To me he's so ennoying, he doesn't have and doesn't prepare real questions. He's just waiting for the other guy to do all the taking. Except saying "amazing" all the time, he's useless. Sorry.
Every time Paul is asked about the great guitars built at the PRS factory, he always mentions the 400+ people who work there. I think that says a lot about Paul as a man. Also, in a time when everyone is trying to be as vanilla as possible in terms of their personality to avoid any kind of controversy, I admire the fact that Paul isn't afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve and show us the real person he is. Top man massive respect to him! After Leo, he's probably the person who's had the biggest impact in the world of guitar.
@@GearGasms Exactly that was something I was really impressed with. He really cares and appreciates the people who create the masterpieces that bare his name. Unfortunately I don't think his genius will truly be understood and appreciated until he retires.
@Roe Jogan PRS was closed, along with ALL other non-essential businesses. The point being made is that Paul & Co. paid all their employees while they were sitting at home during the shutdown.. I can’t speak to the the wages at PRS, but obviously there would be entry level jobs, with the opportunity to grow within the company. Most of the top positions held at PRS are men and woman who have been their for 15-35 years. That says a lot about the company…
I work at PRS; it is like being part of a big family. The company takes extremely good care of the employees. Business is good: unlike Fender, we are hiring!
What a thing to be a part of! I’d love to work there, an absolute dream!! I do get to help customers choose which PRS they’d like to buy so at least I’m partly involved, they are incredibly special instruments and we are continually blown away by them after all these years of being a dealer!
I want to personally thank you & everyone at the factory, please pass this along! My first PRS was a pearl white standard hand lettered in gold on the back of the headstock.. even though that guitar was one of a 5 guitar special order for a guitar show, you could tell it had the utmost care taken to build such an amazing instrument!
John is always my favorite to watch do interviews and tours. His enthusiasm is contagious and he always does a great job of letting the person talk. John is more of a guide for where the conversation goes rather than just asking questions
PRS is a different guy and can seem difficult at times, but that’s because he’s a complex serious deep dude. If he rubs you the wrong way stick around for a minute because PRS is right on. A seriously dedicated, hard worker that’s cares about his product and workers for real. PRS is top notch all the way around.
Also, I guess Paul gets very bored to have interview with always the same question. So he likes to goof around and being spicy, giving hard time to his interviewer… it keeps the interview original. But not everybody gets his sense of humour. Let’s not forget he’s been building guitars for 30+ years… and yet he’s still as passionate as he was on his first day. One must be a little crazy to be so ;)

I am always impressed with how much attention to detail and personal touch PRS puts into their guitars. Even the SE line. When a company starts growing from small boutique guitar maker to large scale guitar maker, it’s easy to lose that attention to detail and personal touch. So it’s nice to see they have not lost what got them to this point.
The first perfectly balanced guitar I ever played was a white PRS with bird inlays at West L.A. Music in 1987. I could not believe how perfect everything about that guitar was. I plugged it into a Marshall Jubilee half stack and was blown away by the tone and the smart versatility of the electronics, how perfect the tremolo system was set up, a non-locking system in an era when Floyds dominated. It was all about tone, playability, ergonomics, and a beautiful aesthetic that was all its own. I'm thrilled to see the success of this company over the decades. I've since become a PRS owner. They are the finest guitars on the planet.
Hopefully PRS opens up tours of the factory again soon. Im in Northern Virginia and have been hoping to go up there for years since the pandemic with the hopes of Paul signing one of my 4 PRS guitars.
Paul is certainly a Gentleman and has a sense of humor right up my Alley. I finally bought a Prs guitar. A Silver Sky. I absolutely love the guitar. I’m saving for a McCarty now.
It really is crazy how good the build quality and control is on PRS these days. Every guitar you pull off the rack plays and sounds amazing right away. Especially appreciative of their attention to getting the intonation set right on their guitars. Coming from a les Paul custom to a mccarty 594 hollowbody II was a night and day difference in playability.
Paul Reed Smith is the real deal. Not only is he in the league of guitar maker greats like Leo Fender, he is a pretty good player too. I wish Eddie VanHalen would have worked with him on a signature guitar. John is a great host for these these kinds of videos. He always seems genuinely engaged without being overbearing and allows the guests to shine.
