And the best part is, this video was made before the latest entry in the series was released.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is INSANE when it comes to Lore, please check it out!!
Commenting to boost this! Maybe she could even play it herself, if she has the console for it? It’s pretty neat!
@@0rchidMourner cheers friend, seeing weeby tackle Forgotten Land herself would be amazing
@@0rchidMournershe does have a Switch. She's even currently playing Rain Code (the new game by the Danganronpa devs) that is currently only out on Switch.
Boosting this! Forgotten Land would be a fun series to see Weeby play
Also RtD Deluxe confirming the AUs are directly connected to the main timeline.
Something the video doesn't talk about with Sectonia, 27:30 the translation is meant to be in the first person. So Sectonia herself is asking Kirby to do a suicide by cop.
As a Kirby fan, I didn’t know that… so Sectonia was asking for Kirby to kill her, or was it Sectonia was asking for Kirby to kill themself?? Sorry if I’m not understanding this correctly- (also what’s cop)
@@hellotheredcop as in police officer. And it's Sectonia asking Kirby to kill her not themself
I believe he talks about that fact in the second video.
@@skylerwoods7392 I watched it, it’s just it’s been a while and my memory is horrible 😓
Thats' not murder, that's assisted suicide.
16:38 "dude, how many band-aids has this guy used to revive from the dead?"
Zero 35 slapping on another band-aid and reviving as Zero 36: *"Fool, don't you realize? Walmart sells them in 100 PACKS!"*
this genuinely made me snort. (in laughter)
@@niftyskybluesame
As a Kirby fanatic, watching people learn about the crazy lore of the series is a fun and potentially sadistic pastime of mine 🙂
Agreed.
I'm with you on that
It sounds like we are on the same boat!
BEST PASTTIME EVER.
@@Ditto-Guy should we make a playlist?
The guy who made this made a follow-up to address some inaccuracies (Susie did not, in fact, continue mechanizing planets; it was a mistranslation, and instead, she uses her father's wealth and assets to help as many people as she can) and add new lore details from games released after the first video. Highly recommend.
She kinda already discovered in the video, looking for meaning of mechanizing. So the translation is kinda right but not clear about it.
Also Marx didn't change for the better. In the original Japanese pause screen it said that he only helped Kirby because Void Termina was so big of a threat to ignore.
void termina is basically kirby, but you know, evil / worse
@@SintaxError2
This was a stupid change in her pause menu and as a HUGE Kirby fan I hate it……
@@SintaxError2so he's an anti hero
I find it funny how you and Nico both had a similar disturbed reaction to the whole “Haltmann’s distorted screams of pain” part
I watch ALL kirby lore reactions, no wonder I got some “deja vu” from that scene lol
The Kirby franchise has exactly two settings: adorable platforming romp, and straight-up cosmic horror. There is basically no in-between, and most games usually have an abrupt moment where they switch from one to the other with no explanation.
i wonder how a kirby movie would work then
@@arandomthingintheabyss2062 it would have a parent caution advice at the beginning, the first like 50 minutes of the movie would be sunshine and rainbows but the last part would be a straight up cosmic horror
@@carso1500 yep that sounds like kirby
Marx soul’s scream is STILL fucking horrific
There's four things I wanna clarify about that video:
1. In Kirby's Adventure, Nightmare was trapped in the Star Rod & King DDD broke it into multiple pieces. He gave all but one to his most trusted lackeys (he kept one for himself) in order to ensure Nightmare can't cause havoc. However, the Star Rod is the power source of the Fountain of Dreams, which enables the citizens of Dream Land to have pleasant dreams. Kirby, thinking that King DDD was up to no good, reassembles the Star Rod & puts it back in its rightful place. This, however, allows Nightmare to be unleashed, but Kirby thankfully defeated them.
2. Susie's Guest Star pause description is an example of Kirby translations, especially for the more recent games, being horribly inaccurate. In the JP version, it states that Susie utilizes the company's technology to improve lives. While she uses word "savages," she's likely referring to the antagonists of Star Allies.
