You're the best, 90 percent of tutorials just show how ease works on 2 keyframes... Rarely someone talks about 3 or more keyframes with continuous movement between them. God bless you.
youre a life saver. Ive gone through multiple tutorials and they are either too complicated or they start with a finished project. THANK YOU for starting at the beginning and walking us through.
This is such a great tutorial thanks. I do have a question - if you wanted the arrow to stay in the centre longer but still move slightly how would build the keyframes? Using your technique with one central keyframe doesn't offer enough time so I've tried two keyframes but then I get all this weird motion. I just want it to speed it and slow down to a constant pace then speed back up again but smoothly.
Hey James! That's a really good question that I can't answer unfortunately. Because this is also an issue I always struggle with. When you turn on the 'orient along path', you get those crazy motion glitches when you create extra keyframes. The only way I know how to get around this is to turn off the 'orient along path' and do the rotation manually. I sometimes also use Null Objects for extra movement. So parent the cursor to the null object and give that some position as well. Hope this kinda helps haha! Cheers.
Great tutorial! Thank you! Can I asked how did you do the arrow? Seems like 3d layer because of the gradient of the depth but isnt. Or if you can reupload the project. Sorry for the silly question, im a begginer.
Hey! I've added the project file in the description again. And it's not a silly question, I was also a beginner once :) Quick explanation: It's a 2D layer moving across the screen and it looks 3D because of the gradient in the arrow and the shadow that gets bigger and smaller. If you have any other questions, let me know! :)
@@CampKeyframetutorials Thanks for taking the time to explainme, and so quickly! Meanwhile, I had started to try, and finally managed it. I was wondering about that edge that looks like a extrusion and has a different gradient than the arrow (not yellow to pink but purple to pink). What I did was duplicate the path, move it to look like a bevel, and change the gradient, its work (update: im seeing your project, you did the same :) ) Im a big fan of your tutorials, the other day I did the sled and I learned a looot. Than you so much, really! Greetings from Argentina
Hi @camp keyframe, how did you learn motion design? Did you take an online course, school or are you self taught? Would you consider highlighting this please.
Hey! I learned motion design just by following UA-cam tutorials. I studied graphic design but I soon noticed that I didn't like graphic design in the traditional sense. So I started to look more at illustrations and how I could implement motion in my designs. So that sparked my interest in animation. I then started with Video Copilot to learn about After Effects and looked at more and more UA-cam tutorials (there weren't that many back then, this was in 2011/2012) So what I also did was just to re-create animations I saw online and just tried to copy them. So that way I could try to figure out how to design and animate things. When I look back at when I first started animating, it looks really crappy and I did everything the wrong way. For example, I didn't know I could import Adobe Illustrator files into After Effects so I always saved my artwork as separate PNG files (because they have transparency) So I'm mostly self taught. When I started, there weren't any great animation courses online (that I knew of). Today there are a lot of great ways to learn motion design (Motion design school, school of motion, UA-cam tutorials etc.) Hope this answers your question :) Cheers!
Thanks for your reply, I am from a third world country. Most of the courses that I would consider really helpful are waay above my affordability, So I was just wondering whether I'll ever be good enough learning from youtube alone. However, I think your reply is a great motivation for me. I am more determined to learn.
@@Iamkabera Yeah man, just do what I did and you'll get there :) Camp Keyframe can help you out but also look at other channels like Ben Marriot, ECAbrams, Mt. Mograph, Motion Design School, School Of Motion etc. And just try to re-create animations you like and try to figure how to make them. This is a great way to learn. Also, you can download free animation projects on Holdframe.com. That's a really cool way to learn stuff because you can actually open the After Effects files and see how they made them. And also check out Ordinaryfolk.co. This is an awesome animation studio and they also have free files/project you can download to learn from. Just go for it man! If you ever have any questions about animating, let me know, I'll gladly help you :)

Awesome tuto! When I export it for youtube in Media Encoder my object is not moving smoothly anymore.. what could it be ?
i tried to ease in the keyframes i had for wave speed but the options is not available, any ideas?
Cool Bro!!!
Thanks Jonathan! :)
