- Here is a summary of my first year classes as a full time nurse practitioner student. I tried to include as much information as I could remember...it was a long year lol. I am starting my second year in a couple of weeks! I hope this provides some insight as to what to expect your first year in the NP program 😊

WHO AM I:
I'm Tania, a nurse practitioner student living and going to school in Ontario Canada. I've been a registered nurse for 7 years. I made this channel because I found that there was a lack of content relating to Canadian NP students on UA-cam so I decided to create this channel not only to document my journey through school but also to provide some helpful information to aspiring NP students 😊
Get to know me • Get to know me 😀 Nurse...
Thank you so much for your videos! Very informative !! We appreciate you so much 💕💕 you go girl !
Thank you for your kind words 😊. I'm so glad to hear you find my videos helpful. Will post more when school starts in September!
Tania, how to do an abdominal assessment or examinations?
Just found your videos and find them very informative. I am wondering, for your first year is it a requirement for your program to go the entire year (ie. the academic year is not just Sept-April), you have to continue through the summer? Or did you choose to do this option to "fast track" so to speak? I live in Ontario and I am currently looking into options post-BScN grad.
I'm glad you're finding the information useful 😊. I wanted something like this before I went into the NP program. As for your question. There is no fast tracking in the NP program. There is a set schedule you have to follow. Either you are full time (2 years) or part time (3 years). With either option you will have 3 semesters: Fall, Winter and Spring. You will only have 1 month off (August). The "fastest" you can be done is as a full time student. They are very strict with following the set program plan. Hope this answers your question 🙂
@@npstudentchronicles3652 thank you so much!
To clarify, is it 3 semesters per year then?
@@livinglikelee yup 3 semesters (fall, winter and spring). Even if there was an accelerated option it would be too much cuz the program is already jam packed especially in the first year. I need my mental sanity 😅
@@npstudentchronicles3652 aha fair enough!
I’m thinking about your mental sanity to only have a 1 month break though per year! I just did that for my BScN and my head is spinning 😵💫 aha
However, congratulations on competing your first year! Looking forward to seeing more videos😀
@@livinglikelee Thank you so much! Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy to help 😊
How to divide your abdomen into sections or regions?
Tania how to divide your abdomen into different sections?
what was your udergrad average/grade
I can't remember the exact number but around an A-...definitely not an A+ 😅
How many people are in your cohort?
About 6 I would say. It's hard to tell cuz a lot of students drop out or go to part time so it doesn't stay consistent. But for sure less than 10.
What led you to choose the NP path? (How about MD or PA)
MD would have taken to long for me and PA is fairly new to Ontario. The NP role allows me to achieve what I want my career goals to be 😊