3. The mention of Zan's attempt to unalive herself in the pause screen was MUCH more obvious in the JP version. On a somewhat related note, the JP version of Soul of Sectonia's pause screen lore (the one that mentions her getting her "eternal beauty sleep") was in 1st pov, meaning that she was begging Kirby to kill her.
4. The whole King DDD being the punching bag of the series is referring to the fact that he gets possessed by the main antagonist of a lot of games.
I never knee the first thing so thx for that :D
He actually has a second video that you absolutely should check out!
Kirby lore is especially fascinating when you consider that all of this dark stuff usually isn't up front. It's all tucked away in bonus modes and hidden in pause screen descriptions.
I don't recommend the second video because he resorts to a large amount of asumptions that don't add up.
@@massgunner4152 Yeah, only the first part about the mistranslations of the english version (Suzie mechanizing planets) is good, the lore-telling turn into game theory way too fast in the second part.
i mean, kind of but hal has been getting more brave with putting the lore front and center
I love how Kirby is just this cute pink puffball, and his lore is that he’s a reincarnated god of happiness.
He’s a god dreaming he’s a man. The one eldrtich monster who actually likes the little sentient things of meat.
kirby is the friend, no not a friend THE friend
To be fair that theory is not very accurate when you look at the facts. The game says that void is very impressionable based on emotions so the likeliest outcome is that it just imprinted on kirby and that’s why it starts to copy him, and why the game says that it might come back as a friend. So Kirby’s origin is still ultimately unknown, though he’s likely the same species as meta knight and possibly galacta knight
Ah people learning about the cosmic horrors that make up Kirby!
Yes, indeed yes, indeed
Kirby IS a cosmic horror lol
Ah my favorite part about being a life long Kirby fan watching everyone one learned the true horrors of the lore. A beautiful sight lol
kirby lore is scarier than monokuma's killing game. junko could never girlboss the way that dark matter serves.
Omg Junko was possessed by dark matter, slay
And Sayaka shares a VA with Kirby
@@ladyholiday3863 what, how? Kirby dosent talk
@@dnidaz2553 he does puyoh though
Makoto is the embodiment of pure positive energy confirmed
So to clarify about Galacta Knight, he does canonically exist because this video was made before the previous game because his power exists in the main story of that game.
Not to mention how now Super Kirby Clash is officially canon thanks to Magolor Epilogue.
Yeah the whole Aeon Hero thing.
@@starstruxtion i think all "non canon"games are likely canon, or at lest they are likely planning to do so in the future, maybe hinting at a kirby multiverse
@@carso1500 They are canon, since they are official pieces of media that are set in the same universe; they're just not part of the main continuity, and are treated as "this _could_ happen if something in the main story had gone differently".
31:00 & 35:28 Susie & Haltmann’s dynamic here is so tragic. She wanted to save him, but what she did was tantamount to cutting the power on your computer while in the middle of saving a game. In this case, the data you risk corrupting or losing is your own personality and memories. Haltmann’s mind was essentially eroded in a matter of seconds…
“I sure hope he survives unlike the insect lady”
She said right before being informed his soul was absorbed by a machine.
Fun fact Kirby never dies in any of his game over screens, he instead gives up and goes to sleep, except for in a single Kirby game. Mass Attack where the Kirby universe's god of death ambushes Kirby but couldn't fully kill him instead splitting him into many smaller Kirbys that can die in a pikminesqe way. Since then he can turn into a ghost. But yeah Kirby is so sturdy he cannot be killed even by the god of death and your best bet at beating him is making him give up and go take a nap instead.
Even then his defeat is exstremely temporary.
Always love the part about Haltman distorted screams in the final phase of the true arena star dream fight. Such a cool but disturbing detail to include.
Considering its a game targted fir kids, tho sane could be said about Dreamland 3 where you literally rip out Zero's Eyeball with all the gore actually being shown, remember its a KIDS game, abd thats what makes this so funny in the first place
43:25 this actually is very useful, because it’s usually read from the EN translation that susie is just doing the exact same thing as before (turning planets into mecha, etc), and so it’s generally considered a mistranslation. in the original JP translation, i think it does land much closer to the definition you found. but maybe it’s just been misread all along…
She saying Kirby Lore can’t be that disturbing made me laugh out loud😂😂😂😂
Kirby seems really wholesome... at first, but as you go deeper into the lore, it gets really dark and depressing
@@michaelkowal3230its only depressing if kirby is not there. Kirby is an outer entity, but he, unlike others who are uncaring or malevolent, is mostly benevolent. Kirby is the super natural power of friendship itself.
