  • I'm back answering your most frequently asked questions about the NP program in Ontario (in my kitchen 😅). I've been away for a bit because school has been ++busy. I'm almost done the program (only 1.5 semesters to go) so I thought I would take the time to make this video. Just a reminder that I'm not an academic advisor. I am speaking from my own personal experience. Everyone's journey is different. This is just me sharing and hopefully inspiring the next generation of NPs 😊. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions on what you would like to see in future videos.

    WHO AM I
I'm Tania, a nurse practitioner student living and going to school in Ontario Canada. I've been a registered nurse for 7 years. I made this channel because I found that there was a lack of content relating to Canadian NP students on UA-cam so I decided to create this channel not only to document my journey through school but also to provide some helpful information to aspiring NP students 😊

Hey Tania, amazing content. I wanted to ask if you can share your journey on how did you achieve your diabetic certificate and how you got your 800 hrs for a diabetic certificate? Again good luck with everything you will be an amazing NP :)

Hi! I made a video explaining my journey to become a CDE, you can watch it here ua-cam.com/video/SV4G56PDi2Q/v-deo.html
Basically any type of diabetes work you do as a nurse counts. I worked in general medicine for 7 years so I worked with a lot of diabetics on the floor. There's no need to provide "proof" per say but you need to explain in what capacity you work on diabetes care (insulin administration, DKA pts, hyperglycemia pts, recognizing signs and symptoms of hypoglycemia, discharge diabetes education etc). Hope this answers you question. Thanks for watching! It means a lot that people are finding my information helpful 😊

Hi! I really enjoy your content and I thank you for being so transparent. I was wondering whether your 3.7 GPA was calculated over your last two years or cumulatively ?

It was my cumulative GPA. I like to be transparent as possible because everyone has a different journey and grades shouldn't hold you back from applying. I feel like my references really helped me because I was close with both of them (academic and work references) It only takes one school to say yes ☺

    Is it quadrants or no?

Hi, yes abdominal quadrants: right upper quadrant (RUQ), left upper quadrant (LUQ), right lower quadrants (RLQ) and left lower quadrant (LLQ). Hope this helps 🙂
