This is an intro for the series of novels created by Peter David.

This follows the journey of the USS Excalibur an ambassador class starship.

New Frontier deserved to be a TV series. A great cast of characters, some borrowed from TNG series, in the hugely popular TNG era, that would've outlasted Enterprise by far. I really wish Peter David would write more New Frontier books, they are as good as Trek can get.

Joe Flanagan is an amazing pick for Mac! Nice choice. Really wish they’d have made these books into a series.
This would make the best show ever
From the books I've read of this series I already like it. The cast of characters is so alive and interpersonal, I especially like Captain Calhoun and Zak Kebron. And that interpersonal quality let them go places the shows never could, like Dr. Selar early on and her "pon farr problems." I just wish my local library had more books in the series cuz I got cut off pretty early on it seems.
i would like to have seen Star trek new Frontier as a TV series instead of Star trek discovery.
This is great! I especially love the inclusion of Louise Lombard - she's always been a favorite.

Maybe Michael Clarke Duncan as Kebron instead?
And i've always thought Christopher Judge would make the perfect Si Cwan, and Michael Easton the perfect Calhoun...?

Star trek new frontier would make a great tv series. And it has interested characters and intriguing plots

You are probably too young to remember; but in the time of TNG poduction (late80's-early 90's) Paramount actually cared FOR REAL for the opinions of the fans: they changed the scripts of future episodes according to the feedbacks they got, & more then once.
Examples: Picard say "paramount" only once, because fans didn't really liked it ("very famous issue").
most famous: the woman admiral FORCE picard to NEVER AGAIN feel sorry for future captured borg.
I wish there would be a Tv show of New Frontier. Considering there are Books, comics and action figures the only thing left to do is actually make a show.

Hey it's nice to ask before stealing footage! Nice idea for a series, seeing Ross Kemp in Star Trek would have me hooked lol!
I know I'm late to the party here (this was the first New Frontier thing other than an audio book that popped up) IF this would have been released in the mid 2000s with this cast it may have worked.. Is that supposed to be the Great Bird Of The Galaxy hatching at the end? :P Good work!

@NovaScotiaNewfie - The Excelsior and Miranda class were in service for what seemed like forever. Considering the size, time, and cost to build one *If they were real that is* Starfleet would probably try and keep them in service as long as possible.
Wouldn't that class of ship have been retired by the time Shelby was commander? As seen in TNG the crew of the Enterprise C still had the TOS movie style uniforms? Not sure how many years before the Galaxy class/ Enterprise D.

dude i like the Enterprise one far better cause they had to discover things that the other Star Treks had, to me Enterprise was by far the best one yet in the T.V. series
FYI, they always cared about selling tickets their a business they didn't make Star trek out of the kindness of their hearts. Hell do you honestly think Roddenberry didn't make Star Trek to make money?
I thought it was supposed to be a Galaxy class ship.
The original ship in the series was Ambassador Class but later exploded. The Galaxy Class was the second ship in the series. They were always giving this crew out dated ships.
