  • Some days they will humble you beyond belief with just 1 to 2 fish to show for your efforts. Other days they will make you feel like a superstar angler. The calculation and careful planning makes these fish epic for a shore or kayak angler. They are nearly impossible to keep up with at times so precision makes the world of a difference for these speedsters!
    Decided to give it ONE more shot at these fish and finally we had a pretty banner day.

    Hands down my favorite fish and type of fishing.
    Quick story. Once in New Jersey, I was casting into a school of albies and diving gannets from my Kaskasi . I get a hit and I see a gannet get torn down through the surface. So what happened was I hooked up and tangled a gannet simultaneously. Fortunately, the gannet popped up 10 seconds later. I think I ended up losing the albie.

    Love the sound of that drag. Would love to catch one of them. What do you do, go out there and the fish are there? I'm sure you must get skunked sometimes. Is there a service you are tied into that lets you know to get out there and fish in a certain area lol

    • @EliasVFishing
      @EliasVFishing  6 років тому +1

      Yeah I did 5 trips for them. Two good two trips of 1-2 fish and one total skunk.
      I've accumulated 3-4 areas over the years I bump into them with some consistency that I don't have to fish in the heat of the fleets. But like you said, fair share of skunkings. Just the usual areas The Fisherman magazine wrote about 10-20 years back.

  • @skipyost177

    How about installing a 12" post near the bow. You would use it to point the bow towards the fish. Just put the rod on the right side of the post to move the bow to port when the line is tight.

    • @stevefotinos4985

      Cam Rojas I feel like he doesn't really fish live bait unless it's crab . Seems more economically to use the jigs and shads

  • @jeffbrinkman684
    @jeffbrinkman684 6 років тому

    Do you direct tie to your epoxys? If so, what knot do you use? I have not had NEARLY the luck that you have had with Albies this year. They seen to be very shy where I am, most anglers are reporting one fish per outing.....I am in an area where there are quick, random pods, a lot of fishing pressure, and no one hooking up. I have been doing my best to match the hatch, but minimal success.

    • @EliasVFishing
      @EliasVFishing  6 років тому

      +Jeff Brinkman always direct 15lb test (that's why the runs are so explosive) I don't fish for them in the chaos zones anymore. These pods were tiny (1 to 2 busts maximum). I'm only using epoxy jigs, cabelas real image jigging spoons, and my shads at this point.

    I noticed you cut the videos short on the fight. I use 12pound test and have almost get spooled. I switch back to 20pd. Not as many bites but enough. My #1 lures are albie snacks, 4" Ron z' s, and any 5" plastic fluke baits. I use hogy and deadly dicks too but I catch 2 on plastics before I get one on hard baits.

    Those albies are absolute tanks. I had one on one time but it ran so hard straight at my boat and I lost it. On another note, I want to try the old tube and worm this fall for stripers. My tube is all beat up, and I don't remember what brand it was. Do you know of a good brand I can buy from Amazon?

    • @joshhigdon4951
      @joshhigdon4951 6 років тому +1

      He's not wrong, nor are you. Almost a universal thought, a bluegill is pound for pound one of the strongest fish. However, they don't fight nearly as hard as a redfish, striper, bonito, dolphin, blue, or many many more. But if a bluegill weighed 15lbs, there isn't many 15 pound anything that would fight harder.