@@mlpfanboy1701 I think you misunderstood, I said Kirby as in the franchise
I think people are sleeping on another video essay about Kirby named "The Lore of Kirby -- Designing For Friendship" it delves a bit less into the lore, but does it in a more dramatic way, and also explains his perspective on what Kirby is about, and I think is a very expertly crafted video.
39:32 Your reaction to that part of the video did not disappoint Weeby. XD
I had a field day with her reactions
As a proud fan of the Kirby Community I'm always in love with everyone's reaction to the deep and dark lore of this cute and harmless seeming franchise that have a freak show of final boss fights
I love how disturbed the Kirby lore can be.
Her reaction to the entire section on Max Haltmann was basically "WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU TORTURING THIS POOR MAN?!"
Also, I never expected the words "Haltmann stan" to ever be a thing.
@@georgspielberger9780 As a fellow Kirby fan, I second this.
@@TheVoicesOfTheBeyond Your username is telling me that you had that exact process when learning about the Kirby Lore
And who can blame you?
There's a sequel video to this that clears up some lore from the previous games that was lost in translation and covers the lore of the most recent main line game, Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
22:54 to be fair he had to fight his way out of super hell as a way to redeem himself lo
39:53 Haltmann actually successfully took down just about every planet he hit
2:39 I mean to be fair, Kirby didn't KNOW he'd be releasing a nightmare demon...He thought Dedede had stolen the Star Rod for selfish reasons (which was fair given his past) rather than trying to prevent the demon from appearing, and was just putting the relic back where it belonged...not knowing that said demon would be subsequently summoned.
As a Kirby fan, you're not ready.
I find it funny that Kirby has this dark and horror filled lore but it’s still a game made for all ages to enjoy with a cute pink baby star
_The children must learn._
“Fairy tales do not tell children dragons exist. Children already know the dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed.” G.K. Chesterton
To those confused about this quote, Chesterton is saying kids already know evils exist, what it is telling them is evil can be beaten. Same thing here.
@@mlpfanboy1701That quote should have been a lot better, though. Dragons don't actually exist and children don't know they exist, they just imagine them existing for fun and games.
20:16 Don’t worry. The baby dragons *are* actually okay.
Oh yeah, to clarify, magolor does die, but due to magic stuff and dimensional portals, he goes to Super Hell and repents for his doings. Eventually coming back tothe world of the living after some confusing, oddly religious stuff.
Yep. Yggdrasil freaking attacks him
Nico’s attempts to warn Weeby about the lore have fallen on deaf ears.
Weeby: **Crying and surprised through the whole thing**
The average kirby fan watching: "Such nice lore😁"
I like how everytime she calls the novas evil, he literally says not even a moment later “the peaceful machines” or “the machines meant for good”
22:34 the Master Crown is really disturbing. Magolor essentially tapped out after he was defeated while wearing it, but the crown took over as his started to go unconscious, basically using his body as a puppet when he was already wiped out. That’s like being rag-dolled when you already feel ready to collapse from a long day, and you’ve no control when you get to finally rest.
As a Kirby fan, I love seeing reactions to all the lore. It really is crazy to see it, even as a fan. I'm really enjoying your reaction videos!
The beautiful thing about Kirby is that, while his world remains endlessly fascinating and deep, he’s a simple creature that leads a simple life.
I swear every time I find a game series (that could be considered for a younger audience) that I enjoy it always turns out to have dark lore not saying that a bad thing or anything I just find it weird(Kirby, Splatoon, and Cookie Run in particular if anyone wondering)
Beginning of the video: “It’s Kirby! How dark could it be?”
Middle of the video: “Why is everything so sad!?”
End of video: “F*cking BUTTERFLY!!!”
