Its a whole different situation when you're doing this to yourself, but its doable. My hair is long, half way down my back, fine and damaged from bleach. I had a few months i didn't take care of myself, i lost my only child, a son named Jeffrey in March of last year (2023) Anyway, i didnt wasn my hair for months. Id put gunk in it to slick it back with a scrunchie. Well, i finally decided to try to get myself together. Ill jump right in. Youll need a ton of conditioner, go to Walmart or whatever and buy a couple value size bottles of whatever is on sale. I happened to have Garnier on hand. Fill an empty container with equal parts conditioner and warm water. Saturate the hair first, than start dumping the 50/50 mixture on and gently work it in. Than do a pitcher of warm water (or use the sink sprayer) just enough to work that conditioner all through. I do this 2 part phase (50/50 mix -work thru - add warm water ) over and over without trying to pull tangles out. Its a bit tedious, but it smells great and with each condition bomb/rinse tne hair naturally untangles, to a degree. After a good 20 minutes of that...im going to use more conditioner now, keeping hair soaking wet i glob on a cup or two of straight conditioner, and. Now i fluctuate using a heavy wide tooth comb and a lightweight plastic detangling brush, and alternate brushing out snarls -sometimes using the comb for one or two hairs at a time. Continue the process all over. The nape is really the worst and most painful. Bomb it with conditioner as many times as you need to until you can run your fingers through your entire head of hair. Rinse well. Than work in a leave it conditioner+ i like biosilk, but you can use the 50/50 mix and it works fine. Be prepared for super silky, clean and completely moisturized hair. - Peace y'all.. I’m not sure you’ll see this but did you wash your hair first?? All these videos I watch and not one ever talks about the build up on your scalp from not washing… please can you help me in how to get rid of it??? Does it just take a few shampoos to get out or do you need to do something special??
@@codimarie090 i wet my hair thoroughly than just started by putting hands full of the conditioner all over and gently massaging it in. The process i describe in my previous comment is using this conditioning bombing a few times to work snarls out. So you really don't need to use a shampoo. My hair came out really clean, and moisturized.

@@codimarie090 hi, the problem was the length a few inches below my scalp had matted into, all i can think to describe it is, an interlocked mass - i don't have dandruff or dry scalp i guess, because i did sometimes use cotton balls soaked in whatever and wiped around my nape and hairline. Its tangling again now. I'm tempted to buzz it off and just start over ...
Her hair looks so better in the after shot than my hair ever has. You guys are amazing and gave me strength to work on my sons hair who went to a water park with his dad followed by a beach trip. His has very kinky curly hair and shoulder length when dry when blow-dried straight (never done-but seen it when it was wet it goes to his elbows) he is only ten and overweight and does not want to cut his hair
I’m dealing with matter hair right now. As a trans woman m, keeping my hair is important to me because it’s a huge factor as to if I pass or not. But sometimes things just Matt up. Had a death in the family, then I was injured, then sick, then depression kicked in. It just happens to the best of us. Why do the texturizing shears damage the hair? I was recently bedridden for 3 weeks straight. I developed a huge knot and I wish some salons would advertise that they will do this bc I'm too embarrassed to ask at the place I normally go to. ❤ Thank you for this!

