@nicks4802 ignoring the fact that you're basically complaining that they didn't make cards with you specifically in mind, Dodrio and Dugtrio don't share a Type so they couldn't be a TT even if they wanted it to happen
The way the Pokemon TCG treats Gardevoir as a Fairy-type first and a Psychic-type second really grinds my gears. That pokemon spent three generations as a pure Psychic-type in the games.
it's kinda surreal. i quit the game in 2019 because of tag teams and i'm just getting back into it now and can see the powercreep fallout of them while being past all the 3-prizers being in format. i'm really happy about where the meta is now and am seriously excited to start competing (though as a 1-prizer connoisseur, i think iron hands should be burned at the stake)

As a casual tcg player at the time, I loved the tag team era before Zacian ADP took over the game. I love how much support so many of the types had, like lightning with thunder mountain, tapu koko prism, ect or fire with welder, heat factory, ect. It made those decks feel super consistent and easy to play as a beginner
i really hope they bring back a reworked version of tag teams. i think they are thematically the best cards ever made. its the only chance we ever really had to make pokemon like psyduck and magikarp playable.
Most definitely. My personal collection has LOADS of tag team cards in it just due to how pretty they look all in one place, especially the alt arts (the base rarities all being by the same artist also helps a lot with cohesion). When played though, yeah it was definitely a dark time for the competitive scene lol.
One cute thing about tag teams is that some of them just have the iconic moves of one of the Pokémon, for example buzzmosa just having jet punch or umbreon darkrai having night spear
can confirm, this meta made me quit, i just came back cus i wanted to try pocket, pocket was so bad and not true tcg that i ended up downloading TCG Live and im still playing.
Way back in the Rocket Era, i had a Rocket Mewtwo/Sabrina's Alakazam deck that only dealt in trainer cards and damage redirection. Only way i could lose, was if all 4 of my Gambles were in my prizes, which were how i reshuffled my hand into my deck not to mill. 15 minute turns, full of coin tosses (irrelevant with coin control toss) and energy drains/gust of winds. I never lost a game. 😂
@@BurtsPTCG I was an M:tG player at first, and a local Gym leader (I was to teach new players, so i decided to teach them how to Card advantage properly). NGL, i was a really cancerous player, but the kids loved how i taught them to win most of the time. And they always had me as back up when grown ups with Charizard/Blaine's Arcanine decks rolled out. Pays off to be a villain sometimes.
Tag teams were exactly what pushed me out of competitive pokemon tcg. I feel vindicated that I wasn't the only one who burnt out fighting the same few decks over and over again.
Even though I was a celesaur player until it rotated and even played it in expanded. I still think Tag Teams were a mistake and never should've been made.
It was quite fun. I was running the tank variant that was popularized by rahul. I did make a change to play Team Rocket's Handiwork instead. The deck functioned as a control style deck. It had Faba Chaining for special energy to Lost Zone them, the deck was able to heal so much per turn. Now, the other variant was a more aggressive attacking variant that played Max Elixir and would look to turbo out energy and get Celesaur swinging as fast as possible. More about the tank variant is that it really only played 3 Celesaur, 4 Shaymin and 1 Sudowoodo with Road Block to prevent benches from going crazy.
Celisaur had more HP than you would realise, the attack from zorark doing 100 dmg in reality doing 40, An attack that would take 3 hits to KO with no healing would instead take 7 hits, so instead of it having 330 hp it'd be more like it having 700 hp in this scenario
Pokémon TCG fans: *are having the worst time of their life due to new cards with crazy gimmicks* 💀 Me: *just likes collecting them because the cool artwork* 😨
I quit 100,000% because a fucking Jolteon with Pin Missle takes off 40 x 4 damage which if you dont do the math that's almost 200 dmg for only 2 crappy energies
Played TCGO from the B/W expansion onwards up until Tag Team dropped, after that most of my decks I had for years got power crept, becoming useless and leaving me with nothing. Recently got into TCG Live and I'm so fucking happy the guys fixed this bs. Always hate when the creators feel they need to top themselves every time creating an inferior product because of it
Garchamp and Giratina are a reference to Cynthia, while machamp and Marshadow have somewhat similar fighting styles, and in gen 8, would be further related to themes of "chi" due to GMax Machamp (I kinda just pulled that second explanation out of thin air)
@@aronspiker72 Yeah...that's a stretch. The only time I can think of Cynthia ever controlling a Giratina is Masters (which happened years after the Tag Team cards). And I have no idea what you're trying to say for the other one.

Venusaur is always winning. Even in Pocket, the only thing that *_can_* OHKO it is Charizard. Nothing else can and you better hope they're only running Erika/Gardenia and Potions, because that pushes Venusaur EX from 190 HP to 330 EHP. Once some more Stage 2 Support is added (Ultraball and/or Pokemon Breeder), Venusaur can possibly get stronger, allowing it to more reliably get Butterfree in play, having the same Heal 20 Power as Shaymin, pushing Venusaur to, EHP 350+.
@@BurtsPTCG No. Not an OHKO. Always a 2-shot. The Zard will always have the advantage, unless it bricks, but you can get it close to a 50/50 every game.
