July. If this one was one week later I would have been able to make it.
How do you manage your time when you’re swatching and swatching and can’t get gauge, and you know you have every day stuff to do?