For Context you Need a Heavy Duty Hair Brush, Coconut Oil or Mineral Oil, For your Hair. I Recommend Brushing your Hair First before Cutting your Hair or Showering it helps with Less Knots in your Hair and you go way more Quicker than Standing or Sitting there Brushing more Knots out. Also I don’t recommend Using Rosemary Oil it makes your Hair grow more with more Knots in your Hair And Your Welcome❤️
I'm in the UK and my 8 year old daughter's hair has got this bad in 6 days on holiday with swimming in the pool. I cannot believe it has got this bad. She has very long hair and is distraught at the prospect of having it all cut off. Your video gives me hope it's possible to save it but I don't think I can do it alone. What shall I put on? My sons did this over a quick vacation too! I’m normally a master detangler but it’s so bad and it seemed like the pool had to do with it even though it was rinsed out. Im trying to do the job professionally as possible instead of the ripping I see a lot of parents resort to. We will be going through a whole bottle of conditioner for a couple hours tmrw night. Shew. I feel like a bad parent but remember how easily my hair did this too because of the way I played and curls as a kid.
Hi, I’m so happy I came across this video. My 6 year old has severely matted hair just like this since June of this year. And I’ve tried so many products to detangle her hair. I’ll make headway and her hair just retangles. It has been extremely frustrating. I need help. I would love to fly her out to your salon. However I recently lost my job and car and that’s not an option. Can please tell me what products to use? What causes the hair to retangle or lock back up? What detangling tools work best? Or can you please do a tutorial that will be helpful to us who are not financially able to fly to your salon. Thank you in advance.
I am not an expert, but I think that in the video they mentioned patience, as being the main ingredient in getting the job done! I also think that keeping the hair hydrated is good, like to de tangle the hair after washing the hair and adding lots of conditioner, and then adding oils to the hair like coconut oil, jojoba oil, olive oil, rosemary oil, almond oil, ect to keep the hair hydrated, I think it would help make it easier to detangle. Also, dividing the hair into small sections, and working on each section at a time, and if you can’t finish, just braid the hair that has been de tangled, to prevent it from de tangling again. Im a guy with long thick hair (to my lower back) I wear it in a pony tail and am going through an issue with matting. Its like a strip running down to my shoulder blades and im seriously suffering mentally because I am humiliated by it and its getting too much to live with. My partner is incredible and is helping me out everywhere she can, so seeing this at least makes it feel possible since mine is small compared to this. Does anybody here have good product recommendations (including brushes/combs) as im trying everything i can find and still struggling. Its costing a fortune but at this point i dont care, thank you in advance. My hair is to the floor and I'm 5'5 and have currently had two kids back to back in the last two years and I hardly have time to take care of myself and my hair is what suffers the most.. I need mine taken care of currently most of my issue is right at my scalp though because my hair usually stays in a bun . 🙃 About to see if I can find someone to put some braids in it for me after I get it taken care of because I can't think of anything else to do aside from cutting it and for me thats not an option. I'm disabled with 0 help (currently trying to get on disability which will offer me a cleaner to come around once a week to help out with the stress of my home) but yeah my hair has been like this and even worse sooo many times. Salons really don’t want to help you with a service like this detangling matted hair. I’ve tried to contact a few places and yes, they are not very helpful about it. This one stylist told me her hourly was $90 and I was willing to pay the money to get the help breaking down my hair that was matted, but I know she didn’t want to do it and kept suggesting pixie cuts. I definitely declined the pixie cut. It has to be a salon like Leda’s salon for that type of service.

Why not cut the hair? When she says that, I can't tell if she's saying that cutting it is a bad for matted hair and to wait until it's combed out, or if someone doesn't want it cut, she won't cut it, but will put the work in to detangle longer hair.
I also have severely matted hair. I'm on disability and don't have the resources to pay a professional. I try my best every day to get the " baby ones" out but no real improvement. Any advice would be appreciated tremendously! I don't want to give up hope. It took me 40+ years to grow it really long and two months of trauma to let it get like this. It's been matted for over two years now. Someone please help🙏
The only way to get it out is to get a professonal to do it or have multiple people get professnal tools for you to get it out and help you. (I would also recommend putting oil on your hair and shampoo your hair really well, i can give you links for the professnal stuff you need but you cannot do this alone you need at least 2 of your friends or family to help you)

I have a huge matt about 6x6 inches in the back of my hair right now. I was frustrated and just about to cut, but then I watched this. It's only been 1 week since I brushed my hair, I've been wearing it in a messing bun, but because it's fine and think, it's bad. Don't know about other people, but my hair and looks isn't a priority in my life at the moment. I have a business that I run from home, 3 children that are special needs and each homeschooled in a different grade, a house to maintain, and a husband to take care of. There is not time for myself, sometimes not even for a brush, considring my hair is so tangly anyways, a simple daily brush takes about 30 minutes.
I can totally relate. I have two big Matt’s at the back of my hair. Also mom of three special needs kids and I barely have any time for “self care” let alone caring for my hair the way I should. Now I’m at a loss of what to do!! I don’t have money to get professionals to help detangle me (I imagine this costed hundreds of dollars to fix) the only thing I can think to do is to melt coconut oil put it in my hair and put a hair cap over and pray to God I can try to get it out myself 😖 did you manage to get yours out and if so, how did you do it?
I’m detangling my hair everyday little by little I not cutting my long hair and mine is curly. Remember she said patients. I took care my mom in the hospital and forgot of myself. And I will do all over agin if I have to. Be blessed.