I used to work in a guitar shop and we used to see all the PRS guitars that would come in. I think this was before they had an overseas line, so the ones we were getting were mostly 1300-2000 dollar guitars. I loved everything about them, the body shape, the electronics, the headstocks, all of it, and I always wanted to get one, and still do.
I currently own 3 PRS guitars and they are hands down some of the best guitars I have ever played. Love seeing stuff like this and the process that goes into making these amazing guitars!
I bought a PRS SE Custom 24 Trampas Green because it was the only PRS I could afford at the time. It quickly became my favorite guitar to play. For their bottom of the line guitars the feel of the neck and sound is absolutely amazing.
One of my first guitars was a Whale Blue SE Custom 24. Still love it. It is a great guitar. I have several Core Custom 24 guitars now also, and they are amazing. But I always love picking up that first SE model. It sounds great, feels great, looks great, and the price is such that I don't get that "I should be careful with this" feeling. I can just play it hard and fast and not worry about it. Take it out anywhere and enjoy it. Never feel like I'm missing anything with it.
I had the privilege to visit the PRS factory on my way home from somewhere??? north of Maryland and left the control cover for Paul to sign ON THE INSIDE of the cover so it would not wear off!!! I grew up 54 miles from the factory in Seaford, De. If I was able to work a 40 hour week, I'm on disability the last 12 years, I would want to work at this wonderful place where dreams are made. Great job as always John! You looked like a kid in a candy store at every step of the build process. PRS guitars are my favorite (I have 6 of them) because they are not only beautiful but they feel great in your hands and sound amazing. Truly functional pieces of art!
Great tour of PRS! I couldn’t bond with the PRS line until, the 594 models came out. I now have a Wood library SingleCut semi hollow 594….perfection!!!!
I reluctantly bought an S2 PRS 594 Double Cut from an online dealer without being able to play it first and I was blown away. I have a vintage Gibson and there is a real reason people rave about those guitars mine is like a magic wand. The PRS out of the box was very similar in tonality and overall feel and playability. For the price I was amazed but at any price the guitar is amazing. Pickups have a lot to do with what a good guitar should be and PRS hit it out of the park with their pickups. The whole package really impresses me. Thank you Paul!!
I bought my first PRS 3 months ago. Even as a beginner, i was shocked at the quality of the beast. Blue SE Hollowbody II.. Stunning. Handles like a dream and the fit and finish is ridiculously high. I am already planning on a Core model. Paul is also a straight-up guy and that means a lot to me.
When watching this factory tours (especially because they only show the most high end factories) I am amazed at the sheer volume of guitars that are being made. I can only imagine that the overseas factories make 100x the number of guitars on any given day
I own 30+ guitars. All the classics. My 2003 Emerald Green McCarty (10 Top) will always be one of my faves. It sounds great. Tough as a rock. Looks amazing.
I remember when I was 15 back in 1979 and I walked two flights of stairs to Paul's Work Shop and saw him working on His first guitar prototypes. A Few years later I held one of His very first Production Guitars at a local Music Shop. To this day I wish I could have bought one. PRS Guitars are the Gold Standard of any electric guitar made IMO.
i like how after he sprayed the wood with water, he cleaned up his own mess he left on the table and put the water back. He didn't just leave it for someone else to clean up.
I just added a CE 24 in a flamed maple natural ( unpainted). It is no doubt the most beautiful electric guitar I've owned. The sound too is just crazy good. Thank you PRS & All the dedicated PRS family. I look forward very much to doing the tour someday. These guitars are worth every dollar, and I feel lucky to have them.
Every time I see a tour of Pauls and his employee's factory I'm always impressed! Even more so this time with JB doing the tour! An absolute pleasure brother!! 8) Rock on... --gary
Great job John! I have a 2001 PRS McCarty. After over 20 years of playing this guitar, it is still in top notch playability. I really didn't know much about guitars back when I bought it. I had a Mexican Strat 60's Reissue. There was no UA-cam to watch and learn like today. But I knew PRS was the guitar to get.
