***** What are you talking about a Ferrari cant keep up with a corvette because it is reversed engineered by GM engineers. GM allows Ferrari to lease their Magnetic Ride Control (MagneRide). Ferrari depends on GM to design and create the suspension for them so the car can turn, actually run and handle the power being provided. GM has been supplying Ferrari different variety of suspension for over 25 years.
I was checking some data logs from an older track rental done some time ago. Stock ZR1 on Drag Radials pulled 2.1 0-60 and 10.7 0-145 mph. Wish the guy kept accelerating for a second longer. Thats got to be a fucking record...
I like how people are always so surprised when a Gtr loses. A gtr is a computer it has sophisticated driver aids and launch control and paddle shift that is capable of shifting in 1/100 of a second or something like that, so yes it will win in a 1/4 mile drag race because of all the aids, but in anything longer than a quarter mile or a rolling start, it will lose. The corvette is the fastest out of all these cars in a rolling start, the reason it's not great in a quarter mile is because it is a real man's car (basic traction control, manual gearbox, minimal driver aids)

Its a real DRIVERS car, transmission shouldnt dictate how much of a man you really are :p That being said, this race was a 1/4 mile, so therefore the GTR lost in all scenarios hahahahahaha. The new GTRs, yes would beat these cars, however the new C7 8 speed z06 will beat this ZR1 and probably even the new 2015 GTR. I personally love autos, only because its starting to set even higher benchmarks than its manual predecessors (e.g. C6 ZR1 stock time 10.9 track, 11s on the street, C7 Z06 8 speed auto 10.9 on the street and track.. imagine what the c7 ZR1 could do). Being a JDM fan, i wish nissan pushed more power from factory out of their GTR :(
there still very good in rolling starts ive seen many races with it starting on a 50 60 or greater rolls and still beats many cars especially with the crazy tuned out versions aka alpha omega or alpha12+
try these cars with same horsepower,then see which will win,and then you can think twice when you gonna talk about GTR! take a look at nurburgring lap times so you can understand more easy which car is better.

How is a 1,740 KG with 480 HP sports coupe overrated. Yes in straight line performance a more heavy, less powered AWD car will lose to a more powerful RWD but being 158 HP down and 230 KG weight disadvantage, it is incredibly impressive especially how it handles in the corners. When you think the 2008 Nissan GTR Nurburgring lap at the time was 7:26.7 against the 2008 Corvette 2008 lap time of 7:26.4 on a 12.9 Mile track, i think you need to get your priorities straight.

I don't think people realize why the GTR lost, it's the heaviest car here, it's computers and awd is helping it pull a faster 0-60 time which is why the GTR will always win a 1/4 mile. However, because the GTR lacks power and is so heavy, it loses beyond 1/4 mile.

Traci W I didn't realize this was only a 1/4 miles race, it seems a little to long for it to be 1/4 miles. The problem here however is the GTR did 0-60 in 3.2 seconds in this race when it can do 2.8 no problem. Usually the GTR and Corvette a neck and neck on these 1/4 races. I have never seen a drag race between the two where the GTR falls that far behind a Corvette. The GTR should be exactly with the Porsche in this race. Thats nice, Mustang Cobra Jet isn't street legal and no, American muscle does not always win. I am a muscle car fan but you have to know when something losses or is equally matched.
when the ZR1 came out it was revolutionary a true flagship car since then of course technology and power will improve but regardless no car that will come out in the next ten years will make the ZR1 look slow it will always be legendary KING OF THE HILL BLUE DEVIL... thank you old friend
Bruno Soares Stock GTR had 530bhp crank its well known it never had only 480bhp, the cars nissan brought to tests were better than 530bhp IIRC one was tested at 580bhp. The first time the GTR lapped the ring on a record run it managed 180mph down the straight (from nissan's own data), which would only be possible with over 600bhp, further evidence is that the ZR1 when tested which had 640bhp could not manage 180mph yet will walk away from a GTR easy from 100mph+, GTR is not strong top end big frontal area creates lots of drag. A stock dealership bought 530bhp GTR was tested and it only did 160mph down that same straight. Its easy to tune the GTR to 700bhp with basically uprated fuel pumps and exhaust. They were also crazy protective of the car on the ring and did not want people to take pictures of the car as I would guess it had its interior stripped out. Car was later crushed so no evidence of it exists, compare this the the ZR1 that smashed the GTR record was sold to a customer and was a true production road car. If you remember back before they released there first lap record video, there was a fan spy video showing the GTR racing around and it was obvious that it had a full race exhaust because it was crazy loud, also another video from the drivers seat which sounded like a stripped out race car, nissan later lied that they had put the microphone in the engine bay haha. Nissan were caught out in the past with a R33 GTR was over 30sec quicker than a stock R33 independently tested with the same test driver, this was due to them bringing a modified tuned R33 with carbon fibre panels and boosted output. Big fan of the GTR's but getting tired of the lies.
Not only is the GTR not a drag racer, it also had a lot less HP. They took the lowest end version. Should have used the "black" or "premium" models that have 530+ HP. Would have been a different story. And the cost is only about 20k more. Nothing to cry about.

