It really would have been better if we could have gone together, but I couldn’t make it work. I thought I wanted you to forget everything and go forward…knowing you, you’ll be okay. You’ll realize your loneliness, and surely remember me.
I believe that you’ll grow strong and read this letter. I wish we could have made more memories. I’m sorry. When you were little you probably didn’t understand well, but now you should.

It's been sooo many years last I listened to/watched that. It was so sad. And now it brings back all the sad emotions I felt when I first watched it. Truly a sad story.
I think what kills me inside is when she is slowly coming to the realization these are memories being replayed. What I would give to go back and watch some of the fonder memories in my life is everything. It’s that we don’t realize how great memories are until they’re gone and past when we’re in our older age coming to this realization.
Even though I've seen it before I must be emotional watching this right after waking up because I cried.
I'm always left in tears when I watch this one. Though I always took it that she had received a message from someone else at the end, at least that's what I thought happened...

PLEASE check out more Porter, his music saved me and I’m sure many others. I would recommend you start with his album Worlds and then explore Nurture. There’s a beautiful dichotomy between escapism and fiction in Worlds and learning to live in and love the now in nurture. You can really see his growth between the two albums as an artist but especially as a human. It hits deep
you always pay attention to the lyrics, which is why i believe you should check out some of porter robsinson's other works. Not all of music has a flashy animated music video, but all of his music has lines that will rip you asunder. I'd say check out anything from his nurture album which is his magnum opus, or his worlds album from way back when which I haven't listened to much of but I've heard it's amazing as well.
Nurture is about the creative process, support from peers, and coping with the distant future, and his style has grown to be very experimental and beautiful, using rather anime sounds mixed with glitches and an oldschool windows XP aesthetic. it's quite something to behold, and I recommend any of them, but if you want another flashy anime music video, go for Musician first :)

As far as the lore goes, in the end where youll see Rin in the spaceship, you can see in the Holographic UIs in the background some kind of solar system and a line which is assumed to be rin's spaceship pathway route, and its like its going to a known nearby colonized habitable planet.
This video never fails to wreck me. It came out when I'd lost someone very important to me and it just triggers those feelings. Incredible video and song.

Heartbreaking? Naah. That's cruel and unusual. Give me front row seats for the event, if the species is dying out. Don't make me some weird living statue memento of our existence, kept alive indefinitely, always alone in a fictional world. Forget that. I want to go with the rest of us.
