Happily Blue Note just had a one day 30% off sale and I picked up six more of these at just over $17 each. I now have all the 80 series that I want. Bring on the Classics!

Blue Note just had that nice sale on the Blue Note 80s which cost me a little bit of money. I don’t plan on having them all though lol. So field was one I did order. There are so many, glad you can keep up Michael. Steve
Michael those are all great titles I still need to pick up that Joe Henderson In and Out and Art Taylor delight a lot of the others I have liberty or Originals . The Classic Series in December I know I’m going to buy some of them to do comparisons . Blue note 80 titles were awesome very happy with the sound quality great stuff Michael.
Guten Abend. I just finished listening to "Ethiopian Knights" about 2 hours ago, the title of the album for some reason never appealed to me but I found it extremely cheap a month ago so I picked it up. I should have known it would be great but I actually think it is one of my favourite Donald Byrd albums now that I have listened to it, it's certainly one of his best. Mine is a standard press and since I don't have decent equipment to play my music on I don't concern myself with sound quality too much but with regards to the musical content "Ethiopian Knights" is certainly a fantastic listen. I love your channel man it's fascinating for a guy like me to see these amazing editions and have you explain them, thanks for the time you spend making these videos I look forward to them very much!
I've not had any issues with the BN80's - I have maybe 10-12 of them. Also have a similar number of Tone Poets which have been a bit hit and miss with quite a few pressing issues. Managed to exchange most of the duds, but eventually got fed up and stopped buying them.
@@Michael45RPM no worries! It's just a sort of nickname for someone here in the US.. maybe other countries. In the US, a common nickname for someone is "J.R." if someone's name is John Richard for example. :)
Hello. Do you recall the type of inner sleeve liner used for the Art Blakey Indestructible recording? I seem to recall all my other 80th anniversary pressings having a polyethylene liner inside a paper liner. The Art Blakey recording had just a paper lining. Happy new year
Michael, started following you not long ago. Great collection and vids! I am about to embark in this journey of acquiring either BN80’s/Tone poets and/or Music Matters jazz reissues. Of those titles that have been launched by both Music Matters and BN80s/Tone Poets, are you inclined more towards one reissue than the other? For example, Lee Morgan’s The Sidewinder...
@@Michael45RPM I have it as well and will relisten. I don't listen to music very critically.. I don't notice little things unless it's dramatic. I'm probably not an audiophile. LoL

I have 24 of the 37 Blue Note 80's. Some of them I just didn't care for but for the most part it's a is a great series.

With all the new Blue Notes (Tone Poet / BN8 ) you've picked up have you had any issues with pressing defects ?
No big issues, i had luck not one edition with serious Problems.

My copy of Andrew Hill’s Smokestack is Dish Warped. Other than that no problems at all, luckily.

I am very forgiving too, i am not one who dislikes a complete edition because it has some warbles or clicks.

No not at all, i love Mono. I think that the Mastertape has problems after all those years