Really, I don't get the whole shit about GTR being a "super car" yeah, it's an impressive 6-banger.... but I consider super cars V10+ with at least 800 stock HP, yeah, shit you DON'T see on the road (because they cost at least 6 high figures). This is my scale: Normal cars v4-v6 automatics, nothing impressive Stage 1 fast cars high end v4, v6-low v8 auto/manual, mustang, Camaro, etc Stage 2 street/racing high end v6, v8 muscle for street manual, but often used on track. Mustang GT, low end Corvette, etc Stage 3 Racing, 1% on streets, weekend drivers. v8-low v10, Mustang GT500+, high end Corvette, etc. Super Cars: You have too much money, or you race high end. v10+ exotic, Bugatti, Lambo, Ferrari, etc. GTR lands under Street/Racing... albeit, it's a damn fast street car... it's not a super car
Agreed. That tires part had me astonished too. Narrower tires on both front and back, and GM was advertising that the C7 Stingray was outperforming the C6 Grand Sport. I couldn't believe it, but looking at its lap times and other performance #s that car has been putting down, it's amazing

the 2009 ZR1 has ran 10.6 @ 133 bone stock in the mile and the 2014 Track pack has hit 11.0 @ 125. the Zr1 also gets a 0-60 0f 2.9 and a 0-100 of 6.4. the GT-R gets a 0-60 of 2.7 and 0-100 of 7.0 the GT-R has never seen a 0-60 of anything better than 2.6.
I guess the new GT-R is much faster. 0-60 mph 2.7 Quarter Mile 10.8 Would be pretty cool to drive all of those back to back. I would take the Porsche or the 599.. just so much more refined.

world traveler i think stock it would be way better than in a straight line it does have 600 hp and has a 2.3-2.4 0-60 time so it still beats almost anything from 0-60 and many super cars in the quarter mile with under 10 sec my opinion with it being stock i say its better with track but i would like to see a alpha 16 or better packet to see what it can do

This was back in 2008. All these cars have changed quite a bit since then. Today, this race would be quite different as I'm sure the ZR1 and 599 would be in a fight for 3rd just like the GTR would be fighting the GT2 for 1st. A few years makes all the difference.

Um the R35 was out before the ZR1. The only vette that competed was the z06... Then all the sudden chevy throws out the zr1 and everyone starts comparing... try a zr1 to a 2014 gtr or if your mean the nismo r35... it's called up with the times people.. plus ice seen the GT2 spank zr1 in drag races and it beat it on nurburg...

vm2003 That 7:08 time is bullshit. The "Time Attack" GTR is not the same as a GTR Nismo w/ Track Pack. The Time Attack isn't street or emissions legal. It had modifications to its tune, aero, and torque vectoring system among other things.
LOL, modern day, McLaren MP4-12C does the quarter in 10.8 sec.... 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S 0-60 in 2.6 Sec (Road and Track) quarter in 10.9 sec 2014 Nissan GTR quarter in about 11 sec And the McLaren is much faster on many race tracks A 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 (about the same price as the Nissan now) is easily a match for the GTR on a racetrack. Lighter is better in many circumstances (racing).
I have been racing a friend with a 2014 GTR for a couple years now and he hasn't been able to even beat my Z06. Granted I run drag radials, full exhaust and a tune.
The 2008-2011 model GTR had only 485 hp. For 2012 they brought up to 530, 2013-2016 it got 545, and 2017 gets 565. A 2012 and up would've won no problem
The new zo6 c7 is gonna be atleast 650hp not 620 or 640. It already holds what they say an "astonishing" record breaking time on the track they use and that's just with the developers toying around with the suspension and engine tuning without being serious. The GTR is and has made a name for sure but it's not the best or the fastest car in the world. Yeah the new GTR may beat the zr1 now but lets face it. I have seen plenty of races where a factory zr1 and a factory GTR from 2008 til 2013 race and with a good driver the zr1 stays with the GTR and at times beats it. The vette only has 505rwhp out of it's 638. They de-tuned the car at the ring. GM is leaving drag racing for whoever wants to do it. They make cars now days to go on a track. They have won 14 championships in 5 different racing divisions in 2014 alone with the track-able cars they have built. When that new vette hits the track it's gonna cause nissan yet again to build something better.
Your making an assumption. I could just as easily assume the 458 is modded at every track it laps, but I know that isn't true, just like the ZR1 being modded isn't likely true either.
ill never understand how people can think the gtr is good looking. its like theyve never seen other cars. its most likely their cool friends or influential videos and magazines that make them like them. theyre about as much fun to look at as a van gogh next to a rembrandt. the rembrandt will make the van gogh look like kindergarten fingerpainting. not much skill, but that was the times of the late 1800s, the middle classes were forming and people had money to spend and low ability artists had a living to make. this is the GTR compared to nearly every other sports car. sure the canvass might be more technical but the paint on it is what sells.
They tested the GT-R and the zr1 in a drag race and the gt-r won it has got much better acceleration and aerodinamics, and also the power of all 4 wheels!