Ah yes the world of Kirby lore! Welcome Webby! To some of the most insane lore in a video game
Ah yes the scale of “awe it’s so cute” and “oh my god it’s horrible” that unites all Kirby fans
The Rpg Monger actually has another video on Kirby lore that covers games that came out after this video got made. And clarifies some stuff too. You should probably watch it
27:52 "And her body's going to decay."
Bold of you to assume that Kirby would ever leave a body. lol
Morpho knight actually comes back in Forgotten land and absorbs their main bad guy to fight kirby
9:05 more like... "HEY! EVERYONE! STOP LOUNGING AROUND DOING NOTHING! GET OFF YOUR COUCHES AND DO EXERCISE!"
It's really interesting to see how Planet Robobot was the most devastating part of the video because it's the only game I haven't played. Also Kirby and the Forgotten Land was released after this video, so we already know what's the deal with the butterfly and... a lot more complicate stuff.
I've been a Kirby fan since 2014, Triple Deluxe for the 3ds was my first Kirby game, and it's probably my favorite after replaying it again. The main appeal of the lore to me was that it's so fascinating with alot of care put into the finer details, and yet around 80% of it is optional and often locked in the extra modes. Heck in that way the lore is alot like the gameplay, you can choose just a surface level with the main game where the main story often tends to be "Bad guy wants to do bad guy things, go stop them", or do all of the extra stuff that also just so happens to contain the more backstory heavy details. If I had to recommend a Kirby game to play Kirby Superstar Ultra for the DS, it to me is the "definitive" Kirby package, because it's a remake of Kirby Superstar for the SNES, one of the last projects creator of the series Masahiro Sakurai (who you may know as the creator of Smash Bros) actually made himself, so already it earns brownie points for Ultra being an even better version of what was already often seen as "the definitive package". Either way, have a great day if you see this comment ^w^
P.S unless you plan on playing The Forgotten Land on Switch, you might wanna check out RPG Monger's follow up video that released after Forgotten Land, he adresses, well, the new lore from that game, aswell as any mistakes he made in the original video
Why are the boss death animations so brutal in Triple Deluxe?
27:49 fun fact, in the Japanese version, this is actually said in first person in Sectonia’s pov, meaning that even she knows she can’t be saved
39:29 Another fun fact, in this fight it turns out that Haltmann’s soul itself was prevent Star Dream from unleashing its full strength so it forced Kirby to permakill Haltmann first, then the endgame fight began. That was why destroying those mechanisms caused Haltmann to scream, because you were destroying Haltmann’s digitized soul bit by bit
While not connected to any lore, another great example of the sheer cosmic horror of the _Kirby_ series comes from _Mass Attack._ In that one, the main villain is named Necrodeus, which literally translates to *"death god".* Instead of concocting some scheme in the background that leads Kirby running to stop him, he instead blindsides Kirby, both crippling Kirby's power as well as leaving him on death's door. In fact, the only reason why Kirby is even alive is because _you, the player,_ literally intervened to help Kirby out before he went to that big Milky Way Wishes in the sky.
*FOR KIDS!* :D
(It's also revealed in _Mass Attack_ that Daroach and the Squeak Squad decided it was in their best interest to ally themselves with Kirby. Wise move.)
There is a second video he made about Kirby lore which is more focussed on a more recent Kirby game called "Kirby and the forgotten land" and he also corrects some mistakes he made on his first Kirby lore video.
Finally weeby gets to know about Kirby lore. Good luck Weeby
Petition for Weeby to stream Kirby & the Forgotten land so she can get closure on the wild ride that is Kirby lore xD
(But seriously, it's a really good game!! I'd love to see your reactions to those new developments, as this lore video was made prior to Forgotten Lands release! I also just think it'd be a great wholesome stream where nothing bad happens! 😊)
Either that or Kirby Return to Dreamland Deluxe for the _Magolor Epilogue._ Of course, she would have to be a bit familiar with _Super Clash_ before that...
Veto on that! She’ll pause every five seconds to give endless commentary of everything!
OMG! WEEBY AND KIRBY? this video is a DREAM come true! you should try a Kirby game, they lure people in with the easy difficulty but completing it is a challenge, like understanding the lore, the focal points of the first games are the true final bosses and bad endings you can get if you don't pick up some collectibles... Like, a lot of children got the bad ending without even knowing when first playing.
