  • A rare interview with Robert Fischer, a WWII veteran of the Pacific theater, born on July 14th, 1926, who recalls the Great Depression while growing up. During his service in the U.S. Navy, Robert was stationed on the USS Chenango. He recalls kamikaze attacks, Japanese submarines, and mines. He participated in the Battle of Okinawa and even set foot on the island. After Japan surrendered, Robert had the opportunity to witness the aftermath of the destruction of Nagasaki. He was able to take a bus tour of the demolished city. Thank you, Robert, for your service in the U.S. Navy. You've done a lot for our country! Please email me at lukeb.filmperia@gmail.com if you know of a veteran or historical witness who would be comfortable being interviewed on my channel. It is important to preserve history!
