THE ANNUAL FREELANCE KIT VIDEO IS HERE!!! Thank you all so much for tuning in :) I know it's been a minute since I've uploaded dedicated makeup artist content, so thank you all for the continued support! All the products mentioned are in the description. Because I am limited to a certain amount of characters, I couldn't link every product.
Thank you so much for being so transparent!! ❤ I'm still fairly new to the beauty industry, and I definitely have noticed that not many artists want to show what they have in their kit. 😢
Thank you very much for such an informative video with a lot of useful information. You are so GREAT that you even left all the links to every item. All the best to you!
Thanks for this video! Always love watching how you break down your kit and how you've changed over the years as you've also changed your business! So wholesome
These kit videos are how I found you a few years ago! Always happy to watch them ❤ I definitely want to try the clear palettes and I need a cool brush holder like this that I can use as a makeshift trash can 😂 wanna know some weird stuff my makeup class says? They’re like insisting we ONLY use cinema secrets for brush cleaning and I’m like … but that’s just spot cleaning right? You still need to properly wash the brushes! And then we’re using 99% alcohol in class but I’m so confused because I always thought if it was higher than 70%, it would evaporate too quickly to thoroughly sanitize the powder products!! I still wash my brushes with normal brush cleaner and let them fully dry, and use 70% alcohol when I get home, but I’m just like what are they teaching us lol. And then we’re REQUIRED to do face first in our exams and it’s been driving me insane because fixing the fallout is beyond annoying! Plus they didn’t give us a gel liner, just a shitty cake liner and it makes me so mad because that’s 5 mins extra of my time I’m using to try and get the right consistency and it transfers no matter what I do! I’m almost done class though and once I’m a certified MUA I can use what I want thankfully, just hanging in there for now 😂 the inglot gel liner is my fave so I can’t wait to use that on people again! we just wrapped up bridal and I passed both my written and practical! our last week is airbrushing! So nervous for that lol. We start tomorrow. Can’t wait to try that though! I will be coming back to your channel any time I need to buy any of your recs, for example I will be needing new foundations ASAP. I cannot stand the stuff they gave us, it’s not acne safe and I’m breaking out so badly from having it put on my face for the last three weeks straight. The powders make me so itchy and I’m definitely experiencing some contact dermatitis from these “professional” products 🙄 I mean they are actually professional (the brand is MUD) but I don’t plan to use anything except the brow pomades we got lmao. Like what how am I supposed to put makeup on a bride that is just going to make her skin itchy and potentially cause her to break out?? Plus the cream foundations look horrible no matter what you do to prep. It’s just not it. I’d so much rather learn from a real makeup artist like you and hear what your tried and trues are, than go off the curriculum from a weird outdated company that encourages us to use A SPOON to curl peoples lashes. Yes, a metal spoon you would use for eating!!! Imagine being a bride and coming for your trial and having your MUA insist using a SPOON instead of a lash curler 😭 absolutely not. Like what are they on! They also gave us latex sponges… like noooo. Thankfully I had the CVS jumbos you’ve recommended in the past on hand too because one of my models had a latex allergy! I have my first wedding next year and doing the bride’s engagement photos on Thursday- beyond excited! Thank you for everything, your content over the years has truly helped me so much in my makeup artistry journey ❤ Have a great day Julie ❤❤❤
Hi Annika! Thank you for always being a light in my comments section :) That's so unfortunate that your school isn't teaching the correct hygenic procedures. It seems like you are doing amazing in your schooling and I am so happy that you are so close to graduating! You will love having that credential and getting into the makeup industry! Congrats on getting your first wedding :) I hope you have so much fun with it!
This was my favorite video so far this year 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 AMAZING. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. As someone who so desperately wants to get into becoming a freelance makeup artist. This excites me so much.
Aww yay I'm so glad you liked the video!!! My best advice is just go for it! I wanted WAY too long to start my career so getting going is always the hardest part. It's such a rewarding career as well :)
I haven’t really used it as yet. I’ve been using a rolling case and a table-top soft case. I still plan to use them but I want to make a more specifically bridal kit so everything is more streamlined on the day. I had noticed that the inserts were really deep so I especially love the way you’ve organised the main section .
Just found your channel! Thanks for sharing, I really want to start working for myself, but I am so afraid of not being good enough so I always go and work for somebody else making the minimum, I needed some motivation thanks for that.
