      The most beautiful thing about this fish is the combat, so when I feel that it has hit me, I have fun with it as much as possible. I give it room to escape and bring it back exhausted so that it does not create chaos in front of very sharp stones. 😂😂🌊

    Hey Max! Your YT is my database for learning shore jig! Nice work mate, I appreciate effort you put into it! I was in the same location last week, that was my first experience in shore jigging. Its little bit harder style that actually looks on the video. LOL. My arms were burning after 2 days of fishing. So ... I got only few small false albacores with 65-85g jigs. Anyway, that is the only place I was in Greece. I was wondering what months are working the best for this place ? Appreciate your feedback.

      Thanks for your comment, unfortunately we don't have Goliath Groupers here in the Mediterranean, but good to hear that it works well! 💪

      @@maxdocken Thats true for smaller grouper species... Bigger groupers are kinda like humans.. Definitely one of the smartest fish in the sea. If you manage to speak with experienced spearfishing divers ask them if they think that groupers are stupid and prepare to hear some of the craziest stories ever.... Their game with holes is so sophisticated and reaction to the speargun is on whole different level.... its insane how smart they are. Also their cooperation with some other species like muray eels and stealing the fish from divers... Dentex is also very smart I agree but I would not say its smarter than grouper... Just more in control of its predatory instict. Similar to the AJ. It has the best fighting IQ but still its high predatory instict make them easy to strike especially smaller ones.

    • @maxdocken
      @maxdocken  11 місяців тому +1

      @@hldemi_fishing that might be true, old fish are most of the time somehow smart.
      From the perspective as a shore angler we deal most of the times with the smaller individuals, if we hook a big one from shore the chances are close to zero and these fish are not the really big ones.

    Hi Max, thanks for all your useful content. Question: I have been trying to catch something with shore jogging in Corsica (near Sagone) for the past week, but without success. What am I doing wrong?

    • @maxdocken
      @maxdocken  4 місяці тому

      Hello Eelco,
      to be honest it's difficult to analyse this without seeing you actually fishing but let me try.
      1. You are sure that fish is in the area?
      Summertime is not an easy time and it can happen, that fish are not around your spot. => I suggest you to check different spots around the island and search actively for the fish.
      2. Your setup (rod, reel, braid ect.) you are fishing is OK and for this technique?
      3. Are you experienced with jig animation? Jig animation is not super difficult but if not done correctly the amount of strikes drastically decreases.
      => You have to fish the jig from the bottom to the surface, i fish usually ~ 2/3 of the water depth, depending on the species a bit more. Also when you jig you should feel a constant connection between you and the jig, like a tension on the line. If you habe slack in between your jerks you are overpowering the jig.
      4. If technique is OK, I would suggest to play with the hours. Try from early to mid day as well as afternoon to darkness. Most likely strike come in summertime early and/or late.
      5. Try different depth. Not only the deepest spots are the most productive!
      Shore Jigging is a challenging technique targeting big fish - so not every day of jigging is a day of catching. 🤓
      Hope my tips are useful for you and you get the experience of a good hookup! 🤟

    Hi man, I fish in a depth of 20-40 meters in your opinion what are the best jig colors on sunny days and cloudy days?

    • @maxdocken
      @maxdocken  5 місяців тому +1

      Hi Andrea,
      when I go shore jigging I take always jigs for shallow/deep and low light conditions regardless the spot. For example on a sunny day on a spot you describe I always try natural colours first. For example gekito jig strike Nr. 32, 981 or 13 but if I don't get strikes I also try more attractive colours like 34 for example or colour with glow stripes.
      On cloudy days or when having rough conditions I start usually with more attractive colours but try natural colours as well. It can also be effective to fish a full glow jig on sunny conditions just to tease the fish.
      Always adopt to the conditions/situation you find but be open to experiment.
      The only rule I can tell you, if the light is low fish an attractive and easy visible pattern.
      When you watch my videos you always see what jig/colour I have fished.

      The I fish most of the times spots between 25 and 35 meters and I use all the colours I fish in these depths.
      For example the Gekito Jig Strike 982 is a strongly UV Color, that works very well in depth because UV rays are the ones of natural light which get deepest in water.
      But as said I fish all colours in all depths.
