Way back in cosmetology school, my instructor made us cut off all the applicators that came with our products lol. Pretty good way to keep you in the habit of being sanitary!
Hi Julie, thank you for the video. As starting makeup artist, I find your content very helpful. I just found your channel a few days ago and am going through all your content. it is amazing and packed with information. Wish you good luck with your channel and MUA carrier! Greetings from Prague!
Hi! I'm overhauling our school's theater department and sanitation is at the top of the list- from costumes to makeup, I need to give my students solid info. This video fits the bill perfectly! A lot of the sanitizing techniques are similar to what I learned years ago but it was GREAT to hear an update about gels and liners as well as affirm some of my own practices. Thank you, thank you for your awesome, non-nonsense, efficient video!!!
i’ve been thinking to start my journey on becoming a makeup artist and all i can say is that you taught me so many things throughout this video, i appreciate you going into detail, i learned so much! ❤
With the spoolie wands I find once I have dip it into the mascara I bend the wand at the opening of the tube, it makes it easier to apply and also stops me from accidentally re-dipping back into the tube.
Hi Julie! You can SANITIZE sponges! Soak them in antibacterial dish soap to remove product. While wet pop them in the microwave for a few minutes. The high temp and radiation kills bacteria. Also can be done with your dish sponges. For those who love sponges. 😆😆😆😆😆 love your videos and watching you grow 🌱
Hi Jeanette! I still personally don’t trust it and it hasn’t been scientifically proven so I just want to make sure I’m taking the necessary precautions. That’s personally my own opinion though :) rather be safe than sorry! Thanks for watching the video girl!
This is absolutely the best video I’ve seeeen. I’ve been waiting for someone to break this down well for years!!! I love clean makeup and can never find a video of how to clean best❤️❤️❤️
BEAUTYSOCLEAN is a great brand. I buy their makeup sanitizing wipes; they use 70% alcohol, but there's other stuff added to prevent the product from drying your products out. There's a spray version, as well.

I love the single use applicators. I also like the acrylic palette as putting stuff on the back of your hand like some people do might seem innocent enough to you but some people might not appreciate having stuff put on their face that was sitting on your skin just a moment ago
Yes! I feel the exact same way! I’m not going to lie, I originally got trained to work off the back of my hand and then a year in realized that people are not 100% down with that at all times.

Awesome video. I was just scrolling through the Sephora app and came across the Cinema brush cleaning line. Some reviews mentioned their brushes shedding after using them. Have you experienced this? I’m currently doing a make up course. So much to it than I thought. Your videos are very helpful xx
I’ve personally never had this issue! Natural haired brushes will shed as a normal thing though so it could be that as well and ppl may just not be aware of that.
I don't personally use actually powder puffs. If you're referring sponges...no you can't sanitize or wash those. They absorb product which means they'll always be bacteria that can harbor in the middle.
What electronic signature service provider do you go through for your contracts to have them signed electronically? I'm doing a trial run with DocuSign but I don't know if I want to commit because it's pricey. I might try hello sign. But just curious what you use.
I’ve been finding great disposable sponges at dollar tree in a 3 pack or five below in a gigantic bag of variety disposable sponges and powder press sponges if that helps anyone!

Hi Julie! Can I ask a question on sanitation in between clients. How long you have to wait for u to call the next client for example bridesmaid after u sprayed alcohol on to ur kits? Will the alcohol dry enough to use again for example 15mins? I hope I explain it clear Thankyou x
Hi that’s a great question! The plastic bristles of the brush do not clean easily. The alternative would be to use an actual mascara fan brush. I’ve thought about doing this :)
That’s a great question! Using alcohol directly will dry out the brushes and cause the hairs to fall out. I use Cinema secrets which is a spot cleaner, but it’s not 100% hygienic. This is why I choose to bring enough sets of brushes for the amount of people that I’m doing that job. I only use the spot cleaner if I’m switching colors for the same client.
@@julieruby Thank you. I try very hard to sanitize in between though. I bring my sister to sanitize my brushes once I'm finished with them and all my products before moving to the next person.

Most of the shedding issues arise because of over saturating the brush with the cleaner (CS can break down the adhesive of the brush over time).
@@Jesscabearr 👋 safe to say I’ve been using CS and have experienced zero issues with shedding as I barely dip my brushes in the solution.
Can you reuse powder puffs if you wash them?
I don't personally use actually powder puffs. If you're referring sponges...no you can't sanitize or wash those. They absorb product which means they'll always be bacteria that can harbor in the middle.
What electronic signature service provider do you go through for your contracts to have them signed electronically? I'm doing a trial run with DocuSign but I don't know if I want to commit because it's pricey. I might try hello sign. But just curious what you use.
Hi I do use Hello Sign for mine :) I know it’s free up to 3 signatures which is handy! I pay for mine now but I love Hello Sign!
@@julieruby thank you i'll try them out 🙂
I’ve been finding great disposable sponges at dollar tree in a 3 pack or five below in a gigantic bag of variety disposable sponges and powder press sponges if that helps anyone!
That’s great! Thanks for sharing! :)
You remind me of Janette MCcurdy?! Not sure it’s the cheeks and mouth or your voice 🤨 regardless thank you for this information . You are absolutely beautiful and I love your channel 🥰 you have helped me tremendously with being fast and efficient
Haha thanks! I usually get that alot because of the sound of our voices. I also was blonde in here so that makes sense haha I'm brunette now! Thank you for all the sweet compliments and I'm glad you have gotten some great tips and info from my channel :)
Hi Julie! Can I ask a question on sanitation in between clients. How long you have to wait for u to call the next client for example bridesmaid after u sprayed alcohol on to ur kits? Will the alcohol dry enough to use again for example 15mins? I hope I explain it clear Thankyou x
Hi great question! When you use 70% alcohol it only takes about 5ish minutes for it to completely absorb so you’re good in between clients :)
@@julieruby thank you julie❤️
Great video!!
Thank you so much! :)
This is very informative
I'm glad it was helpful! :)
I learned so much
I’m glad this video helped!!
Loved it
Thank you Kira!! :)
Hi! Why can’t you use for exemple one plastic mascara brush and just wash it between your clients? Much more good for the climat and your economy
Hi that’s a great question! The plastic bristles of the brush do not clean easily. The alternative would be to use an actual mascara fan brush. I’ve thought about doing this :)
the only thing with the disposables is the amount of waste :( but theres no other choice really
I know that’s the only thing that sucks but yeah it can’t be helped unfortunately :(
Thank you so much this is so helpful 👍🏽 subscribe!🎉😃
I’m so glad to hear that!! Glad you found it helpful :)
Why can't you just spray the brushes with alcohol?
That’s a great question! Using alcohol directly will dry out the brushes and cause the hairs to fall out. I use Cinema secrets which is a spot cleaner, but it’s not 100% hygienic. This is why I choose to bring enough sets of brushes for the amount of people that I’m doing that job. I only use the spot cleaner if I’m switching colors for the same client.
I can't afford 8 different brush sets 😭
Girl I did not buy these all at once 😂 it takes time!
@@julieruby Thank you. I try very hard to sanitize in between though. I bring my sister to sanitize my brushes once I'm finished with them and all my products before moving to the next person.
Can’t find your Instagram
Hi! I changed it earlier this year and haven’t updated my older videos. It’s @juliemarie_artistry.

I can’t thank u much ,,,
You’re so welcome Kavita! :)
Cut off the end of the twist up pencil
That’s definitely an option! I twist mine up extensively and sharpen it way down so same concept! :)
Thanks
Omg you are so sweet Terri!!! Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
