I got the chills watching this. I remember being in high school around this time and seeing bands like this in venues like this. So surreal to be that young, seeing a band you legitimately believe is the best band in the world, and you're less than 20 feet from them. And you're with a few hundred people who all feel the same exact way. I hope all young people get to experience something like that because it's incredibly exciting
Brings back great memories
💯
俺の青春です
honestly really bummed out that a band with this much talent didn't get to be as well-known worldwide. the guitar work, the vocals, the drums, the way all the instruments mesh really well together, the quality gives it more meaning and humanization, the lyrics are introspective, simple and relatable. as a 15 year old music lover i find these 90s emo/post hardcore bands to be the music that best resignates with me. i feel very inspired by these kind of bands and will make sure to do it justice with my own music in the future.
Unfortunately, the industry decides who will be famous or not. By the way, I liked your speech, are you interested in working with me in a project just for fun?
Don't worry, they aren't as unkown worldwide as you think. Saludos desde México

Without a doubt the best Get Up Kids era
Yep
This was the first emo show I went to. The first show at the middle east I attended. It was an amazing experience. I really felt as if the sincere flame and the torch of integrity in art and rock and roll was passed from the ashes of the grunge era to these bands and this genre. This show was really as great as I remembered it. Don't know how often that happens. Thanks for recording my memory
How Thin They All Are :)
Ahhhh yes. The Middle East downstairs. seen many a great band there for a very good price before they started playing bigger venues. Such a great little space. Best memory has to be seeing the Promise Ring and Jimmy Eat World play together back in 1998 (I think it was)
These songs are so fresh at the time that I'll catch you has different lyrics. This video has made my day. Amazing quality and what a show.

It's kind of crazy seeing TGUK just before they dropped a record that would indelibly leave a mark on Pop/Punk and Emo. "The new stuff" Matt mentions would end up being on "Something To Write Home About." Far and away, Millenial punk's "Sgt. Pepper." Or as Rob put it, on their 10 Yr Anniversary Concert DVD, "The last good record of an entire genre."
It really is, those ppl went out not knowing what they had just listened to.
@@Ebani and the fact that they like it says a lot
I discoverd TGUK around this time in a small dive bar in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma or Kansas, they played a lot of shows around here when they were touring out of their van and only going as far as Dallas. I was 16 at the time and I remember buying the four minute mile cd, and becoming a fan instantly. I would go on to purchase every album they released since. when STWHA dropped I remember picking it up at Sam Goodey and putting it in my discman with the old cassette adapter and driving my beat up used car along the backroads with the girl I was with at the time, windows down, blasting it on repeat. It was such a good time. I'm turning 40 in May and wondering where all the years have gone.
@@LonnieBruton Me too. I'm turning 40 in June.
Monumental emo pop/punk album, no doubt... but the Sgt Pepper????? Ummm how? lmao. I'd sooner give that title to something like In Reverie by Saves The Day.
Wow. Don't know how I stumbled across this. I was there.
Me too 😂
The nostalgia is real
25 Years Ago today, this show was. and in my hometown. Wish I could've been there to see it. TGUK have been such a formative band for me. Can't wait to see them in October--hopefully
The late 90s was a dark time for Rock music in the mainstream. At least we had awesome underground bands like these guys. Emo bands were doing all the heavy lifting.
No way this is incredible. Thank you for this upload
Whoa they sound so amazing. great era.
Trilha sonora do meu ensino médio
Yooooo, thanks for this upload! I am going to watch the Live Stream from about 6 hours ago first. Then go back and watch this gem because I am really here for these Get Up Kids. Four Minute Mile style.
This version of No Love man, Pryor's vocals are so heartfelt
My brother was in a band called Koufax and he absolutely floored the Pope brothers with his Pee Wee impression 😂 they toured together back in the early 2000s. Vagrant records pretty crazy dog house was based out of Toledo Ohio where I'm from let's go GUKS
"one night doesn't mean the rest of my life" is something I wish I heard before this age
Is that James Dewees on the keys?!?!
Yep.
Duh
Reggie and fucking full effect!
You are a true master of your craft. Incredible, as always.
All of these songs sound so much fuller and better performed than on the albums. Love it.
amazing video and quality. the get ups kids got me through such tough times in my 20s. all the love to you all
guys the'yre not emo, they're all about teh rock \m/. i mean, the bass player has a def leppard shirt and everything
Saw them last year releasing their new album and it was a great show! Still rocking
shittttt, woodson needs to be preserved!
Love that song
So thankful I saw them in this era. Church basement in Louisville. Power kept going out. Anyone?
Oh man, Close to Home = goosebumps
This shit sounds really good
Damn this band was and is awesome. Great era of them.
This was before they released their new album "something to write home about" on September 1999.
What movie was The Last Place You Look on the soundtrack for?
Can't beat 90s early 2000s bands!
Twenty years ago...
Kinda wish I could go back I time lol
peak get up kids in my opinion.
shout out to the sound guy who basically killed it.
yea dude same, I LOVE Something To Write Home About. But Four Minute Mile is peak TGUK imo
@@toohundred four minute mile is a better album but their musicianship is amazing in this era.
emo at its finest
they are so good...
12:56 James being introduced, so much feels. What a great live show.
Reggie!
@@wide_awakeyessss. Love some Reggie. I still listen to them all these years later James is an amazing artist
Ooooh early adolescence...
holy fuck this is my life I've only heard after adding may fav mp3 soul seeked tracks onto an mp3 CDR that my 92 honda would read and never seeing the music with m y eyes. "I wouldn't know where to start"
Nice footage. Saw them around 2000, they were amazing back then. Saw them 2 years later, they weren't so good anymore...
best fuckin' time
My favorite era of TGUK
incredible
If this is all you see, then have a drink on me, look who’s laughing now
Roy Batty 203 me hehe
I was there. Always loved them but the Midwest boys always lacked the anger of our Boston bands. Not saying that’s a bad thing. We’re just so angry here all the time. Maybe it’s the weather.
Is there a way to PM/email you to get an MP3 version of this (for a small donation perhaps?)
You can download this vídeo in Mp3 format. Justo write SS before UA-cam un the url, like this: www.ssyoutube... Youll be send to a webpage where yo can download it.
Sorry for my bad english.
@@_Liquid_Snake looks like the website isn't allowing downloads in the states any more, a month too late.
This is such a great recording! I liked at 33:00 when he talks shit on KC being devoid of good shows. Can confirm.
FUCK YES
Killer set.
Seriously, what a fuckin find this is!
Wow. This sounds great
they sound so good live
The day after my 17th birthday. I was stuck in Canada

Good Kids
What happened to James Duwees? Why he got kicked I mean
We don’t talk about James Dewees. Neither does New Found Glory. And neither do My Chem.
Ditto
19:28 - 20:46 That was hilarious!
