2022 BMW M4 Competition xDrive Review / Perfection

- Ok, let’s just get this out of the way. The front grille is fine. It is a bold statement and I commend BMW for taking a risk. It is an aggressive and muscular design that looks better in person. So let’s move on and find out what the rest of the BMW M4 is like to drive.
In this Competition trim, the 2022 BMW M4’s S58B inline-6 can produce 503 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque (375 kW & 650 Nm). Like many turbocharged engines, the torque is reached way before the peak power figure at just 2,750 rpms which is then sustained to 5,500 rpms. Peak power is at the 6,250 rpms mark. BMW claims a 0-100 km/h time of 3.5 seconds with the xDrive 4WD and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) with the limiter; 290 km/h (180 mph) without the limiter.
But with 500+ hp, you expect fuel economy to be poor. And it is. In certain areas. The BMW M4 2022 xDrive Competition is rated for 14.6 L/100km (16.1 MPG) in a city and 10.5 L/100km (22.4 MPG) on a highway. City fuel economy is poor as expected but highway fuel economy is pretty good and if you’re gentle with the throttle pedal, you can get it lower than that.
The 2022 BMW M4 Competition with xDrive starts at $94,300 CAD ($82,700 USD). This demo vehicle came equipped to the price of $105,245 CAD ($90,480 USD).

I have a 2022 M4 manual, the same Isle of Man Green and Tartufo brown as this one except that mine has the full leather interior with the lower dash matching the seats, and the moonroof. I took delivery 4-1/2 months ago. I traded in a 2015 F82 M4, also a manual.
My new car is a definite improvement from my 2015. The new S58 engine is a much better match to the 6-speed manual transmission, and I find that the car just has a lot better grip and feels more planted on the road. I love my interior which has a richer look and feel to my 2015 car.
Two thumbs up!! : )
Front grills look great. My 23 has an Xdrive on left rear and has the 50th anniversary BMW emblems. Love the car. Pagan idolatry.
It only looks great if your worldview is hopelessly skewed. You probably believe bacteria morphed into humans over vast eons too, and call it "science"
Great review, you are natural 💯🤘🏻❤️
Thank you! 😊
Great review!
Thanks!
Great review! Where did you shoot the intro shots?
Thanks! It was at a local ski mountain next to Vancouver. Cypress Mountain.
@@MGReviewsBlog I saw that plate and got excited thinking it was in Ontario lol
@@SuperMask7 ahhh, sadly no. A lot of the press cars here in BC are registered in Ontario. I'm assuming it's because that's where their Canadian offices are.
Debieran considerar traducción o relatos en español!!
Traded in my 2021 RS5 Sportback for an X Drive M4 comp, and the difference is absolutely shocking. Makes the Audi feel like a boring old man
Get an RS3

M4 is fast but it's a massive, sanitized boosted to the moon boat. Most drivers are middle aged with a gut and never been near a roadcourse. Suits angry azzholes well
Yes I can afford it just fine before that crap begins
For your money, E53 amg coupe or this M4 competition xdrive?
I'd be walking towards a BMW dealership with my money and getting this M4 Competition.
@MGReviewsBlog that's a HUGE statement.......and the fact that you had extensive time behind the wheel with each , I'm going to lean towards the bimmer .....thanks!!!
I thought the xdrive competition has 523hp?
The 2025 Competition does, but this is an older model.
The grill is absolutely not fine. There must be an after market kit for this by now.
Haha, but it is! When you're driving the car, you can't see it lol. But yes, I'm sure there are some companies out there that have modified versions of this grille.
The front is fine until you put a front plate on it. It then looks ridiculous.
Green beaver beak...aftermarket rushing to fix. Very fast car but kind of sterile to drive from most I've talked to that have owned the car awhile. M2 is more interesting if you can get past funky rear end. RS3 for now
I like the back end of the M2. It's the front that's too boxy for me 😅
The new grills are absolutely hideous and will stop me upgrading my present 2018 m3 .I'm so sad but it's like a kardashion powt
Haha, I know it's not to everyone's liking but I think it's good. not the best though, obviously. My favorite M3 grille is the e46 generation.
I agree, I sold my 2018 M4 and bought an X6. Hoping they redesign the front grille sooner than later. 😅
It’s polarizing - I like it. Aggressive and different.
The green color? 👎👎👎
It's not a colour I would personally order one in but it looks decent.