My hair has gotten to the point where the entire back of my hair comes up with a pull of one strand of hair. I love my hair and I never want to cut it off. I might go out to you, it started in early November 2023
Try at home. I’ve been in this situation more times than I’d care to admit. The first time I was convinced to cut it.. then one time I decided to work on it myself. Sure it took a long time but I DID IT!! All you have to do is find a piece you can pull out and continue. Your hair will be going in all crazy directions. So let’s say the back of your head is all matted but you have some other hairs out.. some of those other hairs will also be in that matt. Once you get some you can find more. My hair is once again matted. Not as bad as the person in this video and I’m not sure how bad yours is but I hope you got something from my message that is helpful. I’m planning on working on it again this weekend. If you have any questions I’ll do my best to help if I know the answer =]

@@trixintrudy you honestly can do either. Well with dry I will use detangling spray even the cheap stuff from dollar tree and it works just fine. It’s actually pretty darn helpful. When you’re doing it that way ( dry hair) I heard it’s more prone to breakage. What I did was wash my hair normally… then did it when it was damp… you can either do it with conditioner still in… or like I said use a detangling spray. I’m SO happy you found it helpful! YOU CAN DO IT with a little bit of patience… even if you need to take breaks that’s totally fine… do as much as you can and repeat the next day.
My 16 yr old son hasn’t let anyone touch his hair in probably 4/5 years. He’s very sensitive. I wouldn’t have a clue where to start or even get him to do it.

I fell and fractured my spine last year and couldn’t stand or bathe for several months. I live alone, so I had no one to provide me with hygiene care. My long curly hair got very matted, like a felt ball.
You all did a phenomenal job at detangling her matted hair, but she still has a lot of damage and thinning from all the combing and stress on her hair, I would have shaved it all off but to each its own
I wish they could have helped me. Unfortunately, they quoted me at $5000 originally. Which is fine. Then they told me it’d be cheaper if I did a video. Fine. Then they told me I’d have to show my face in the video and the STARTING price would be 5 grand. When I obliged to the video in addition to 5 grand, they told me the video was mandatory and acted like the money was the issue and told me a typical salon charges this and that. The money wasn’t the issue. They ignored my concerns. They asked me why my hair matted, they asked if it was from scruba diving like all the other white girls. I told them I can’t even swim. I don’t go in the water. My hairs matted bc my ex beat me and still was treated this way. I gave up.

It’s not always a cry for help but often physicality not doable then it’s too tangled to work with.

I'm in the UK and my 8 year old daughter's hair has got this bad in 6 days on holiday with swimming in the pool. I cannot believe it has got this bad. My sons did this over a quick vacation too! I’m normally a master detangler but it’s so bad and it seemed like the pool had to do with it even though it was rinsed out. Im trying to do the job professionally as possible instead of the ripping I see a lot of parents resort to. We will be going through a whole bottle of conditioner for a couple hours tmrw night. Shew. I feel like a bad parent but remember how easily my hair did this too because of the way I played and curls as a kid.

I’m so happy I came across this video. My 6 year old has severely matted hair just like this since June of this year. And I’ve tried so many products to detangle her hair. I’ll make headway and her hair just retangles. It has been extremely frustrating. I need help. I would love to fly her out to your salon. However I recently lost my job and car and that’s not an option. Can please tell me what products to use? What causes the hair to retangle or lock back up? What detangling tools work best? Or can you please do a tutorial that will be helpful to us who are not financially able to fly to your salon. Thank you in advance.
I am not an expert, but I think that in the video they mentioned patience, as being the main ingredient in getting the job done! I also think that keeping the hair hydrated is good, like to de tangle the hair after washing the hair and adding lots of conditioner, and then adding oils to the hair like coconut oil, jojoba oil, olive oil, rosemary oil, almond oil, ect to keep the hair hydrated, I think it would help make it easier to detangle. Also, dividing the hair into small sections, and working on each section at a time, and if you can’t finish, just braid the hair that has been de tangled, to prevent it from de tangling again. How do you treat the scalp buildup tho? I swear no one mentions that EVER. When you don’t wash matting isn’t the only issue.

If you look through her channel, she does have videos where she explains the products that she uses, but patience is really the key with detangling hair as it may take many hours or even days to complete

Im a guy with long thick hair (to my lower back) I wear it in a pony tail and am going through an issue with matting. Its like a strip running down to my shoulder blades and im seriously suffering mentally because I am humiliated by it and its getting too much to live with.
My partner is incredible and is helping me out everywhere she can, so seeing this at least makes it feel possible since mine is small compared to this. Does anybody here have good product recommendations (including brushes/combs) as im trying everything i can find and still struggling. Its costing a fortune but at this point i dont care, thank you in advance.