22:08 The funny thing is: Landia (the dragon) DID actually just pass out, because they help Kirby pursue Magolor right after he betrays him (In-game you ride them in a 2D-shooter-section), and Magolor DID get sent to the Shadow Realm, as seen in Return to Dream Land's remake on Switch, where he gets an entire Epilogue-mode where you play as Magolor after his defeat, trying to get out of the Shadow Realm.
You really need to check out the follow up part of this video being “Attempting to Explain More Kirby Lore in a Single Video.” Seriously, it ties up a bunch of loose ends here.
Also technically not lore but neat trivia: Kirby share’s the same VA as Sayaka Maizono’s japanese VA
I have to mention Lyn here
the funniest part is that the dragons (Landia) actually didn't die and actually did pass out
aaahh watching people understanding kirby lore and realising it's awesome and dark has gotta be one of my favorite thing to watch on youtube.
Havent watched the full video yet, but since weeby seems to like the hamster (Rick), i feel oblidged to tell everyone that he has an Australian accent in the anime (specifically the 4kids dub)
You're welcome :>
40:32 I'd say Susie is more so focused on the current situation and is unable to process the fact of her father being dead in the moment. Aka. She is just waiting for this universe threatening crisis to end before she can mourn
Oh boy, another innocent soul getting sucked into the deep rabbit hole that is Kirby's lore
After seeing NicoB & Weeby's reactions... it might be time to introduce some of my friends to Kirby lore.
Just gotta love how you see a butterfly in a Kirby game, and Hal's like "Haha, yeah, that's the Kirby equivalent of the Grim Reaper."
I highly recommend the WoolieVS vids on Kirby lore for anyone who hasn't seen them. They're truly fantastic.
Susie's thing was mistranslated so that implies her doing what Haltmann did to Popstar, when in reality what Susie wants is to carry on the legacy of her father that she remembers, running an intergalactic robotics company and helping people
Persona fans seeing a butterfly: “Oh look, it’s God”
Kirby fans seeing a butterfly: “OH FRICK! IT’S GOD!!”
Btw. In Japan butterflies represent "Rebirth" so it makes sense that Galacta Knight was reborn as Morpho Knight through a magical butterfly. Lol
Yeah. When we tell people that this pink bubblegum orb is a god of destruction and has lore darker than a Lovecraft novel, people never believe us
20:24 - The Landia dragons lived, they were good as new after a couple of minutes tops. You even ride them into the final battle.
Really awesome reaction. Always love to see people watch this lore vid with how crazy it gets. XD
Highly recommend reacting to the continuation, Attempting to Explain More Kirby Lore in a Single Video as it's gets even better. That and it adds a lot of context in some aspects of the lore not mentioned in the previous one.
You survived Kirby Lore, now react to Adventure Time lore. Its even darker somehow.
Absolutely loved this! I’ve been a long time Kirby fan, so I was super excited to see you react to this!
The video you saw covers the lore up to Star Allies, and it doesn’t include the most recent games, Forgotten Land and RTDL Deluxe, so it’d be cool to see you react to the lore of those games too!
It's even crazier when u know that Kirby is as small if not smaller than a ball😭
34:55 Even worse. His soul is destroyed. Like, his very essence. Gone. He is the dead-est you can ever be.
Weeby’s reaction to Kirby lore is just hilarious as it just gets darker and obscure. I hope she also reacts to the lore of the newer games like forgotten land and magalor’s epilogue!
My favorite bit of the Void fight is that it plays the chip-tune version of Green Greens during the fight, which really leans into the whole "Void = Kirby" theory, and also plays with the idea that maybe defeating Void will give it a shot at starting over as Kirby from the original first Kirby game.
Caution: Do not expose unassuming person to a pure, condensed form of Kirby lore that was pieced together from many entries of the games.
Welcome to the Kirby fandom! I love seeing new -sacrifices- fan’s reactions to the lore!