I had an initial rough start with an entry level PRS SE standard, and bounced around other brands. I kept coming back to PRS because I just loved the way they felt. I’ve owned a total of 8, currently own 4 with another due to arrive on Friday. They’ve run the spectrum of entry level to CE’s. My CE24 is my number one, and I’ve had fun modding a few SE Customs (some parts myself, most by an experienced Luther). I love the variety of necks (pattern thin, favorite), and the love the tops. Look great, feel great, sound great. Love ‘em.
I’ve had an SE single cut for over 20 years now. Still an absolutely amazing guitar platform. Other than normal guitar maintenance that 2 decades of use will require, the guitar has not undergone any additional or extensive set up work. I still use it for sessions regularly, and would never wish to retire it to a wall hanger, or just keep it for nostalgia’s sake. One day I’d really like to have a genuine single cut. Thanks for the tour footage! I do love me a PRS
PRS was always about its workers. Living in Annapolis in the 1980''s all my high school buddies worked at Paul's tiny shop just off West St in Annapolis. Paul would let each employee build his own guitar and I remember seeing these cool creations.
So they have folks with specific skills for each step in the process. Makes me appreciate a small builder who has all these skill including, in some cases, winding their own pickups.
Hallelujah! I hate the relic thing. Glad there's at least one company not doing this. Murphy Lab, yeah, how about getting consistency on the production line Gibson?
@@ileutur6863 I bought a few guitars that feel "worn in" but don't have the stupid paint scraped off etc. To me, it's all about the neck feel. Rounded over edges etc. That can be done without making it look ridiculous. I don't buy a car with faded fabric and rust, but with comfortable seating.
I used to think some guitars were too expensive and couldnt see the value, but PRS is a different animal althogther, the level of detail and process is so good, also Pauls vision and how he mentioned the staff a lot in the process says a lot about it, plus John always carrys the interview so well
I am still waiting for my silver sky SE and I’ve been waiting since late April but man I am so hyped for it still to this day especially after watching this video and seeing the amount of care and quality control they do after those SE instruments come back to the US
I just got a Core PRS Silver Sky yesterday (as a gift for my son). I am not a strat guy and was not (till yesterday) a PRS guy. That changed by playing it for like 10 min. It is a remerkable guitar. I have not played the SE but as I understand it, the SE is also really really good. I played it next to my MIJ strat (which is a very good example) and the differences are stunning. Again I bought it as a gift, not for me (does not mean I cannot play it!) but will now be paying far closer attention to the PRS models as this one is a remarkable guitar.
Until yesterday I considered PRS guitars to be "silly window dressing". No mas! Those things I now see are quiter functional and make the guitar very plalyable!
Fun! Still don’t own one, but have always wanted one since the first ones appeared in the ‘80s. I have put together a few guitars and I’m fascinated by the whole process. Would love to see it first hand someday.
I own a couple SE models and you can even feel the quality in those compared to similar price range. Couple friends have legit Maryland PRS guitars which I’ve also played. Similar feeling to Gibson which i know people love to hate on these days, but I swear you can just “feel” the quality when you hold and play one. Hard to pin point what it is.
Paul is such a great guy and respects his people. His personality is honest and to the point and I love that. I've always been a fan of PRS since I was a kid and Temonti got his signature model. John is always a gracious host, well done Premier Guitar 💯👍🏼
Ya'll over there at Premier Guitar are great at putting the right host with the right band or company. Thank you for all the content over the years. If this was around when I was teenager it wouldn't have taken me so long to learn about proper gear and tone.
This is so fitting as I just received my first PRS today!! It got delivered this morning and I am still at work😔 I’m so ready to get out of here and go home!!!
I love how PRS guitars play and feel, Some of the best sounding instruments i have ever heard but every time i buy one, I sell it because i just cannot enjoy the thick, sticky clear coat finish. I enjoy playing relic/aged/vos styled guitars. Thin nitro finishes. So the wood can breath and you can feel the actual wood. When i play a PRS it sometimes doesnt even feel like wood to me since the clear coat seems so thick. I hope in the future they start offering a different finish. I hear they have a satin finish line (i think?), Which i have not had a chance to try yet. PLEASE PRS offer a thin nitro or aged finish line.