Wouldn't be the first nor the last time GM has used Germans to help engineer it's engines. Remember the GNX, McLaren helped them with the turbo setup on that engine and designed the suspension system in what was arguably the best v-6 that was ever produced at the time. However, the LS9 was produced from the LS3 engine, an already older line of engines that went through the workings of Corvette racing & development into the LS9 we have today.

Why don't you look up Randy Pobst lap times around Mazda Laguna Seca then?? He has driven some of the fastest cars in the world and is a professional race car driver. He was nearly 3 seconds faster in the ZR1 over that poor GTR. Yet, the ZR1 doesn't hold the lap record around there anymore, the Viper T/A does. Do a little more research before you let crap flow from your fingers.

um? 1st off its not late at night (not every one lives in united states) 2nd i can tell you have never seen a ZR1 in real life because it does look allot different, the stance and body along with a much louder engine "roar" the vehicle is much much lower to the ground and ALLOT wider,the z51,base, are vary vary different when you see them, the ZR1 has much more"presence"and the C7 is completely different? it looks better IMO i like the direction of the new c7 i got to see a white one over here!
the ZR1 being RWD will always over take a GTR on a roll with less points of resistance and a more arrow dynamic body... the GTR AWD is good for 1/4 mile and 1/8 but 1/2 mile runs not so much... the ZR1 is also a more track designed vehicle while the GTR is built more towards drag strip after all ZR1 placed 11th best at the NURBO while GTR placed 15th best and the z06 put up 13th best... the nwer GTRs are better but they are 8+ years newer... why not compare a ferrari f430 to a zr1? see why? : )

I was checking some data logs from an older track rental done some time ago.
Stock ZR1 on Drag Radials pulled 2.1 0-60 and 10.7 0-145 mph. Wish the guy kept accelerating for a second longer. Thats got to be a fucking record...

I like how people are always so surprised when a Gtr loses. A gtr is a computer it has sophisticated driver aids and launch control and paddle shift that is capable of shifting in 1/100 of a second or something like that, so yes it will win in a 1/4 mile drag race because of all the aids, but in anything longer than a quarter mile or a rolling start, it will lose. The corvette is the fastest out of all these cars in a rolling start, the reason it's not great in a quarter mile is because it is a real man's car (basic traction control, manual gearbox, minimal driver aids)
I agree with everything except the term "real mans car". Its a real DRIVERS car, transmission shouldnt dictate how much of a man you really are :p That being said, this race was a 1/4 mile, so therefore the GTR lost in all scenarios hahahahahaha. The new GTRs, yes would beat these cars, however the new C7 8 speed z06 will beat this ZR1 and probably even the new 2015 GTR. I personally love autos, only because its starting to set even higher benchmarks than its manual predecessors (e.g. C6 ZR1 stock time 10.9 track, 11s on the street, C7 Z06 8 speed auto 10.9 on the street and track.. imagine what the c7 ZR1 could do).

there still very good in rolling starts ive seen many races with it starting on a 50 60 or greater rolls and still beats many cars especially with the crazy tuned out versions aka alpha omega or alpha12+
try these cars with same horsepower,then see which will win,and then you can think twice when you gonna talk about GTR! take a look at nurburgring lap times so you can understand more easy which car is better.

How is a 1,740 KG with 480 HP sports coupe overrated. Yes in straight line performance a more heavy, less powered AWD car will lose to a more powerful RWD but being 158 HP down and 230 KG weight disadvantage, it is incredibly impressive especially how it handles in the corners. When you think the 2008 Nissan GTR Nurburgring lap at the time was 7:26.7 against the 2008 Corvette 2008 lap time of 7:26.4 on a 12.9 Mile track, i think you need to get your priorities straight.