I’m glad this could spark some encouragement!! We all have that fear of failure in our minds at one point or another so it’s hard to push past that. If you want to do it though, go for it! If it doesn’t succeed, you didn’t fail, you just found out what doesn’t work and can try again :)
Thank you so much!! Since the powders are in squeeze bottles, the powder comes out each time you squeeze them :) I put them onto palette and use a sponge or brush from there.
literaly THANK YOU SO MUCH, your video is so helpful and it's very kind of you to even put the links of each products !! I've been looking for in-depth makeup kit tours but only encountered videos like "few essentiels to have in a pro kit", which can be useful but nos as much as what you offer. I still had a question though about the foundations shades, I see that you carry 6 shades (of the Nars Light Reflecting), are they the "only" shades you have in total ? and what if i want to choose another brand than Nars for example, how do i choose the shades to fit the most poeple ? I'm sure that i dont have to buy a lot of them, but i've been really struggling here... thank you again i hope your business is flourishing:)
Aww thank you so much! I'm so glad you found this video helpful :) If I'm missing any product links, let me know! I do carry only the 6 shades and mix them with each other and the Face Atelier color adjusters to get the correct shade matches. I just made a makeup kit series for the holidays and specifically made one over choosing foundations you may find helpful! ua-cam.com/video/ovBPZfGCjcQ/v-deo.htmlsi=4jVEgWXNlyuuxqdl
I have a tiny makeup space so I depot and downsize everything . I also like to put my full face on once a day and LOVE soft glam . Why not look like a sweet , sexy innocent Bride ,.everyday !!! Love your content Julie ! Makeup for me is therapeutic and meditative . ❤🇺🇸❤
Hi Julie! Missed your content so much. I recently noticed I’ve not been seeing your content for a while. So came to your channel, to make sure i was still following you and i was. So made an effort to put you on notifications and also do reminder option you put on your videos pre post. And to date nothing works. I will have to search and find you before I can see your content. Which is nit right. UA-cam is doing you very bad. Hmm. But then also I prefer to watch your long videos here than the other apps where i see only shorts. Long story short, you’ve been missed. Don’t mind coming to your channel to watch your content. Always worth it as a fellow artist.
Hmm that's so interesting! I know I haven't been putting out makeup related content for a bit so maybe the algorithm just decided not to push some things out. I do however really appreciate you checking back in and getting caught up on some videos that you may have missed :)
Yesss the Laneige lip masks are amazing! I use the Berry one on my models but also love the vanilla and choco mint (basically just mint) but also love the fresh lip balms, I still have the lemon, coconut and salted caramel but so sad that only coconut is available these days 😢
Yes that are really amazing! I want to get more of them, but they're so large it's hard to even go through one haha. I used to have the caramel Fresh lip balm which was my fav. So sad they discontinued them :(
I love your content! Have you phased the huda beauty loose powders out of your collection? I started using them after seeing them in one of your older kit videos and I’ve been obsessed!
Thank you so much! Yes, unfortunately I made the decision to phase out the Huda powders because of the scent. It's pretty strong for some people. If they ever make unscented versions I'll definitely be adding them back in :)
Hi! My light is linked in my Amazon storefront, the mirror came with an older set back I used to have, and the containers from my kit were unfortunately discontinued. You can find similar ones either at Muji or Target!
please could you link all your plastic pots in the comments- I have the same bag and really need a different method because my foam dividers always collapse! xxx
Hi!!! The majority of the plastic inserts I have got discontinued off of Amazon unfortunately! Muji stores and target have similar ones, but i don’t have specific links. Most of them are bathroom drawer organizers!
They are depotted from individual lipstick bullets :) I scoop them out with a spatula and put them in the metal pans. The pans and palettes are from The Artist Kit Company!
Hey, I love watching your videos and I think I want to be a makeup artist someday. I was wondering if you could make a video where you show how much money you make in a day?
Hi! I would love to do something like this, but since my primary income comes from weddings, I would never be able to reveal what my clients paid me for it. It would also be very hard because each week or even day is different. The income is never consistent which is one of the things you'll most likely have to take into consideration. This job has it's pros and cons, but I would say to go for it! People normally have more regrets if they don't!
I desperately need those containers, but they aren’t sold in Europe… I don’t know if Muji ships to Europe and our Amazon sucks for beauty supplies. Everything American mua’d recommend in their ‘store front’ is barely sold in European Amazon sites.😔 Any fellow Europeans in the comments?🙂

I'm so glad that you enjoyed the in-depth video! There is unfortunately a lot of gatekeeping in this industry so it's hard to find the hidden gems!
Honestly the highlight of my week. I can't wait to get off work so I can watch this! 🥰