I'm disabled with 0 help (currently trying to get on disability which will offer me a cleaner to come around once a week to help out with the stress of my home) but yeah my hair has been like this and even worse sooo many times. Salons really don’t want to help you with a service like this detangling matted hair. I’ve tried to contact a few places and yes, they are not very helpful about it. This one stylist told me her hourly was $90 and I was willing to pay the money to get the help breaking down my hair that was matted, but I know she didn’t want to do it and kept suggesting pixie cuts. I definitely declined the pixie cut. It has to be a salon like Leda’s salon for that type of service.

Why not cut the hair? When she says that, I can't tell if she's saying that cutting it is a bad for matted hair and to wait until it's combed out, or if someone doesn't want it cut, she won't cut it, but will put the work in to detangle longer hair.

The only way to get it out is to get a professonal to do it or have multiple people get professnal tools for you to get it out and help you. (I would also recommend putting oil on your hair and shampoo your hair really well, i can give you links for the professnal stuff you need but you cannot do this alone you need at least 2 of your friends or family to help you)

I have a huge matt about 6x6 inches in the back of my hair right now. I was frustrated and just about to cut, but then I watched this. It's only been 1 week since I brushed my hair, I've been wearing it in a messing bun, but because it's fine and think, it's bad. Don't know about other people, but my hair and looks isn't a priority in my life at the moment. I have a business that I run from home, 3 children that are special needs and each homeschooled in a different grade, a house to maintain, and a husband to take care of. There is not time for myself, sometimes not even for a brush, considring my hair is so tangly anyways, a simple daily brush takes about 30 minutes.
I can totally relate. I have two big Matt’s at the back of my hair. Also mom of three special needs kids and I barely have any time for “self care” let alone caring for my hair the way I should. Now I’m at a loss of what to do!! I don’t have money to get professionals to help detangle me (I imagine this costed hundreds of dollars to fix) the only thing I can think to do is to melt coconut oil put it in my hair and put a hair cap over and pray to God I can try to get it out myself 😖 did you manage to get yours out and if so, how did you do it?

My hair has gotten to the point where the entire back of my hair comes up with a pull of one strand of hair. I love my hair and I never want to cut it off. I might go out to you, it started in early November 2023
Try at home. I’ve been in this situation more times than I’d care to admit. The first time I was convinced to cut it.. then one time I decided to work on it myself. Sure it took a long time but I DID IT!! All you have to do is find a piece you can pull out and continue. Your hair will be going in all crazy directions. So let’s say the back of your head is all matted but you have some other hairs out.. some of those other hairs will also be in that matt. Once you get some you can find more.
My hair is once again matted. Not as bad as the person in this video and I’m not sure how bad yours is but I hope you got something from my message that is helpful. I’m planning on working on it again this weekend.

@@trixintrudy you honestly can do either. Well with dry I will use detangling spray even the cheap stuff from dollar tree and it works just fine. It’s actually pretty darn helpful. When you’re doing it that way ( dry hair) I heard it’s more prone to breakage.
What I did was wash my hair normally… then did it when it was damp… you can either do it with conditioner still in… or like I said use a detangling spray.
I’m SO happy you found it helpful! YOU CAN DO IT with a little bit of patience… even if you need to take breaks that’s totally fine… do as much as you can and repeat the next day.

I fell and fractured my spine last year and couldn’t stand or bathe for several months. I live alone, so I had no one to provide me with hygiene care. My long curly hair got very matted, like a felt ball.
You all did a phenomenal job at detangling her matted hair, but she still has a lot of damage and thinning from all the combing and stress on her hair, I would have shaved it all off but to each its own

I wish they could have helped me. Unfortunately, they quoted me at $5000 originally. Which is fine. Then they told me it’d be cheaper if I did a video. Fine. Then they told me I’d have to show my face in the video and the STARTING price would be 5 grand. When I obliged to the video in addition to 5 grand, they told me the video was mandatory and acted like the money was the issue and told me a typical salon charges this and that. The money wasn’t the issue. They ignored my concerns. They asked me why my hair matted, they asked if it was from scruba diving like all the other white girls. I told them I can’t even swim. I don’t go in the water. My hairs matted bc my ex beat me and still was treated this way. I gave up.