I don't think people realize why the GTR lost, it's the heaviest car here, it's computers and awd is helping it pull a faster 0-60 time which is why the GTR will always win a 1/4 mile. However, because the GTR lacks power and is so heavy, it loses beyond 1/4 mile.

Traci W I didn't realize this was only a 1/4 miles race, it seems a little to long for it to be 1/4 miles. The problem here however is the GTR did 0-60 in 3.2 seconds in this race when it can do 2.8 no problem. Usually the GTR and Corvette a neck and neck on these 1/4 races. I have never seen a drag race between the two where the GTR falls that far behind a Corvette. The GTR should be exactly with the Porsche in this race.

Bruno Soares Stock GTR had 530bhp crank its well known it never had only 480bhp, the cars nissan brought to tests were better than 530bhp IIRC one was tested at 580bhp.
The first time the GTR lapped the ring on a record run it managed 180mph down the straight (from nissan's own data), which would only be possible with over 600bhp, further evidence is that the ZR1 when tested which had 640bhp could not manage 180mph yet will walk away from a GTR easy from 100mph+, GTR is not strong top end big frontal area creates lots of drag.
A stock dealership bought 530bhp GTR was tested and it only did 160mph down that same straight.
Its easy to tune the GTR to 700bhp with basically uprated fuel pumps and exhaust.
They were also crazy protective of the car on the ring and did not want people to take pictures of the car as I would guess it had its interior stripped out.
Car was later crushed so no evidence of it exists, compare this the the ZR1 that smashed the GTR record was sold to a customer and was a true production road car.
If you remember back before they released there first lap record video, there was a fan spy video showing the GTR racing around and it was obvious that it had a full race exhaust because it was crazy loud, also another video from the drivers seat which sounded like a stripped out race car, nissan later lied that they had put the microphone in the engine bay haha.
Nissan were caught out in the past with a R33 GTR was over 30sec quicker than a stock R33 independently tested with the same test driver, this was due to them bringing a modified tuned R33 with carbon fibre panels and boosted output.
Big fan of the GTR's but getting tired of the lies.
this is the GTR R-35, it has just 485 hp, them we have black edition of 545 hp and them the GTR NISMO of 600 hp.

Not only is the GTR not a drag racer, it also had a lot less HP. They took the lowest end version. Should have used the "black" or "premium" models that have 530+ HP. Would have been a different story. And the cost is only about 20k more. Nothing to cry about.

Really, I don't get the whole shit about GTR being a "super car" yeah, it's an impressive 6-banger.... but I consider super cars V10+ with at least 800 stock HP, yeah, shit you DON'T see on the road (because they cost at least 6 high figures).

Stage 1 fast cars high end v4, v6-low v8 auto/manual, mustang, Camaro, etc
Stage 2 street/racing high end v6, v8 muscle for street manual, but often used on track. Mustang GT, low end Corvette, etc
Stage 3 Racing, 1% on streets, weekend drivers. v8-low v10, Mustang GT500+, high end Corvette, etc.
Super Cars: You have too much money, or you race high end. v10+ exotic, Bugatti, Lambo, Ferrari, etc.
GTR lands under Street/Racing... albeit, it's a damn fast street car... it's not a super car

the 2009 ZR1 has ran 10.6 @ 133 bone stock in the mile and the 2014 Track pack has hit 11.0 @ 125. the Zr1 also gets a 0-60 0f 2.9 and a 0-100 of 6.4. the GT-R gets a 0-60 of 2.7 and 0-100 of 7.0 the GT-R has never seen a 0-60 of anything better than 2.6.

world traveler i think stock it would be way better than in a straight line it does have 600 hp and has a 2.3-2.4 0-60 time so it still beats almost anything from 0-60 and many super cars in the quarter mile with under 10 sec my opinion with it being stock i say its better with track but i would like to see a alpha 16 or better packet to see what it can do

This was back in 2008. All these cars have changed quite a bit since then. Today, this race would be quite different as I'm sure the ZR1 and 599 would be in a fight for 3rd just like the GTR would be fighting the GT2 for 1st. A few years makes all the difference.

vm2003 That 7:08 time is bullshit. The "Time Attack" GTR is not the same as a GTR Nismo w/ Track Pack. The Time Attack isn't street or emissions legal. It had modifications to its tune, aero, and torque vectoring system among other things.

