I don't get how fun to drive gives it a win. The Lexus has a better interior, softer cabin, more comfortable seats, and better isolation. When you're driving normally who whips the car around corners? And when you're on an 8-hour trip, I'm sure people would take comfort over whipping it around corners for that long.

If it's performance, the Cadillac wins, if it's about luxury, then the Lexus does. I would say the two are aiming at two different niches. Lexus doesn't focus on performance with the RX, but at least they don't claim it to being sporty. What it is, is a luxury SUV and it does executes that pretty damn well!

Motor Trend you are so predictable. Lexus is largely known for cars that are smooth , quiet, and sophisticated. Ever since the first LS and every Lexus after that has had the same verdict: not fun to drive. Thankfully Lexus philosophy has always been to coddle the passenger with its charms ( smoothness, quiet, sophistication, fantastic ride quality, excellent sound system, and of course reliability/build quality. There's a reason why the RX is so successful, and that Lexus will continue to dominate. Cadillac ....nice try

Motor trend is so biased as usual the whole world knows the Lexus is a better vehicle especially when it comes to quality and longevity...most people want a smoother car especially on bad roads who wants to get tossed around in the cabin...Lexus all the way for me it has a better resale value and we all know American cars cant go the distance when it comes to reliability.

I test drive cars with a TON of knowledge per its VIN long before I even sit down in one. I knew instantly that THIS WAS IT 2 weeks ago as soon as I pulled off the lot. Couldn't be happier !! I LOVE IT !!

No one buys Cadillac. In the best cities of u.s., like NYC, Boston, or LA, you will see merc, bimmer, lexus and audi all over the streets, but not so many cadillac. Very likely, you may not run into one for the whole day, because this car is not good enough and mid-class just don't buy american cars.

The SRX uses a unique platform that combines bits and pieces from the Theta platform that underpins the new Chevrolet Equinox and the Epsilon II platform that sits beneath the 2010 Buick LaCrosse. Company officials insists that it mainly uses components found on no other GM vehicle. This vehicle sits on a platform also reffered to as "Premium Theta" or "Theta Premium". SO U BOTH WERE RIGHT! LOL! I love Caddy talk. IM THE KING OF IT! Next Caddy topic please? :D

I am still driving my 2008 SRX4 V6. I inherited it from my grandfather in 2010. It has 160k on the odometer. It gets crappy gas mileage and it uses a quart of oil every 300 miles. But other than that the only maintenance performed on it has been regular oil changes and replacing the spark plugs and changing out the transmission fluid at 100K.. It has been a very reliable car. I love my black on black SRX4.

Now, I'm just gonna break it down to you like this. The comment with the highest amount of thumbs up says "I'll take the Cadillac SRX thanks." and the second highest talks about American car companies reclaiming their throne as the world's prime. If that isn't enough proof that a majority of people prefer the SRX, then you're just ignorant. All you do is talk about quality because that's all the RX350 has. As for the other two major elements, design and performance, the Cadillac prevails, 2:1.

One major problem with the SRX, and the reason why I chose the Lexus over the SRX: LACK OF POWER. This is not something I would ever imagine criticizing a Cadillac for, but unless you're willing to pay a hefty premium for the turbo, the engine is lackluster even compared to the Lexus. It's 0-60 time is almost a second slower than the Lexus.

It just depends on the person. Sure some people just want a comfy cabin to carry them from point A to point B, but others actually want something that they 'enjoy driving'. Driving can either be a necessary chore, or a source of pleasure. I have a Cadillac SRX because I needed the utility of a crossover, but still wanted something that I enjoy walking up, turns a few heads, and gives somewhat of a thrill on the road. The Caddy is more of a driver's car, the Lexus is just nice transportation.

I'm from Germany, and i have to say that Cadillac is an amazing car brand.
I saw a lot of German reviews about some Cadillac models, and the Cadillacs always got the better results, even in the German carshows. The CTS has beaten the BMW 5-Series and the Mercedes E-Calss.
The CTS-V set a new record time in its class on the Nurburgring. So big respect to Cadillac, they are better than any european car maker.