I had the same problem. Now I own 3 PRS’s with torrified necks. You can get em with satin necks or roasted maple no problem! Just look around at some dealers websites. Rainbow Guitars has a few.
I have a satin s2 standard 22. nice, non sticky finish, and great tone wood...and got it for $1069, new...best deal they had on a quality USA model. I also have 2 se models made in Korea, before the move to Indonesia. they also are top notch quality!
What a great vid! So assuring to see all the QC steps involved; not only for those guitars made in the U.S., but those made in Asia, as well. Top shelf company!
I bought my PRS custom 22 with the dragon pickups for 1600 bucks 20 years ago now it sells for over 4000 bucks and it still looks like new I just polished it and did a thuro cleaning and polishing of the neck n freats it's a fantastic instraments and a good investment I've got 9 guitars and the PRS is the best looking and playing one, my buddies are jealous when I bring it out they all Wana play it so I let them but no belts or buttons if they scratch it they pay thanks Paul your still the man
Thank you Paul & Thank you John. A wonderfully, informative and fun video. Pauls' honesty, passion, integrity and knowledge fills every frame. Best wishes, Ky
Picked up a PRS McCarty the other day. I’m convinced they’re the greatest guitar ever built. I’m talking over custom shop fenders/gibsons, Gretch etc. PRS truly is king of guitars. I wanna know where he came up w the bird inlays. Absolute genius guitar craftsmanship.
My first electric guitar was the Epiphone Genesis 1978. The Same wine color 10 lbs of solid mahogany, rich humbucks. I play one today and will hold up next to any guitar.
Paul i remember ice skating to pier 7 to watch you play, we never met in-person but i remember playing one of your guitars that you made in Annapolis that you had given a friend we both knew ,small 🌎
Such well made guitars by some fantastic people. As much as I want to like them I never played one I would open my wallet to own. I keep trying them maybe I'll find the one that speaks to me.
PRS guitars are fantastically built. Best fretwork and playability. Although some I have had were inherently bright sounding. But when you find one that is perfectly sounding. Hard to put it down.

Super impressive that they quality check all of the SE guitars made overseas before they are sent out. Really like the PRS company values.
You guys have been at it forever, and still have some of the best guitar content on youtube. Always awesome to watch.
Bless the staff. I never could imagine spending my working life in a factory. Hat tip to all of you❤
Every time I see a tour of Pauls and his employee's factory I'm always impressed! Even more so this time with JB doing the tour! An absolute pleasure brother!! 8) Rock on... --gary
If Bolingger is 56 or 55 he looks amazing with great energy for his age.
Passion and doing his dream job I'd say!!!
He is 92
@@MisterTee he is 69.
Yeah I agree
I'm 57 and it isn't THAT OLD. Still feels like I am 30 other than my joints creaking a little more. 🤣
I love my PRS DGT goldtop!
Love ‘em.
my CE24 semi-hollow is my #1...such great guitars
I love a good single cut SE. Often top class imo.
Great interview with Paul!I have a 2010 DGT that I love.
Great tour thanks for sharing all of this everyone. I am proud to own my PRS for sure.
I will be purchasing my first PRS soon. I am greatly blessed to own some great guitars, but a PRS is missing. I LOVE what you guys do
You won't regret it. I have two and they will be with me for life.
dangit even their SE line of guitars is HIGH quality. Fine instruments,
@@svenzia you are absolutely right. They have such high standards for all their line of guitars.
Playing for over 30 years now, and i never had a PRS guitar. After watching this video, i feel like i wanna get one PRS guitar.
Excellent work John. Very comprehensive tour of the PRS operation. Obviously top shelf.
My favorite part of this video is how excited you are taking the tour. I'd be bouncing off the walls too dude 🤘🤘
😎👍💗🇺🇸🎸 LONG LIVE PRS!!!
Relic free since 1985!
Hallelujah! I hate the relic thing. Glad there's at least one company not doing this.
Murphy Lab, yeah, how about getting consistency on the production line Gibson?
@@Scott__C Everyone hates relicing, but everyone loves worn in guitars.
