2022 BMW M4 Competition vs. R35 Nissan GT-R | Test Drive, Launch Control and Review

- 👋 Have you ever wanted to drive the new 2022 BMW M4 Competition xDrive back to back with an R35 Nissan GTR? Today we do launch control in the M4 and GTR, drive spiritedly on some twisty turns, and find out how family friendly the M4 is compared to a GTR. Your Wife will approve of an M4 since it has big back seats and a massive trunk! The GTR is more of a hard core supercar with a very mechanical raw feeling. The M4 has some similarities but has a bit more refinement and daily driving use for a sportscar. I love how the BMW M4 is a baby version of a Nissan GTR and is a good amount less for total cost. The BMW M4 tops out around $95k while a GTR is closer to $115k. So the M4 is a budget version for sure. Both cars have twin turbo 6 cylinder engines and AWD. I like the DCT in the GTR, but the automatic in the M4 is very responsive too. But has that refinement for daily driving. The horsepower is noticeably less in the M4 and it doesn't quite pull as hard in the top end compared to an R35 GTR. Even driving my GTR on the 13psi map, it rips way faster! Launch control in the GTR is extremely fast at 2.7 seconds! I messed mine up a bit having the clutch capacitors set too low and the car didn't quiet do launch perfect. But I've launched the GTR plenty of times to know! The M4 launch is very good and easy to use. Even tho the M4 Comp xDrive can do 0-60 in 3.4 seconds, I misspoke in the video. It makes a big difference and the GTR is much faster off the line and a roll. Traction is perfect off the line, but towards 40 mph, you can feel the acceleration isn't as much compared to the GTR after 40. Overall the new BMW M4 is fantastic lower cost alternative to a Nissan GTR. Better for daily use and more comfortable and useable. You just lack a bit of that extra performance feel and power. I'd love to own an M4 and do all the mods that I've done to my GTR. Would be a perfect daily driver! We also get our reaction to launch control in both cars. GTR is much more wild and fast, while the 2022 M4 is still pretty quick. But would be nice to be tuned for a bit more power to have the same acceleration as a stock GTR. Love these cars!

It's a lot cheaper for sure to get an awesome sportscar for sure! Just have that same super car feeling tho like a GTR. But so well rounded! Previous is nice too especially since it has the turbo engine too

I like your video/review. However, I must say that although I agree with some of your comments, others I’d have to say, are very biased.
I have owned both. 2014 BE w/ FBO-e85 and a ’22 M4xD Comp. w/RC. And this is my take:
GTR pros: GTR cons:
- The king if tuned beyond FBO e85 - No rear seats space unless you’re
Both are great cars! M4 Comp xDrive seems to be a modern R35 now. With mods it's faster then equally modded GTR. Of course driving my 700 HP GTR was a big difference from a stock M4. But I do plan on buying an M3 in the future and having that as my modern, faster, more practical GTR lol

You have to admit that the M4s quality is far superior to the GTR. Just not on the same level of performance as the GTR.
Reliability quality is probably not as good. GTR is rock solid. Especially being an old car. M4 is still trust tho. The interior quality is much nicer for sure. But the newest GTR is pretty on par with the M4. Just not as nice screens for the dash and gauges

The m3/m4 are 670 whp bolt on cars. I would say the chassis are very close with BMW edging it out on precision.
Yeah the M4 is very precise overall. Would be a fun car to have and see how all the same mods I did on the GTR make

I would have loved to race these. But BMW would probably be very mad if I did something ‘illegal’ with their car. But GTR would smoke it all day! Amazing car tho. GTR still turns heads. It’s even more rare these days so people don’t know what it is

@@BrosFOURRSpeedinteresting.. the numbers are out for the 2022 m4 comp awd as 0-60 in 2.8 and a quarter in 11. Both numbers faster than a stock gtr.
@@TheVariousfilms yes stock for stock the new M4 is faster. However my GTR is FBO E85 with 700 HP. So my GTR is much faster then this M4 🙃
Very interesting! I would Like to know though.. Compared to the M4.. How Sharp is the Turning into the BENDS In the GTR ? Is it more direct? Or equal to THE M4? Suspension Stiffer? I know the M4 is pretty Good and Extreme in this.. I have to know if the GTR is on that Level or even more Extreme Like a PORSCHE GT2 for Example.
I'd say they are very similar. M4 basically is a bit more refined and has newer tech. GTR is still fine for normal driving and long trips. Feels agile in the turns. GTR in comfort suspension is comfortable for sure! M4 is a bit quieter for road noise.

I think this should have been a M5 comp or m8 comp vs the GTR but it was cool to see.
Yeah I guess the M8 would be more on par with the price point. But I was comparing the M4 as a budget version. So it being cheaper was part of the talking points in this vid. THe M8 is like a luxury version of the GTR for the same price.
FYI… M4 comp xdrive is listed 0-60 3.4, however several have done 3.1 seconds so not as much difference as you stated. I will say your GTR does sound amazing! I will stick with

@@964sz There were rumours that it would still have the twin turbo V6, but be a hybrid system.
The R35 is already cancelled for Europe and Australia, but there may be hopes to bring back the GTR to these two areas.

I know you sold your Supra, but how do you feel about Toyota putting a manual transmission in their Supra now? Are you gonna get that or try to get the new Z?
Glad they are putting a manual in it. But I honestly think they only did that since the Z has one. So I feel like they had no plans to do it, but got pressured into it when they saw Nissan unveil it with a manual. I'm still buying the Z tho. I already had the supra, not really interest in buying a duplicate car lol

Do u think that the M550i or an M5 can be a better family friendly car compared to the M4 Competition ? It has better rear seat leg space, more power.. a badass V8 and more luxurious ? and with most of the options both must have a similar price point like about a 100k ?
Yeah that's certainly the next step up if you need the size! The 4 door sedan of that size is a perfect daily. Not as performance oriented like the M3 and M4. But good for a normal car that also is fast and cool!

I like the BMW M4 better, stock vs stock the GTR would probably decimate the BMW on a standing quarter mile race.
The BMW M4 fits me well, if I decide to drive like a dick I would look so good driving the M4. People expect BMW drivers to drive like dicks so don't want to disappoint them all the time.

M4 is a rock solid car for sure. I honestly don't see BMW drivers like that. Only Honda owners seem to drive like idiots around where I live lol
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Same here, most of the BMW drivers in Orlando, FL that I encounter use their turn signals and don't drive fast at all including the BMW M3/M4 drivers.
I see mostly BMW X7 nowadays, must be a really good SUV to daily drive!
I agree with everything she said about depending on what you want but this is a phenomenal comparison. I've said a million times how great your GTR sounds but the way that M4 sounds is bananas! It's like a jazz and hip hop concert! That M4 would look better parked beside the GTR than what the future Z would, just my opinion.
@@kbw.rvwhntr If a person is considering the M4 then chances are they are looking at the M3 as well or they should.
I think the M3 is a better car than the M4, 4 doors and more practical at about the same price. An M5 will cost over $110K USD but will be a lot more roomy on the interior space.
The 400Z is a good car, very nice looking, but not too practical with family, especially if your other car is also a 2 door.