Now she must see Hollow Knight Lore
35:30 Literally everyone when a cute kid’s game has SOUL-SUCKING COMPUTERS
3:05 "kind of a creepy looking character for what you expect in a Kirby game" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OH GEE WHIZ THAT'S A GOOD ONE
Ah, regarding the dragon Landia, he's fine, he was just passed out. And as for Sectonia, newly translated lore shows she didn't merely transform herself into a more beautiful form - she arguably possessed the bodies of others that she found to be more beautiful than her, which is even more messed up. Also sadly, after Star Dream was destroyed for good, Haltmann's soul couldn't really be put to rest, since... well, it was deleted for good too. He ceased to exist in both body and spirit, sadly. The whole story surrouding him is probably the most tragic in this whole series.
And yeah, Kirby coming from Void Termina makes sense too, as while Dark Matter and Zero represent a void of emotions, Kirby's only void is his stomach. Morpho Knight tho... From what we've seen, I think he's kind of the Grim Reaper of this world. As a butterfly, he lands on top of people who are either on the brink of death (he usually lands on Kirby when he's unconscious after a big battle, and he always wakes up afterwards, tho this is just a theory), on troubled souls that are tired of living (Galacta Knight, probably) or any soul that's desperate enough to keep clawing away at life. He especially messes with powerful entities, and depending on its judgement, he leaves them be, or absorbs their powers to become Morpho Knight.
Has anybody else noticed how Magolor's name is just "Mage O Lor" or "Mage of Lor"? And with Lor meaning "Paradise" that would mean he is a "Mage of Paradise" which makes sense, as he built a whole carnival with games and stuff!
1:44 the famous last words.
Kirby wasn't actually trying to release the demon, he assumed dedede was the bad guy causing trouble and ended up accidentally releasing the demon by returning an artifact that dedede stole (from what I remember anyway)
I'm really glad you went to Rpgmonger's video first. He's really good at explaining and getting straight to the point and actually understanding what's happening rather than bits and pieces where you go "What?! But-".
In Weeby's channel, you have like a 95% chance to meet an adorable otherwordly mascot character who's secretly a killing machine, a powerful god , thitsty for blood and pain or all in one in the videos.
I remember when Sephiroth got into Smash Ultimate the big joke in the fandom was that Sephiroth is utterly terrified of Kirby and believes Kirby is the Great Void Jenova was so worried about.
You know what’s even funnier, Weeby? Us Kirby fans are missing more than half of the lore…
Love the schadenfreude of people going from "Aw... It can't be that bad!" to "WTF! I heard that it's bad, but this is *so* much worse!" when it comes to Kirby lore.
That feeling when that butterfly...is basically the Kirby world equivalent of the grim reaper, as it has been stated that it likes to take the souls of those about to die...😅
Kirby games are very fun, very wholesome, indeed...
Well there is also the Leader of the Skull gang in Mass attack who is also kinda a sorta King of death or something like that, also he created the Amazing mirror as far as i heard
No surprise that it follows Kirby around, then
As a Kirby fan, seeing more people react to Kirby Lore is pretty cool!
"I'm rooting for them." Famous last words before hearing about how haltmann effing turbo dies.
8:40 The worst thing is, Meta Knight was kinda right with his idea of making the citizens less lazy considering how many times the planet gets invaded later on.
I wasnt expecting this, youre one of my fav UA-camrs and kirby os my favorite thing in the world-
Don't worry about Landia (the dragons) in Kirby's Return to Dreamland, they didn't die as they allowed Kirby and his allies to chase down Magalor
“Hes so cute how can his lore be disturbing” Famous last words
TFW you wanted to play a pink puffball game but instead you get multiverse-level plotlines and final fights against godly or hideous entities
one of my favorite genres of video, people reacting to kirby lore
20:41 They are actually passed out, they wake up and help Kirby fight Magolor
Also, Kirby’s a toddler. He hardly has any idea what’s going on.
Kirby is of a positive charge of the same dark matter that created those of dark matter
The video is out of date now since we have Forgotten Land (that brings its own huge package of lore) and the new epilogue mode in the Return to Dream Land remake that focuses on Magolor and how he became a good boy.
The Haltmann family names were changed from Japanese
Max Profitt Haltmann was "Gains Income Haltmann" while
Susanna Patrya Haltmann was "Suzanna Familia Haltmann"