"But its not real"
We do not care. Boomers bled the vintage market dry.
John should be the only one doing any vids on this channel :)
Well that was a very enjoyable and informative hour… thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
As always, Mr. Bohlinger - a fine job on this PRS tour
I forgot to mention I saw him in Lexington, NC for a guitar seminar and got a photo of me and Paul. What a great guy!!!! Bob
The best part of PRS is that the SE and S2 lines make owning a PRS possible to those on a "budget." My S2 Satin 24 is probably my best guitar.
I love the automation and consistency of PRS! I'm purchasing a PRS this year and I know I'm getting something good and not a lemon!
I used to think some guitars were too expensive and couldnt see the value, but PRS is a different animal althogther, the level of detail and process is so good, also Pauls vision and how he mentioned the staff a lot in the process says a lot about it, plus John always carrys the interview so well
Such a great tour. I now know how my 22 10 top was made. Very informative. Thanks John.
Paul is such a nutcase and seems hard to interview sometimes, but god do I love him. Genuinely believe music wouldn’t be the same without him.
Steve jobs is just as eccentric
He strikes me as a very passive aggressive person. I bet he is difficult to deal with on a professional level.
mad genius
a wannabe steve jobs lmao
@@MisterTee yep look at how he treated prodigy lisa x

Pleasure to have a custom 24 1987 in amber. Outstanding instrument.
I fell in love with PRS guitars through Dany from The Warning it was the sound and tone she had and also her custom 24-08 is absolutely stunning
What an education that was. Enjoyed every minute. Thanks Rob.
Paul is such a great guy and respects his people. His personality is honest and to the point and I love that. I've always been a fan of PRS since I was a kid and Temonti got his signature model. John is always a gracious host, well done Premier Guitar 💯👍🏼
I just bought my PRS CE. I almost cried, really happy.
Is it a SE model? I was under the impression that all the American PRS models had incredibly thin finishes
I had the same problem. Now I own 3 PRS’s with torrified necks. You can get em with satin necks or roasted maple no problem! Just look around at some dealers websites. Rainbow Guitars has a few.
@@ShiroiTengu all the ones i checked out where USA 3K-6K models
I have a satin s2 standard 22. nice, non sticky finish, and great tone wood...and got it for $1069, new...best deal they had on a quality USA model. I also have 2 se models made in Korea, before the move to Indonesia. they also are top notch quality!
What a great vid! So assuring to see all the QC steps involved; not only for those guitars made in the U.S., but those made in Asia, as well. Top shelf company!
Just bought my first PRS 24 custom in turquoise 🎸🤩 really informative eye opening factory tour. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
I love Paul, what a character he is. Still never played one of his guitars(Lefthanded) but the qc looks pretty good.
I feel the left handed pain
I love the way Paul plays...
A happy owner of 5 PRS guitars here ....since 30 years now....that's great stuff indeed guys 🙂
I’ve met Paul and Jack several times and have spent literally hours in the factory! Super proud to be a PRS owner!
Pink USA Silver Sky? I see multiple pink bodies!
I freaking love Paul. He's such a great dude. And so is John. By far my favorite interviewer on PG. Oh, and PRS guy for life right here. 🙋♂️
I bought my PRS custom 22 with the dragon pickups for 1600 bucks 20 years ago now it sells for over 4000 bucks and it still looks like new I just polished it and did a thuro cleaning and polishing of the neck n freats it's a fantastic instraments and a good investment I've got 9 guitars and the PRS is the best looking and playing one, my buddies are jealous when I bring it out they all Wana play it so I let them but no belts or buttons if they scratch it they pay thanks Paul your still the man
I am just amazed at all the detail and LOVE involved!
John just consumed a triple espresso shot in a grande Starbucks Komodo Dragon .
This is why I play PRS...once I picked one up it was all but over for my Gibson an fenders..to me these are the best on the planet...pure butter...
Wish I was 20 again I would love to work there..Great channel
Paul i remember ice skating to pier 7 to watch you play, we never met in-person but i remember playing one of your guitars that you made in Annapolis that you had given a friend we both knew ,small 🌎
Thanks for the tour.
I turn the tone down halfway.
