I musta changed pages or hit 'Cancel' by accident, but long story short, I feel that it is Cucumber Beetle damage followed by snail and/or slug damage. CBs start it and then the slugs feed on damaged or rotting material and the cot leaves are there for yet another purpose. I guess you've already used Imidacloprid and that is a contact insecticide as well, regardless what others say. I peacefully coexist with my slugs and snails because I hate to kill anything unless absolutely necessary, as in with CBs and Squash Bugs - each of which will be eradicated by 1-2 Imidacloprid applications, the first of which is about now---Good Luck! eg😏🤨🍀

Thanks for the reply! I’ll keep an eye out for cucumber beetles. I know CB carry some bad pant virus.
Do you have earwigs/ pincher bugs? They do stuff like k e that here if not held at bay.