I don't understand why people always say "buy american". With globalization, car makers are starting to make cars everwhere. Mercedes benz will start making cars in America. Toyota has some huge plants in America so when you say buy America, I don't understand what you mean. It's not a bad thing to be patriotic, but toyota is practically just as american as GM now...

about the objective bit, i dont really care much who they pick for the winner as much as i care about the comments. a good magazine is a magazine that writes reviews good enough for you to know almost exactly how it feels to drive the car and use its features. then, you could compare and pick the winner for yourself...

near the middle? how about near the top? just 2 weeks ago, Consumer Reports posted up the 2009 Initial Quality survey results....
Cadillac placed 3rd behind Porsche and Lexus with Lexus being 1st. Cadillac only had 91 problems out of 100 cars while Lexus posted an 84/100, which isn't that far off. just because a manufacturer is #1, doesn't mean every other manufacturer RIGHT below it is unreliable. you should learn to realize that.

stupid review, the very reason why RX is the benchmark of this segment, is BECUZ ppl who buy cars in this segment, mostly lookin for luxury, comfort, & safety, if anyone wanted to get a "fun to drive" small cross-over, they would most likely get Q5 or GLK, or even X3, that's also why you RARELY see any SRX, or Cadillac for that matter.
Lexus will WIN this and dominate this segment until other companies start to understand what the buyers want when buying such a car - luxury, comfort, safety.

  • @Hermes_VVVIP
    @Hermes_VVVIP 14 років тому

I see huge amount of Lexus, BMW, Benz, and the RX is EVERYWHERE, I live in a major city and one of the richest cities in the world, only few OLD ppl and ppl who cannot afford Lexus, Benz, BMW and Audi drive Cadi. the look of new Cadi is cool, but they simply cannot complete with those true luxury cars when it comes to luxury, and the look wise is very subjective, thus we can't really argue that.

  • @minibus1351

why is the "fun" factor what they are mainly looking for in a SUV. I'm sure the SRX is more sporty to drive but that's not the most important factor in a SUV. Why not just get a CTS instead if you're looking for a "fun" vehicle? I personally think the RX350 is the all-rounder.

What is true luxury...and don't say quality, because if they were the exact same thing there wouldn't be two different words for them. Well no, most japanese cars are made in america, but with japanese parts. They ship the parts here and now assemble them and so its "american." On the other hand, the new Cadillac CTS for example is completely American (as long as you buy the 3.0 liter). The car is made in America to the very button and stitch. American design, American made, etc. The new SRX is made in Mexico, with American parts. See what I mean? You can get an American car, you just have to look.

I don't consider myself an American car enthusiast, and I do think American companies have made brutal mistakes over the last years, but I believe Cadillac has made a valiant effort with its last two cars, which, as you can see here, can perfectly rival the top dogs of their respective segments. Lexus has won the neatest panel gap awards, best paint award many years in a row, also ranking number on JD power 15 yrs in a row, they use the best leather with the best attention for example, they only use one side of ONE tree to ensure the same color and pattern from the wood trim, two stage hand sanding, ONLY from Lexus in the industry, laser measure and correction to ensure the smoothest pain and panels...

True, especially when you can't understand the criteria they use to pick a winner (they compare the Mustang and the Camaro and declare the Camaro the winner, then the Mustang and the Genesis and the Mustang wins, and then the Camaro and the Genesis and the... Genesis! wins), but I feel like other magazines don't give cars the same exact chances to win a comparison as MT does...

Don't get your hopes up. But I like seeing people get their dreams crushed, so KEEP DREAMING

CTS is killing the 5 series in sales.
And The CTSV is totally insane in performance. And is Faster and equally or better equipped than:
    BMW M5
    Mercedes E63 AMG
    Audi S6
    Jaguar XFR
    Porsche Panamara
The CTS V had better HP better MPGS and a better Warranty than all of those cars. The CTSV fully loaded with everything is still less than one of those in their cheapest form.
The only reason they cost more is for the badge.

"blazed a trail" as in Trailblazer, by Chevy? lol. Im srry, but Lexus hav to b the most boring cars in the world, then to make it worse, they buy them in colours like silver ugh(which i dnt consider a colour...) i think Id rther drive neither of the and get an M class, but in this comparison the SRX wins. also, this is the clearist most HQ vid ive ever seen.