I have been racing a friend with a 2014 GTR for a couple years now and he hasn't been able to even beat my Z06. Granted I run drag radials, full exhaust and a tune.
The 2008-2011 model GTR had only 485 hp. For 2012 they brought up to 530, 2013-2016 it got 545, and 2017 gets 565. A 2012 and up would've won no problem
The new zo6 c7 is gonna be atleast 650hp not 620 or 640. It already holds what they say an "astonishing" record breaking time on the track they use and that's just with the developers toying around with the suspension and engine tuning without being serious. The GTR is and has made a name for sure but it's not the best or the fastest car in the world. Yeah the new GTR may beat the zr1 now but lets face it. I have seen plenty of races where a factory zr1 and a factory GTR from 2008 til 2013 race and with a good driver the zr1 stays with the GTR and at times beats it. The vette only has 505rwhp out of it's 638. They de-tuned the car at the ring. GM is leaving drag racing for whoever wants to do it. They make cars now days to go on a track. They have won 14 championships in 5 different racing divisions in 2014 alone with the track-able cars they have built. When that new vette hits the track it's gonna cause nissan yet again to build something better.

I like the corvette because they never gave up tradition. Wonder why the 911 launched hard even though it's RWD? Wonder why the gtr launched hard even though its not powerful? Because they don't follow tradition. The day the corvette is dual clutched, awd, mid engined will be the day it rises even higher, it'll also be the day it loses it soul.

That, and the DI and it's 7-spd transmission work beautifully all put together. 51K isn't bad at all for such a car. But, agreed, not everyone can afford it.

Wouldn't be the first nor the last time GM has used Germans to help engineer it's engines. Remember the GNX, McLaren helped them with the turbo setup on that engine and designed the suspension system in what was arguably the best v-6 that was ever produced at the time.
However, the LS9 was produced from the LS3 engine, an already older line of engines that went through the workings of Corvette racing & development into the LS9 we have today.

Don't get me wrong, the GTR is an amazing car, it just has a few things I don't like about it. Such as AWD, Automatic gear box, feels like playing a video game, has a non confirmed Nurburgring time, etc.
Why don't you look up Randy Pobst lap times around Mazda Laguna Seca then?? He has driven some of the fastest cars in the world and is a professional race car driver. He was nearly 3 seconds faster in the ZR1 over that poor GTR. Yet, the ZR1 doesn't hold the lap record around there anymore, the Viper T/A does. Do a little more research before you let crap flow from your fingers.

The very week that GM took their new ZR1 out to Nurburgring to do their testing in 2012, that video was mainstreamed, documented, proven, and commercialized that same week. So if Nissan wasn't proud of their new 2013 GTR then where is that alleged video of its lap?? They don't post it because it never made the cut for a proven lap. I'll show respect the day they do post their vid, but till then you'll have to suck it up. ZR1 is still faster than your GTR.
um? 1st off its not late at night (not every one lives in united states) 2nd i can tell you have never seen a ZR1 in real life because it does look allot different, the stance and body along with a much louder engine "roar" the vehicle is much much lower to the ground and ALLOT wider,the z51,base, are vary vary different when you see them, the ZR1 has much more"presence"and the C7 is completely different? it looks better IMO i like the direction of the new c7 i got to see a white one over here!
the ZR1 being RWD will always over take a GTR on a roll with less points of resistance and a more arrow dynamic body... the GTR AWD is good for 1/4 mile and 1/8 but 1/2 mile runs not so much... the ZR1 is also a more track designed vehicle while the GTR is built more towards drag strip after all ZR1 placed 11th best at the NURBO while GTR placed 15th best and the z06 put up 13th best... the nwer GTRs are better but they are 8+ years newer... why not compare a ferrari f430 to a zr1? see why? : )
Yes it was. You lose dude. Plus the Zr1 could go even faster on that run. the GTR having the R mode doesnt leave much room for improvement. The Zr1 beat it at Nurburgring (With an actual time NOT ESTIMATED) The Quarter mile is truly a drivers race. If the ZR1 has a skilled driver then the GTR will lose. The Standing mile the Zr1 destroys it. Like said only thing the GTR has is 0-60
Its funny i'm going to be owning a Chevy 3500 Turbo Diesel soon. I already own a LS2 06 GTO and a 2000 Cavalier. Lol I think only my truck will not have as much into it as what A g37s IS worth. Again i'm only 19. Lol Must suck. You owned an Altima around my age.... I owned a GTO 3500 T Diesel and a Cavalier. Lol Not to mention my Cavalier is going to be one of the loudest cars ever.
