I have no idea why Koga's Ninja Trick saw no competitive play... I won a couple local tournaments with it and it was great. Denying prizes with fossils was AMAZING.
My lgs actually ran Japanese language pokemon tournaments where you could use the japanese cards if you had the Scryre magazine translation of the card on hand to show your opponent. The day before I played in one I had gotten the Misty starter deck. Misty's Tears made quite an effect on the room lol. Maybe her distracting my opponents was what helped me win that tournament that day.
Do you think Forest of Giant Plants will still be an issue if there were other stadiums for other energy types? I think it could turn into maintaining stadium control for faster evolutions
imo part of the reason they axed fogp is because with it in format, it prevents them from printing really good grass evolving mons (or mons that evolve from grass basics like item lock trevenant) in future sets. we would probably never see another card like vileplume or decidueye GX, which i think would be a shame. and even if they reprinted broken timespace, it would run into the same issue-- once it rotated, standard would have years' worth of weak evolution cards that were designed with it in mind.

I started playing in the GX era, and I remember that the only banned cards I knew of were Wally and Lysandre's Trump Card. I found it fascinating how important the words written on the card were in Wally's case, and for Lysandre I was kinda just surprised they let that happen

It depends on the continuity. In the games, she’s an adult. But in the anime, they made her a child so she could adventure with and be a possible love interest for Ash. The TCG is mainly based on the games, so this was more than likely adult Misty. Regardless, still not a good idea for a card game played by children.

The amulet would ko the Jirachi ex instantly resulting in two prize cards so with only two uses of this and one mismagius your opponent would et stamped mars'd to zero, much easier to get prizes taken via amluet then like 5 uses of mismagius as that would require super rods and discard recycle etc

It's a very old card that's quite busted because it's essentially Counterspell, but with the upside of adding mana to your mana pool equal to the cost of the countered spell on your next turn. Originally, this could potentially harm you if you had no way to spend that extra mana, but nowadays it fades away harmlessly if you just don't spend it.
That professor's cup ruling is fcking dumb... banning a common card because it had a rare printing. So stupid. Mtg has a format where only common cards are allowed, no uncommons, rares, or mythics and the only thing that matters is if the card was ever printed in a common rarity. If a card was printed at mythic rare originally then recieved a common reprint, doesn't matter, it's still legal.
@BurtsPTCG it's up there, it's called Pauper. It's not just a fan format either, it is an official format. Mtg does actual reprinting of cards though, from my understanding pokemon doesnt straight reprint the same exact card down the line, it always seems to be tweaked in some way.
