Thanks for the detailed video, much appreciated. I’ve had my M3 sniper fac for a month and a half now and have gathered different pellets and slugs for testing. I have noticed, whether coincidence or later time in the evening and wind had died down, that the grouping tightened a lot when the bottle pressure was at first reg pressure and slightly below. It was kind of like a switch. From just over inch grouping to thumbnail grouping at 70 yards. Unfortunately my chronograph stopped working at that point due to light going so couldn’t check speeds. I’m still investigating. At that point the grouping was under 1 inch at 100 yards with what I found to be best (without yet touching the regs) using Air Arms heavy 18g pellets at 950-960fps. Bisley magnums weren’t too bad either at 900fps. Once I have completed initial pellet/slug tests I would like to tune to get the slug speeds up as some are currently well below 900fps. Would you consider doing a tuning video for the M3? I watched your other very detailed tuning video but would also like to see how you did it on the M3. Thanks 👍🏻
It would have to be a sub 12 tuning video, but yes possibly. Without a chrono its hard to tell what was going on but some people have reported very good results running there impacts a little lower than normal especially at the closer ranges, I think Roger Lait has a video on his Impact where he got very good results a little lower down in the FPS ranges. Thanks for watching.
@@sub12airgunners I just thought it was strange that it was when the bottle pressure and first regulator equalised it was a big difference in accuracy. Maybe something you would like to look at as you’re as analytical as myself! Will do more testing with the Chrono and update if necessary. A sub 12 M3 tuning video would be great, especially because how you set out your videos and explain in high detail. Thanks.
Yeah its just raw carbon fiber, the way its made it will never be that accurate, most of the time the internal hole isn't round or straight either, waste of time in my opinion. Thanks for watching.
More questions! Have you tried free floating by removing barrel shroud spacers? I have Dreamline, .177 500mm and after removing spacers, POI moved left 20mm! Worth indexing barrel? If keeping spacers, best positions for them and how to keep them in position. Keep up the good work and saving us money!
Very educative video. Can you please answer me a question? Is it possible to machine an Stx slug liner barrel to fit in a 9015? Do you think if it is possible it will improve the accuracy of a 9015 with slugs? Thanks
Its threaded in, you can get them out but they are usually loctited in so you need to heat the end of the shroud to break the loctite then unscrew it. Thanks for watching.
Hello blogger, could I ask you a question? Some people said that the Fx STX superior barrels label sent from Sweden to the United States is smooth and has no font. I think it should be in a megrel ink-jet font like in your video. Could you help answer the question, thank you
Great info here Jeff, much appreciated Jeff making this vid. Is there any news on the Leshiy 2 bottle valve or the Leshiy 2 plenum plugs please, I’ve been watching you ebay page?
The bottle valves we decided against making and selling them, they work but because I can't pressure test them, and getting them pressure tested isn't economically viable, its just not something I want to risk. Thanks for watching.
@@sub12airgunners Thanks for replying Jeff and I understand fully your reasoning behind not proceeding with the valves. At some point in future would you consider making me one if I fully took the risk, no liability or being held responsible on your side.
Appreciate the time and effort you put in to all these videos ., and your no nonsense approach . Have yo looked at any of the modern S510XS rifles from Air Arms , or are they just too simple and uninteresting from a teardown , experimentation point of view.
Thanks, we have a s400 disassembly and a video of the HFT 500 on the channel, to be honest the air arms stuff is great out the box, but they aren't a really interesting rifle for us, the 400, 410, 500, 510 are basically the same rifle just with very slight changes to them, so its just not really a rifle or series of rifle we are that interested in. Thanks for watching.
Hi I was wondering if you tryd a ceramic coat or something similar to the barrel it self if it would make a impact or difference sense heat and temp seem to be what's causing the change. Ps Good stuff save me a lot of time and questions with sugar coating it.🎯👍👌✌️💯
I have not, it would be fairly hard to implement properly but I believe it may help slightly, although to be honest its still a big compromise, the only way we found to make the barrels a little better overall was filling the barrel tube with epoxy, after a lot of testing the epoxy filled barrel were slightly better overall than the non filled ones, not by much but the POI shift was lessened and the accuracy was ever so slightly better, not sure if it was worth the effort though. The only way to cure the problem is to replace it with a solid barrel, that cures the problem and makes the rifles (in sub 12 at least) much better. Thanks for watching.
Hello Sub12, I'm playing about with one of my rapids again and want to try a similar idea with a standard stx superior liner, I'm wanting to try turning an 80mm brass section going into the block with porting etc the insert the liner into the brass, this would be supported with a modified er16 collet chuck for fixing etc, I'm wondering if there is a particular drill i could use for the brass section to accept the liner?
FX didn't invent or create the first smoth twist barrels, they were created by Ben Taylor from Theoben IIRC. FX were buying them in and eventually bought the patent from Ben.
The history of the barrels was a a little out of the scope of this video, the smooth twist was really only there to show people the difference as we get quite a lot of questions regarding it, Thanks for watching.
Its not a very rigid setup to be honest, it does gain a good amount of stability from the shroud, for sub12 its fine but I imagine in FAC there is a fair amount of whip in the liners. Thanks for watching.
These are way interrsting videos.. Though. The more I watch of these -the less I want an FX air rifle..🤣 ..Pretty odd to hear "you might get a good one - or you might get a bad one" when talking FX - and their prices..😁😁 I've been wanting an FX Impact mk2 for a few years - until probably now..😁🤣 I spend way too much time screwing on my Sig Virtus PCP already - but that one is way cheaper, in case I'd eff something really badly up.😁 ..Gonna probably watch more FX videos, mainly for the interest though. A very good channel btw!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks much appreciated, we see tones of the rifles at the ranges we visit, so we get a good idea of the quality and FX rifles on the whole are good, but there are bad ones out there, I just thought it was necessary for me to mention it. Thanks for watching.
Very well informed. I need a 500 mm. 22 superior liner housing with dual transfer port and a barrel nut for fx streamline as this will fit my modified airgun. I hv the superior heavy liner. Don't need the Pellet prob What will be the price? .How to get in touch with you? Riz. Email?

Another great video. Any ideas on how to fix POI shift with FX barrels?
Very well educated man. Thank you for all of the informative videos.

Great video 👍🏻!! Appreciate your knowledge and explanation of your trial and error findings!! Keep up the good work!!

I've bought six CF barrel liners. All were non concentric. Some worse than others. From .27mm to .13mm difference off-center.

Hi, Very informative, do you have any comparisons to a lother walther barrel..
Good information.I am going to try to glue a liner in a carbon tube and implant it in a non FX airgun.
Great idea
Can the shroud be disassembled as my jam nut is stuck in it.

we have tried most combo's and it seems to vary on each gun on my dream tac i have one 25mm from the end of the liner and that seems to be best
@@sub12airgunners Thanks Jeff, I will experiment! Gives me an excuse to throw some more lead down range.

you could i would think, but the 9015 hp is only a 12 lbft gun which is not good for slugs imo
Do you think accuracy goes off due to the flimsy barrel construction? When hunting my HW100 gets lots of bumps.
On the superlight shroud how is the fixed end cap fixed. Is it threaded or just knocked in? I'm asking because I'd like to shorten it. Thanks 👍
Its threaded in, you can get them out but they are usually loctited in so you need to heat the end of the shroud to break the loctite then unscrew it. Thanks for watching.

I just purchased an fx impact Mark II with a 30 caliber barrel. Did it come with the STX Barrel
yes that will have a stx barrel
the stx started in the later mk1 impacts so only the very early mk1 impacts will have the smooth twist barrels
